It worries us a lot. I can imagine that you want to compare seeing Jewel in 1995 , 1996 or even 1997. But it's now 1999 , and Jewel has turned another direction of her life. I think we may be happy and even grateful to go to a concert of Jewel in the states. With so many talents that she has she is still capable of enjoying herself and the band at the concerts. Of course it would be nice if she plays some early innerchange days songs, who wouldn't ??? But what i have been experiencing at the european Jewel Spirit tour was that she and her band really amused theirselves at the concerts. And that i can tell you a lot of fans really loved to see her sing and make funny moves with her hands. Steve and Jewel on the stage are still as magical as those early Java Joes days. I am sure, although i really find it hard to judge ... But Jewel is still an indepedent Spirit , that sings at show in the way she thinks you will appreciate it. I think in Europe Jewel is still underrated and that is very silly. In the whole European market her cool song Down so long is not played often on radio. Only a minor radiostation in Amsterdam, the big capitol in Holland plays this song and praise Jewel's song. I often phone them up, and request this song. And they love Jewel for her music. I have to admit this is nice. Even in the UK she doesn't get through.. As far as i am concerned, you better make sure you maintain your EDA spirit. That was always about innocence and love for the music of Jewel., and her way of telling funny stories between the songs. But this second album of Jewel emphasises a different approach to the concerts, and she really sings still with as much passion the songs near you always, innoncence maintained and grey matter for example. What i really enjoyed the most were the new songs she played in europe, like Fly to me angel (alright for me it was a new one) and the song Weeping tree. I really think Jewel is an artist that doens't make herself allowing to be a POPDIVA . She likes attention of course, but she is not thriving on it. I really can admit after seeing so many good shows, that Jewel is a sweet star that tries to sing out at a venue for so many american fans as possible. But i think in Europe we were all really excited to hear Jewel sing and play... With her second album you can see that at the particular band songs Love me just leave me alone, Down, and even Do you want to play that Jewel plays so wonderful eletrical guitar. I was really completely blown away by her style and her enthusiasm when she was playing the guitar at those songs. I was happy to have front row seats, so i could easily get a center position at the stage. I hope you will try to appreciate Jewel so more at the concerts, and try to thank her for giving you a wonderful concert. Her talents are as wonderful as they are, and it is already a pleasure for me knowing that Jewel is coming to Europe in October. I hope to see her again, i like the music. The band is fantastic and Steve as opening act is really cool. He mixes up songs, and when Jewel sometimes join Steve be than happy as a fan to hear them sing their songs. Another favorite of them together : My valentine a song they wrote together at a trip in paris. It's really too cool to see them together as they know eachother so well, and really give the crowd a shock because of excitment. This was todays review of the growing complaints about Jewel, which i think is really strange. You have to judge in a way that you like, but i would rather go to see Jewel in a good mood, than being so negative and try to compare the setlists for example of the concerts. I think when you do that , you don't pay attention to the concerts, and to the different pronaunciation of the words that Jewel often puts into her songs. She is really sometimes in emotions, which reflects her way of singing the songs. I really did feel that at the concerts in Europe.. Have still a good 6 weeks of Jewel's world Tour in the USA......and if you EDA's in America keep that negative than i would rather see Jewel coming to Europe where we would love to see here more often. Hello everyone! We're back from San Diego and boy are we tired! We had such a great week out on the Left Coast and got to see so many EDA's and old friends. Thanks to everyone who attended the HGH/EDAF talk on Saturday and thanks to everyone who put their efforts into making the Gathering of Angels such a success....Lori, Jason, and Rizoule for organizing, all the great performers and everyone who attended! Some really awesome things came out of our trip which were announced by Lenedra at the Gathering, but have yet to be mentioned on this list. First and foremost, Higher Ground for Humanity has made a most generous donation of $5,000 to the EveryDay Angels Foundation! This will certainly help us increase our activities in the EDA community. We have also discussed partnering on some upcoming projects....details will be announced as they become available. We are very excited about this partnership with Higher Ground for Humanity and the synergy between our two groups. The Acts of EveryDay Kindness scrapbook was also presented to Lenedra on Saturday. She assured us that Jewel would get it that same day. We should have some pictures on our website soon, as well as a digital version of the Scrapbook. Thanks again to everyone! We look forward to seeing more and more of you at upcoming events! Jewel has been going another direction with her >music, and that's why she is only playing 6 songs accoustically or 7 at the >current Spirit tour. It shouldn't worrie you, 'cause it just an opinion, but well, it's just that the older songs (to me at least) have this extra sparks that the songs on Spirit miss, as I said, I think that is because the songs are overproduced. Although I must say that the songs she did from Spirit on the two concerts I've been to, were absolutely great, she added (at least some of) the spark again to most of the songs. Don't get me wrong I really like Spirit, but as I said, it misses the spark that the songs on POY and other older songs do have... >It's just curious to find out when she is doing other songs accoustically at >the venues in the states. I read your reviews that she sang Racecar driver. >That seems very cool to me, as i haven't heard this song in Europe in may at >her Spirit tour over here. Or the song Do you that she played for you.. Indeed you americans should be glad, we didn't get to hear those songs at all. >You don't have to forget that when you go to a Jewelconcert, that you come >for her voice and her songs. That all of you like, because we buy a lot of >records of Jewel and her old songs are fantastic. And i really do believe some >structure is needed, to get a good show. I really enjoyed the bandplay and i >think they are growing...example the new Jupiter version. Of course Jewel >also sometimes reveals some new songs like Angel, I don't wanna be loved by >anybody but you. Be proud that Jewel & Steve sometimes sing songs of the old >days like I thought i saw you last night... Yes there's some truth in your story, as far as I can imagine a world tour is absolutely gruelling, and you can't remember all the songs you ever made, but I don't agree that a show has to have structure in it to be good, I knew this kid in elementary and high school, and he was so good in stand up comedy and improvising, that was absolutely amazing, a lot of the time we had left in class he did a small piece, and almost none of the time i heard things twice. Oh, and a lot of the he even involved some other people, just pulled someone from the class, and you really couldn't tell they hadn't rehearsed, whatever the other person said, he always knew just the right answer. >I heard for example Old lover's house in europe in may at some of the many >concerts i saw, and that was really exciting. I never saw them singing >before may 99, so i was so happy when i finally saw them sing harmony. The >song My body is changing is really one of my favourites now actually. >Especially as they sing harmony. Yes, this was my first time seeing Jewel and Steve too, and it was just absolutely amazing, the only thing that I can tell all of you that are having doubts in going is to just go. >So don't judge too much, just try to enjoy yourself and have a great time >.....that's what a fan is about. Nope, that what being a fan to you is about, but not to everybody. but I agree that having a great time is far better than just getting senselessly angry about lots of stuff. >Enjoy Steve as opener, he plays some wonderful songs. .....request Little >red corvette or the rappy Waterfalls....or Old Gym Guys....or >Lockjaw....those songs he played at the european concert tour i went to , >and they are my favorites.....and the chair song is excellent as well...or >ten chances !! Ah yes, the chair song, now that is really funny...
