I just read the lyrics to Nikos for the first time today.. I've always had the song on RA but i never really listened to the lyrics properly apart from the first verse and chorus.. its only today that the whole story fell into place... Halo Angels, I just thought I would post again to see if any more Canadian EDA's will come out of the woodwork to possibly meet up with us other EDA's on July 1st in Vancouver area. There are a few of us so far (hi guys!) planning on meeting up for a Canada Day bash the day before Jewel's GM Place concert on July 2nd. We will most likely be meeting for dinner before the concert too, and I thought I would ask yet again if there is anyone else out there planning on going to the concert and may want to meet us. (How can you tell I'm getting just a little bit excited about seeing Jewel live?!?) So feel free to email me privately and let me know what your plans are! I was working my lousy backshift muffin-baking job at Tim Hortons' last night (say what you like, Scott, I don't work at WalMart^_^) and, as usual, the all-hit local radio station, C100.1fm, was playing... and this song started. the only instrument at first, if I recally accurately, was a Rhodes organ, playing a familiar chord progression. I couldn't quite place it... but then the lyrics started, and unless I really AM deluded, it was Down so Long. But... er... doesn't that start with an acoustic geetar and later incorporate a HAMMOND organ? Is there some alternate version circulating the airwaves? Or was it not Jewel or DSL at all? What's up? I have two extra tickets for the Jewel Concert on Friday, August 13, 1999, at 7:00pm. The ticket price is $77.60 for both or $38.80 for one. I did not raise the price for a profit. The tickets were originally $27.50 a piece but then they add a ticketmaster convience charge, shipping and a building charge. The concert is at the New World Music Theater located in Tinley Park, Illinois. The seats are located in section 205 they did not give me the exact seats. If anyone is interested please email me privately. First come first serve. Hi to EDAs in the UK, I could use your help on something. Does anyone have totally accurate setlists for both Poltz & Jewel from the May 10th concert at Warwick Arts Center in Coventry England? I have 100% verified & accurate setlists for every 1999 Spirit Tour concert except that one & the tapes are temporarily unaccessible. I'd like to complete the 1999 setlist guide on Jewel's website this weekend, but I want it to be complete. It's ready to go other than that one gig. Any help would be appreciated. As soon as I get that night's setlists, I'll update Jewel's website so every 1999 gig is listed. I'm a little baffled by the whole VH1 thing. How did they choose who went? I turned in my response on time (by Sat. afternoon) and completed all the questions. I LIVE in NYC, and still wasn't chosen. I even came up with some really good questions. Also, I remember Mr.BB said that the chances of one getting a ticket were 50/50. Well...a friend of mine turned in his reply on time and completely as well, and he DIDN't et chosen either. And, he lives in NYC as well. Can anyone tell me how they chose the poeople and if there is any possiblity of still getting a ticket to the taping, or even the dress rehearsal. Whatever. Anyways...be well everyone. Peace out! I can't decide if it is a good review, or a bad review. It starts out as if the writer is praising it, but then he talks about the oversimplicity of it. I don't quite understand it. Here it is, if you want to read it: Jewel: Spirit Jewel's Spirit Sure to Send Fans Soaring. Jewel took several years to follow up on her enormously successful debut, Pieces of You and it has paid off in much more mature songwriting and a cohesiveness that her first album lacked. Her improved songwriting is bolstered on Spirit by instrumentation that is rich enough to keep the listener interested, without obscuring the soaring vocals that are Jewel's greatest asset. Seasoned studio professionals like Jude Cole provide a solid platform for Jewel to display her rangy and richly textured voice. As far as her songwriting has come, Jewel is sometimes prone to oversimplification, with lyrics that display an adolescent tendency toward proclaiming their "Meaning." She is better off when exploring the simple spirituality that runs through the album, without declarations like "we're all OK," or "To live, we must give." Jewel is at her best when she is more subtle, trusting the listener to derive his or her own interpretations from her frequently insightful and evocative songs. She is at times a keen observer of human behavior and emotion and the brief flashes of her sense of humor promise even richer songwriting to come. Despite its occasional lyrical shortcomings, Spirit is full of well-written songs delivered through a voice that can lend conviction to almost any line. Its balance of up-tempo songs and coffeehouse ballads stands up well to repeated listenings. Spirit is sure to please Jewel's legions of fans and its radio-friendly instrumentation may win her a few more. At only 24, Jewel has given music fans more to look forward to as she continues to grow in the years ahead. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Jun 1999 14:00:52 PDT From: Darwin Cuenca Subject: * DSL in MTVAsia Hitlist hi there, i watch this weeks Hitlist and I found out that DSL is currently in #4 position from last weeks #8. she moves up four places!!! so to all asian eda, keep up requesting DSL in ur local radio station. i hope that we can bring her to #1 position. thanks. angel who needs a bike ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Jun 1999 18:23:03 -0700 From: mark paradis Subject: * hartford, CT concert tix now on sale hi everyone, especially all you Connecticut eda's out there. i just thought i'd let everyone know that tickets for the hartford show at the meadows music theater on july 28, went on sale this morning(saturday 6-5-99). hope to see alot of eda's there. later, tracy "the smilin' angel" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Jun 1999 17:22:16 -0500 From: jewelseda@mindspring.com Subject: * EDA T-shirt server down...I know Hey Everyone, Those of you who have been going to my ordering website and have not been able to place an order due to a server problem...well i just wanted to let you all know that i do know about this.
