[Ian Conroy Subject: * Storytellers taping Hello all, Just writing to say that last night was one of the best nights of my life!! It was great meeting some of you EDA's , didn't have time to talk to everyone, but those I did talk to were very kind people. About the show, WOW!!!! Not only is her voice 10 times better "live", but she is more beautiful than I've ever seen in any photo or television appearance. When she first came out from the back of the studio, she passed by my seat and I waved to her and said "Hi Jewel!!". She smiled and waved back. This made my night. Her stage presence was absolutely enchanting. I couldn't take my eyes off her. She looked so angelic, it was like a dream to me. I was just in awe the whole night. I loved every song and every little doo-doo-ya, b'doo, doo ya that she sung. One of the songs I enjoyed the most was Who Will Save Your Soul. Those of you who were there know why...all that "ad libbing" at the end of the song was fantastic. Oh, and if you're wondering, I'm the big mouth who yelled "I LOVE YOU JEWEL!!" I couldn't resist.......and when she said "Thank You, Baby" I felt so ALIVE! Thanks to everyone who was there for making this an event to remember for all time.... Please e-mail me if you wish to share any thoughts or just talk about the show. The only thing that disappointed me --after the show was over and some of the EDA's were standing outside complaining about how she performed this song and how she shouldn't have changed this or done that..... I was really beside myself when I heard such negativity. I really feel badly for those who felt that way. For the rest of you, hope you had a great night and it was wonderful to meet you. Take care, Sue **the God loving/guitar strummin' angel** also...the angel who is high on life because of Jewel!! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jun 1999 22:05:53 +0100 (GMT) From: Ian Conroy Subject: * Storytellers - on VH1 UK?? I guess it's too early to say yet, but does anyone know whether VH1 UK are planning to show VH1 Storytellers, and if so when? I'm going to try and find an email addy for them anyway now to ask them about it. Cya, Ian EMAIL : iconroy@jesus.ox.ac.uk ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jun 1999 18:15:51 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: * MrBB- VH1/Release news/warmups, etc.... Hi all, I hope all the EDAs that attended Storytellers had a memorable night! I'll enjoy the 1st hand accounts that get posted with the rest of you, and just tell you a few related things of interest. Also some news I waited on so Jewel could tell it on the show first. As she revealed last night, a new quite different version of "Jupiter" will be her 3rd single from Spirit. It's got a more hip-hop type rhythm than the album version & a very agressive guitar sound in parts. There will be several international singles forthcoming. Will keep you informed. The soundtrack for "Ride With The Devil" will contain "What's Simple Is True". Looks like "The Sue Lee Song" has been relegated to obscurity for now. Someone asked her to play it last night, but she doesn't remember it any more. (I'll see what I can do about that ;-) Although I forget where (Australia seems right...but I'll confirm that & post later), an enhanced CD version of "Spirit" is being readied for release. This will contain multi-media content like the videos bio, & some other cool stuff you can play on your computer. We also have exciting plans for EDAs looking to get involved with HGH goals and making a positive difference in your own lives. More info on that soon, as well. Also, on the 1st leg of the US dates, prior to Rusted Root AND Steve Poltz supporting, ONLY Steve will be warming up. These rumours about The Coors warming up in CA are wrong. There will also be several webcasts of American tour shows. No details yet, but I'll definitely keep you posted. Lastly, I wanted to let you know that the producer told me The EDAs were the easiest fanbase they'd ever worked with on "VH1 Storytellers". They also said that the questions you guys came up with were far more intelligent than they usually deal with & would have foregone the rehearsal the night before had they known just how intelligent & funny you'd be. (Personally, I thought the Q & A part was particularly good & often hilarious. Especially that last question!!!! THAT was hysterical whoever you were! I bow to you! :-) Thats about it from me today. I already updated the www.jeweljk.com calendar with more accurate info & I'm going to put up EVERY 1999 SETLIST tommorrow. It'll be 100% accurate & complete through last night! I'll also include every Steve Poltz setlist from the tour. Have a look tommorrow if you're into these things. Cheers! Did anyone see Jewel on the Today show this morning? I thought she was supposed to be on there, but I guess the info wasn't correct. So, does anyone know when she WILL be on there? I just want to extend on what Pete said. I am still getting over last night's festivities. I met a bunch of new people. I didn't get to get down all of your names and emails though. So for all of you i failed to get their emails last night, i'm the girl who was sitting in the front row for the platform where Jewel answered questions and stuff, wearing the blue dress and who got the drumsticks....