Subject: The Regis show So what did everyone think about Jewel's performance on the Regis and Kathie Lee show this morning? Although she left off the last part of the song, I'm assuming because of the shows time restraints, I felt it was a little better than her recent performance on the Tonight Show...only because you could understand what she was saying. But it was her worst performance of all the Regis appearances, at least to me. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Apr 1999 18:13:56 -0400 From: Iris Subject: mtv Hey all, I just got back from standing outside to see jewel on mtv and see carson daly and it was cool.it was the first time that i'v ever seen her and it was cool. The only thing was that she only waved a few times and like people that were standing next to me were commenting on how she didnt wave that much! The only background scoop that i can give ya is that Carson and Jewel at one point were whispering to each other!Oh well though it was cool while it lasted and she looks better in real life too!! Peace Iris ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Apr 1999 18:05:38 EDT From: TRSummers@aol.com Subject: Ya'll have got to see the Regis and TRL... Hello again! I got home and saw both because I recorded them both. Jewel was the Jewel we all came to love. In the Regis show, she was very POLITE (for those of ya wondering if she said "Thank you".) and very fine, again, no surprise. She sang DSL solo and acoustic. For those of ya'll who didn't see it, it was one that you shouldnay have missed. It was soooo good it made me fall for her all over again. On TRL she was exceptional and we got to find out her favorite color (white!!). Hope the digest comes out before 9:00 PM EST so those of ya'll who missed TRL the first time get to catch it. Does anyone have it in real player, or know where to find it. I would really apprectiate your help. ;o> ßrian P.S. Aren't you glad this has nothing to do with Leno. :o) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Apr 1999 09:02:37 +1000 From: "Jewel Dean" Subject: Angelfood from Leno Hello Angels I have been reading so many mails about the Jay Leno performance and i didnt get to see it Is anyone in Australia or anywhere able to help a fellow EDA out and send me a copy Unfortunately I have no Angelfood to trade but I have to start somewhere Hugz to all Unique Angel (who shares Jewel's name) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Apr 1999 20:07:33 -0400 From: "Thomas A. Think they said the rest is to air tomorrow on Scott and Todd in the morning, does anyone know what time it will be airing? I have the 5 minute clip recorded but would rather get the whole thing tomorrow so any help would be appreciated! Thanks, TM ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Apr 1999 20:10:43 EDT From: "Greg Butler" Subject: Jewel is not on a "star trip" Ok...Jewel is not on a star trip. She is experimenting with different ways of singing. She was joking when she was talking about being a big rock star. Everyone just needs to take a deep breathe andget on with their lives. If you didnt like the performance, that is your opinion and I understand that many of you think the same way, but some of us think differently. Jewel is not floating away from us and going on a star trip...she is just evolving :~) Thank you for your time Greg The Broken Angel AIM - BrknAng523 lovingjewel@hotmail.com "No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from." -Jewel Life Uncommon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Apr 1999 16:53:07 -0700 (PDT) From: Agent BB Subject: Leno/Regis Well Jewel was on Regis even though the last post said she wasn't, I taped both that and Leno. I loved the way Jewel sang on Leno it was just like she was doing the night before at the HGH concert where she told me to F off! :) I was so happy she said anything to me cause I was tyring all night to get her to say something. But I thought she seemed really tired, I know I was it was 9:00 :) but she didn't do any of the stuff she did on Leno, so you ppl that don't like when she really yells it out prolly liked that show, I personally would rather see her yelling it out if I was there live cause it gets ya a little more excited and hyper :) NEway I hope she sings tonight on MTV I'm gonna tape this one too so if ne1 needs these maybe we can reach a trade or something. I thought Jewel did a wonderful job singing and playing and then speaking afterwards with Leno. She really has an artistic vision to keep her music alive and different and I think everyone needs to see that. Jewel is an outstanding singer and person. I would love to hear what everyone thinks about her CD "Spirit" and how it compares and contrasts to "Pieces of You." He was >obviously an EDA, no, not obviously an EDA. i know, i know, the EDAs are cursed with having obsessed branded to their foreheads, but unfortunately mr."thank me!!!" didnt have the EDA trademark that night, thus (god, i sound pretentious saying that) she would not have known that he was a worldly, wonderful EDA. i mean, of course, being an EDA we have the privilege of being rude and obnoxious...of course. one more note, with the whole "F-You" thing. she didnt say the actual word..she literally said F-you, but that's besides the point. from what i heard, it sounded like she was joking when she said that (there could be a difference of opinion of course depending on which EDA you talk to). she even said it with a funny (italian?) accent. I would classify her as a folk/rock/country star, but NEVER a pop star! I can't even think of one of her songs that could be called a pop song! What does everyone else think? 2) I've noticed that Jewel has a song called "Enter From The East", and Poltzie has one called "Look To The East", and I was wondering what the significance of this direction is. Or is it just a coincidence? Finally, to celebrate my 18th birthday on the 30th of this month, and also Jewel's birthday next month, I will randomly select ONE person who posts to the list on Jewel's birthday to receive a copy of a recording of Jewel's Sydney March 13 concert absolutely FREE!! It is my own personal recording, and the 3 or 4 people I've already given it to say it's very good quality. That's all for now :) Later! Hi all, Just rolled in from San Diego & I'm exhausted so I'll ramble incoherantly before I crash out for at least 12 hours! We updated Jewel's website calendar while I was out there so check it for the most current info. MANY MORE North American dates will be posted so keep checking it for updates & corrections. (Some dates & venues are still being switched around, so expect a change here & there.) There's also some changes to the European Tour Calendar. This is also now updated & accurate on Jewel's website. Also, we now have Jewel's 1999 Spirit Tour Books available exclusively from the website store. So for anyone who was unable to purchase one in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia or Singapore, you can purchase them through the website store. Ditto for anyone who'd prefer not waiting for the shows. They are quite nice & blow away all previous tour books. Have a look if interested at the www.jeweljk.com store. (They will be available at all shows in Europe & North America, as well.) It was nice seeing a bunch of you at the HGH Benefit. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Sorry, I wasn't able to spend more time with ya, but we were all focused on the audio & video recording, which came out wonderful. You can look forward to some of the results in the Jewel home video we'll be releasing later this year. Bibi, West & the video team are already editing footage as I write this. :-) I have several emails asking me if various celebs were REALLY there Sunday night sitting amongst you. While I didn't see all the people you folks have written me about, Elle McPherson, Dyan Cannon & Michael Keaton were there hanging out. And yes, the extraordinarily talented guitar designer Danny "Plywood Cow" Ferrington was also wandering around. (I hear his "cows" are now as popular as his guitars! ;-) I also caught a great show at Java Joe's Saturday night. Anya Marina (who happens to be Steve Poltz's girlfriend) performed a very enjoyable & often hilarious set of original material. She was quite good & Steve joined her for a few tunes. Anya was followed by a wonderful set by Gregory Page & The Troubled Sleepers. I highly recommend checking out Gregory. This band really kicked ass & put on a great show! Lenedra & I had a cozy dinner last night at The Chart House at the marina in Oceanside, CA (delicious!) & she told me a hilarious story that happenned to them in New Zealand which I'll try to paraphrase & post about this weekend. I need to restore my weary jetlagged brain cells first, so I can accurately tell it. I'll fill you in on progress about various things & hopefully capture the above mentioned story this weekend sometime. Home sweet home, MrBB ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #226 ***************************
