I was just thinking tonight that with all the pre-concert EDA gatherings that are being held and are being planned in the future with the US/Canada tour coming up we should all excercise some security precautions. 1) Try to bring a friend that you know and trust to each gathering. 2) Let a parent/guardian and/or friend, relative, someone you know and trust know where you will be, where you are going and how to get ahold of you if needed. 3) Try to contact *personally* everyone (within reason of course) who will be attending the gathering and introduce yourself to them. Get their real names. 4) Make up a secret codeword that everyone in the gathering will know and don't tell anyone outside of the gathering EDA's. That way anyone who isn't supposed to be there can be recognised. 5) Use the buddy system. If you will be leaving the site, take a buddy with you. Especially after dark. Thanks for listening. I feel much better now. Have fun and be safe! But I tink it's also true that it has a lot to do with how the record company promotes an artist - even if they do sell a lot of records, or a lot of people do like them, if they aren't heavily promoted by the record companies, they'er simply not seen as being that important by the television shows. I was pretty proud of this accomplishment and I felt that I had to thank the EDA's and Jewel for it. Being onthis list has provided me a good source of inspiration to be more creative with my sketches and paintings. About a year ago I just felt inspired to do a pencil sketch and I thought that it would be great to sketch Jewel, and this was just for my personal portfolio, I don't try to profit from this. As I was doing it I found a whole new motivation through sketching people I admired and respected a great deal. Then about 8 months ago after completing about two or three more sketches of more people I was an admirer of I felt I just had to do another Jewel picture. This time I did it in pastels and only primary colors like blue yelow and a little red. I modeled it after her MTV Unplugged performance. My instructor at the Art Institute liked it so much she told me to enter it into the show downstairs in the lobby, and it won Judges Recognition. The other pieces were so amazing that I felt that it was a big accomplishment, considering that it was only suppose to be something for me and my collection. The reason I mention this now is that after reading some of the great things the EDA's do for other people I would like to help by contributing one of the two pictures to a charity that maybe somebody will purchase it for a good cause. This isn't easy for me because these are personal pictures but with the little amount of time I have I felt that this might be one of the best ways I could help. Please tell me if this is at least possible or another way I could help with any sketches or along that line. Thanks for reading, Keith Sokool etc ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 11:39:33 EDT From: JimboUK999@aol.com Subject: * re:DSL on GMTV/ Radio 2 Hi guys, >Did anyone who saw it, think that the performance on GMTV wasn't live - it sounded exactly like the CD version of the song.<< I'm sure it wasn't live, and i don't think Jewel was trying very hard to mime either. Jewel was so beautiful and more sexy than ever before. She reminded me of a Norweigen parlour maid, who has put lipstick on for the first time. Jewel is singing "Whats simple is true", live right at this very moment in London. For everyone that hasn't listened to it, I have never heard Jewel sound so happy and jokey. She was teasing her interviewer (Billy Bragg) about having a 'Springsteen' song being named after him. Her tip for the cup: "the guys in red" WHY?? "because the goalie is cute". Jewel also did a great rendition of Down So Long, I cant wait to hear the rest of the interview on soon. That's the first time I've heard her live (couldn't get to any concerts). I taped the earlier ones while I was watching the football, so I'll listen later. I think Steve is doing something with Billy Bragg in a minute. See ya, Adam ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 13:20:43 -0700 From: "K.J. & A.