(I still can't believe he gave them to me or that i got Jewel's autograph)...but anyway...I'm also the only one that dared to taste that disgusting "Vegimite" stuff from Austrailia. Ew!!! Well it was fun to meet all of you, and i hope you all had just as good of a time as I did. (I know you all did!) ~Kristina Philly, Pa P.S. I was also wondering about all of you who brought camaras and took pictures. If someone could get doubles for me i'd really appreciate it. I'll pay for them and the shipping and stuff. I'd just really like a picture of her last night to frame with my autograph and ticket. If anyone is willing, i'f really appreciate it, just email me....Thanx! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jun 1999 15:07:03 PDT From: Darwin Cuenca Subject: * Hard Rock Live on TNT hi, i heard that jewel's hard rock live will be aired on TNT Channel. on saturday june 12 at 9:00 pm (Hong Kong Time). its 3 hour show back to back with Wrestling Match. All I have to look forward to is watching her on Letterman tonight. Anyways-- this is how I see it if they recorded it they have to broadcast in it's entirity! If that means extending the hour so be it. Jewel is the greatest performer it would be worth it in there ratings! And if they don't show the whole thing on tv they should consider selling VH1 Storytellers presents Jewel home video. I would happily pay 14.95 even 19.95 to see the show you all saw. You are all very lucky and I hope to be at the next show or get together. Subject: * Houston EDA Gathering Update! (6/10/99) These updates will appear at most once a week until the week before the show, on July 10. Some EDA's are also planning to go to the Dallas show which is the day before, and the New Orleans show, which is the day after. These updates will only refer to the Houston show though...as far as whose going, the plans for earlier in the day, after the show, etc. As of right now, there aren't any *definite* plans, however some things have been tossed around, and we are speculating they will occur...once we figure out a time, place, etc. Plans call for an all-day gathering...before the show, and maybe after as well. Once a placed is established, we plan to have a BBQ/picnic/plywood roping contest/beer guzzling contest (j/k) whatever else you can think of that's FUN! Some EDA's will be arriving Friday night very late, coming back from the Dallas show. So no time or place has been established yet as for when this gathering will "start", and where it will be. More than likely, there will be some sort of BBQ either at someone's house, or wherever we can find a good place for that. This will occur around lunch time I'm guessing...but this isn't definite. We'll all hang out till it's time to make our way to the venue, allowing enough time to get there to see Steve take the stage at approx. 8:00pm. I'm predicting he'll play about 45 minutes, then there will be a 15 minute break for stage preparation for Jewel, then I think Jewel will play at least 1 1/2 hours...which I think is really cool since the longest I've ever seen her perform before was 1 hour. So it most likely won't be over till at least 10:30, maybe even closer to 11:00pm. After that some of us may get together and go to a club, or just hang out somewhere. But others maybe not be able to, and yet others may want to get an early start on their road trip to New Orleans the following day. So all this is still really up in there air. But we'll think of something soon enough. Right now we're looking at about 15-20 EDA's...unless more get tickets soon. 99% of the covered reserved seating is sold out. Ok, ticketmaster.com is showing *1* seat left for the covered reserved section...so that's really more than 99% sold out. And the non-covered reserved seats are going quickly...they're about 70% gone already. So don't wait too much longer if you haven't already bought tickets. They are only $36.00, that includes all the taxes too, which to me is cheap based on the prices of other recent shows. Lawn seats are even less of course, if you prefer that. So that's about it for now...here's a list of all the people that have told me they're planning on coming to the show in Houston...if you have any questions, e-mail me, Dennis, Luna, or Tessa...I think we're the ones that are "sort of" getting this all together...or so it seems anyway...ha ha. All the e-mail address appear below. One of us should be able to give you somewhat of an answer...at least to the best of our knowledge at this time. The show is still a month away, so once it's closer, (within a week or two) I'm sure we'll have more plans ironed out as far as the where's, when's, etc. Till then, I'll just be resubmiting this letter to the list once a week (with maybe a few minor changes), along with the most up-to-date list of EDA's going. If anyone sees any incorrect or missing info in the list, let me know so I can get it corrected ASAP. I wonder whether the same is likely to be true in the UK though, although obviously that'll depend on how well DSl does, when it finally appears - it's quite common now for totally different singles to get released by an artist in the US and UK more or less simultaneously (e.g. Whitney Houston). Looking at what tends to get airplay on UK radio, I'd say Deep Water, Life Uncommon and maybe What's Simple In True would be the most likely to get played on mainstream stations > Although I forget where (Australia seems right...but I'll confirm > that & post later), an enhanced CD version of "Spirit" is being readied > for release. They do have quite a lot of Jewel stuff there now.
