Of course, there are some new ones as MrBB mentioned Friday. PLEASE NOTE, there are MORE North American dates to be announced for late August through September and perhaps into October (just a hunch on my part), so PLEASE sit tight if your general area (like the southern USA states) has not been announced/scheduled yet. It seems to me that this is shaping up to be a quite extensive tour. There ARE more dates to come! :-) I have one request though, as list manager. PRETTY PLEASE (yeah, yeah...OK....with a cherry on top) .....please do not post to the list asking when tickets go on sale etc. I know some of you may wonder why, but we have 1,900 subscribers here and I am easily getting a dozen to two dozen posts some days solely asking about ticket sales. There ARE easy ways of finding this information on your own. Please call the venues, check TicketMaster at http://www.ticketmaster.com, and/or even look for a web site for the venue, or call a local TicketMaster outlet. To aid in finding a web site for a venue, online search engines are very easy to use and can help immensely to find such information....I know (from experience) that more than a few of you have yet to use one, but they can be your best online friend at times :-) My two personal favorites at http://www.hotbot.com and http://www.lycos.com There are many others of course. Give it a try :-) On the other hand, when/if you DO find information on when tickets got on sale for a particular Jewel show, of course please share that info with the list!!! :-) Mike :-) ****** Venue, City, Country/State/Province May 8 City Hall, Glasgow, Scotland 9 The Academy, Manchester, UK 10 Warwick Arts Center, Coventry, UK 11 Colston Hall, Bristol, UK 14 Falconer Theatre, Copenhagen, Denmark 15 Kampnagel-fabrik , Hamburg, Germany 16 HBK, Berlin, Germany 24 Pink Pop Festival, Landgraaf, The Netherlands 26 L'Olympia Theatre, Paris, France 27 Capital, Offenbach, Germany 28 Liedehalle, Stuttgart, Germany 29 Philharmonie, Munich, Germany 31 Kongresshaus, Zurich, Switzerland June 1 Teatro Carcano, Milan, Italy 2 Teatro Colossea, Turin, Italy 3 Fonderie, Modena, Italy 5 Teatro Arriaga, Bilbao, Spain 6 Winterthur Auditorium, Barcelona, Spain NORTH AMERICA TOUR BEGINS! I got two things to say: I finally got 2 tickets to the concert at jones beach and they are orchestra!!!I had to order two seperate seats otherwise I would have been way in the back(tip for others). Also did anyone catch the Friday Night Videos on NBC last night? For some reason I though it was the concert from the Leno show.Am I right? But, anyway she sang it like the leno show....I guess I can understand why she changed it..If I were her I would sometimes get sick of singing the same song over and over again...my opinion. They all got really into it though and looked like they were having a blast so it was cool! Well thats it from me...now start the countdown till concert day!! Samantha ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 May 1999 15:39:32 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: To those wound too tight ;-) Hi, This message is only directed to some folks here & I'm sure you'll recognize yourself if it applies to you. ;-) To those of you who *seem* to be angry that I suggested calling radio stations in response to EDAs writing me that they've never heard DSL on the radio....geez....lighten up! It simply seemed like the obvious thing to suggest, no? If you don't care for the song, hey, thats your opinion & no-one's twisting your arm. If you believe supporting Jewel's work in this way is a waste of your time, then your welcome not to do it. I was simply replying to those who would enjoy hearing the song get more exposure & radio play. But beyond that..... Personally, YES, I enjoy it when people call the radio stations & request Jewel. I think in the *bigger picture*, it helps support many people I care about, like all the good families & friends that work with Nedra & Jewel. It also helps to support great projects that benefit from Jewel's financial success, like Higher Ground For Humanity. Apparently from what I sense (wrongly perhaps), some think I shouldn't suggest things to the EDAs. It sounds like some think I should just shut up unless I'm giving them whatever they may happen to want. Meanwhile, they can suggest anything they want. Whats up with that? I also find it interesting how some people seem to think that their opinion can't exist without dissing someone else's opinion. Thats ridiculously defensive if ya ask me & accomplishes nothing. And regarding supporting struggling or unknown artists-- HELLO! I've done that for over 25 years now & rather than whining to mailing lists about already successful musicians, I'm out there REALLY supporting struggling musicians by donating my free time, production facilities, sound engineering, promotion & consultation services. I also enjoy organizing & promoting "Living Room" concerts & producing freely distributed tapes like the "Future Folklore" series. This is how I choose to support struggling & lesser known artists. I've always loved doing it, too. What exactly are you doing? I'd also suggest that before you get bent out of shape over my actions on the EDA list, you stop & ask yourself: "What have I contributed to the list to make it a better experience for others?" I can answer that question. Can you? I sincerely hope you can. When you actually have an intelligent answer to that, I'll be most happy to consider your requests or complaints of me seriously. Until then, I'll consider chronic complainers to be folks with too much time on their hands, who sadly can think of nothing better to do than to whine at anyone who will listen. I've been through a lot over the years here & believe me, I'm very used to someone complaining about every little thing I say & every little thing Jewel says or does. It phases me not. I just laugh it off & go on with my day. Believe it or not, I have much more interesting & enjoyable things to concern myself with. As almost everyone who *really knows me* is well aware, I'm one extremely happy person. I love my life, work, family & friends & have little to complain about. So please excuse me for laughing at *some EDAs* anger & waste of energy. We'll use anything for a laugh around here! Plywood Cows for all, ;-) Alan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 May 1999 16:26:41 -0700 From: "K.J. & A. So, this might be a fill-in. We all know that Jewel likes to give new performers a break- seeing as that's how she got to be where she is now. Date: Sat, 8 May 1999 23:07:22 +0200 Sender: owner-jewel@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Hi Every Day Angel in the World, I ended today with the story that Jewel was leaving the concert venue in Belfast. Jewel and the band members signed their cd's for their most dedicated fans and i met what i was forgotten to mention on last saturday - probably to excited - the drumplayer (again i forgotten his name sorry fans) and i told him that i saw the rocking early performance of them for BBC Breakfast TV before i left Holland to see them for the first time in my life in Ireland. He was nice, was wearing sunglasses and smoked a cigarrette and he went for some things into the Belfast town.......I told him that i like his enthusiastic way of playing the drums !!! He enjoyed that....the three songs that Steve and Jewel sang together during this first concert were really cool......the song Kilkanny man , Silver Lining and I thought i saw you last night are really lovely ones....i even didn't know that the song kilkanny man was from his previous rugburn cds...(morning wood or mommy i'm sorry.....it 's although on one of his previous cd's before one left shoe was relaesed one year ago) Than the Sunday came on may the 2nd....we went from our hotel in belfast to the trainstation in Belfast to get to the concertvenue in Dublin. And i have to be honest it was a nice short walk especially when i tell you fans that i carried a lot with me during this eight days in the UK.....we arrived early at 1 pm and we went for our hotel ....packed our things and went for the Dublin venue...it was a really cool venue.....their was a big Heineken festival and their was even playing that night the beautiful south in dublin (mr lee greene told us (chris, jesse and myself that he would liked to have seen this band!!!)......we saw a very very small alley were they had to unload their items and we decided to watch out the venue....again the concert of Jewel in Ireland was sold out.....(Everyone of the Jewelcrew must like this that there are enough fans that like the music of Jewel in Europe , so come back very very often again....we never mind watching Jewel sing and the band performing with Jewel harmony!!!!).....we saw a small add even on the local busses in Dublin where Jewel's face was on with the Spirit and POY photo of her.....than Carl the other fan from Sweden we met on saturday pointed us out that Jewel was on a small add in the alley..... The venue was very small in comparisation with the Ulster hall....all the seats were red and it has a historical stature ....than we went waiting outside for the doors to be openend..........we saw again Mr Lee Greene and we told him that we were pretty blown away by the wonderful performance of Jewel and that we really enjoy her songs and that we are really dedicated fans from holland......he enjoyed it......the other day he told us that they were heading to a lot of cities in europe and i told mr greene that i was attendending a lot ot those concerts in europe.....he liked it especially as i was going to paris even too...so the time of the concert came closer and closer and we all beginning to enjoy it even more......i spoke with some irish fans and they really seems to like to go to the concert :-) The concert again started with Steve Poltz singing the first part of this Jewel Spirit Tour....you can imagine that we enjoy all his jokes and his habits during the setlist.....the special table with the bottle of wine and than he offers a fan from the crowd to have a drink and buy him a Guinness :-) Everytime he seems to enjoy promoting his new album one left shoe (if you don't have it and you want to hear his songs than i shall recommend this one very very much!!!! forbidden fruit , everything about you and three lovely songs with Jewel are on this Mercury disc from Steve .....Jewel & Steve songs on the disc....SIlver lining, Impala , and I thought i saw you last night)................ Than again he started to sing some groovey songs and the audience really likes to be cheered up and to be brought into the good feeling before Jewel enters the stage......As sudden he sings the song Star wars he got the whole audience singing the word OOOOOOHHHHHH at a very high peak.......than you got really the good Spirit......he sings lovely songs with Steve Georgia and Doug Pettibone.....The great mystery and some other songs are really lovely to hear.... Than Jewel starts to sing again her first song .........the whole crowd is overwhelmed again by her voice and the song Near you always is really the most lovely opener you can hear at the concerts.....she really loves this song as the opener......When you listen to her words and voice you suddenly realize that the album Pieces of You is still in 1999 the pure and honest album as it was back in early 1994......than she started to sing the Deep water song, which is about Love and about what we can do to share with eachother........It really makes me cry because Jewel really sings the words so beautiful and so intense.....than she sings again the song What simple is true...........the whole song is so well written and composed that is really a song to listen very carefully to!!! Tomorrow i will continue with my Jewel Uk story as i still have plenty to tell about but i want to have a sleep right now.... Till soon, Michiel Your Spiritual Angel Standing by at the European Tour.....still some to follow :-))) http://members.xoom.com/Jewelimpala/index.html Soon some cool pictures of the trips to Cambridge, London, Belfast & Dublin on my A Dutch tribute page to Jewel - a beautiful angel from Alaska ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #249 ***************************
