I just had to let you guys know, I can't keep silent any longer. Jewel ISN'T the only one who's changed. I've recently been fortunate enough to be in the presence of Woody the Plywood Cow several times and - yes, it's true - since Jewel signed his nose, he's just NOT THE SAME!! He thinks he's a superior plywood cow now, and has even insisted on a stunt double whenever Dennis wants to just do some practice roping. If anyone wants to see a sad sight, just watch poor Dennis try to rope a plastic chair! Albert knows of the heartbreak. Woody even insists on wearing a SOCK on his nose to protect Jewel's signature! (Can you say MICHAEL JACKSON??!!) Woody had a particularly bad scare when Shane Kilcher tried to destroy him in San Diego! Obviously, Shane was jealous because Woody is far superior to any plywood cow he's ever roped, and so he got Woody by the nose and yanked with all his might, pulling Woody across the lawn. Now Woody is even more paranoid and is insisting on SECURITY GUARDS when in the presence of any of the Kilcher family!! Hopefully, with the love of the EDA's, we can bring Woody back down to Earth. If not, can BLUE EYELINER really be very far away? :-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jul 1999 02:57:31 EDT From: SweetBrij@aol.com Subject: * Drug Bust Story Clarification Please... No. It could be total crap. As long as that crap is "well-performed." Sean, has a person so obviously jaded as you never noticed that before!? Alan Well that does hinge on what you mean by what "matters".. what matters to you is obviously not the same as what matters to Sean. You appear to be more an afficionado of Jewel's immense talent and skill than of her emotional impact (at least that of the variety which Sean (and, incidentally, I) is interested in)... you'd sooner hear a flawless Life Uncommon than a flawed Memoirs of a Housewife (or so it seems to me from what you've posted). I am "for" Jewel... but if she does something I don't like, I still don't like it. I don't have to like it, it doesn't matter if I like it, she's totally free... but I still like to talk about it... just because.... It's not very practical to tell other people what to discuss... say something provocative yourself, and we will probably respond. In light of all the recent discussion about how Ms. Jewel Kilcher has (or hasn't) changed over the years, I offer my version of the TOP 20 things that HAVE changed in the EDA world since 1996: #20: Mike Connell has changed his underwear 112 times! #19: The Harris Clan has become a mere rag-tag band of recluses randomly scattered across the globe. #18: Kangaroos and koala bears now routinely hum "You Were Meant For Me" in the Australian outback. #17: If Steve Poltz wishes to, he can wear DESIGNER dresses now. #16: The Rugburns now qualify for a reunion tour. #15: If Jewel chose to live in a car again, she'd be able to have a chaffuer/doorman on staff! (AND drive a Winnebago) #14: We have much more Jewel music to listen to, with background accompaniment ranging from hissing expresso machines to haunting cellos! #13: We have many ways to change our world if we so desire, and groups like the EDAF and HGH to work through. #12: The EDA gene pool is deeper and more diverse (a better LOOKING group, to be sure!) #11: As EDAs, we have built a national reputation as intelligent fans who appreciate good music. #10: We can simply mention the three letters "E D A", then the three words "Living Room Tour", and invaribly interest phenomenally talented musicians in coming into our homes and entertaining us up close and live! # 9: Non-US EDAs are building an impressive library of their own angelfood! (How about some imports, guys? ;-) # 8: The chances of finding another EDA in your area are MANY times better than they used to be! Our EDA family community is much bigger. # 7: Frisbees no longer frighten Jewel (I hope). # 6: EDAs no longer collect each other's autographs at gatherings. # 5: Attempts on the Harris Brothers' lives are less frequent (or at least less violent). # 4: A plywood cow has replaced that fuzzy purple bear! # 3: You guys have changed. # 2: I've changed. AND THE #1 THING THAT HAS CHANGED IN THE EDA WORLD SINCE 1996: # 1: Jewel has changed. Ain't that wonderful? :-) Dennis Harris, who hopes that we ALL continue to change (and sometimes even for the better!) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jul 1999 09:21:21 -0300 (ADT) From: Jesse A McDonald Subject: * Please give some thought to the following, and respond either to me personally or to the list if it's appropriate... 1 - Why do so many of you say that Spirit is "deeper" and reflects "more maturity"? 2 - What are you responding to when you talk about "all this negativity"? if you draw a blank for either of the above... So people, whenever there's a discussion going on I'd like to ask you that if you don't agree on something that's posted, please reply with a contribution to the discussion or leave it alone.
