We have newsletters which come out about 8 times a year, and many bands, clubs, museums, artists, and businesses now belong to S.L.A.M. We hold benefit concerts throughout the 4 states for various causes such as raising money for the Albanian refugees. Our main event for this year is called "S.L.A.M. Fest '99" It is a benefit for the VH-1 "Save The Music Foundation" and also benefits the arts and music budget for several towns. The headliner for this is Patti Rothberg. We usually have unsigned bands open shows, and then use national acts to headline. All S.L.A.M. members that are artists, musicians, or businesses dealing in these fields get their name and contact info. listed on the last page of the newsletter for free. Membership is also FREE! Just email me back your company name (or band or artist name), mailing address, and contact numbers and/or email and website. If you are a club, museum, or a place that gets alot of public traffic, then please accept the newsletters in bulk to distribute at no charge. The S.L.A.M. newsletter also has live concert reviews, CD reviews, and interviews with bands, as well as artist profiles and artwork critique. If you're interested in any kind of music related press, than add me to your bands mailing list and send a CD or press-kit to: S.L.A.M. c/o Mike Vardal PO Box 622 Rocky Hill, CT 06067 If you want art related press, send me your info. and I'll call or email you. Well I flew to that concert clear from Salt Lake City, it was my first time ever seeing Jewel perform live it was AWSOME! I was trying so hard to get her to wave or do something to me the whole time, and finally towards the end she told everyone to come closer to the stage so of course I rushed down there, and I was yelling stuff like "Kiss me Jewel!" and lots of other dumb stuff, but she was thanking everyone and I interupted her and yelled "Thank me Jewel!" She turned down to me and said "F U, I don't even know you!" My brother said she said "THank you, I don't even know you!" But it was cool that she talked to me! So that is my story from that night, does anyone have any idea how we are able to get a copy of that video that was shot 'cause I would love to hear my constant yelling and her say that to me! hehe Thanks, Angel BB agentbb007@yahoo.com http://www.netvaults.com/jewel/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Apr 1999 17:02:22 -0700 From: Mike Carmona Subject: Jewel Vogue Show Hi all, That was the best Jewel concert i've been too because Jewel made it so unique, like adding funny lyrics, extending the songs with cute little playfulness. I gotta get it on tape or video! If any did a good recording of it, please let me know! I ended up going with Gerritt, who has that GREAT Jewel website: http://www.endor.org/jewel/ You can find many of my Jewel Guitar tabs there as well as a listing of our Every Other Day Angels mailing list, so check out his website if you haven't. I noticed that Jewel slowed down some songs a lot which really let you enjoy the melody and lyrics a lot more than before. I noticed that during her last concerts she was starting to rush those slow songs. She's gotten very very good at them now. During the show Jewel was wondering who to thank next or something like that, then some guy said, "Thank Me!" Jewel said, "F - You, I don't even know you!" Yeah, Jewel! Jewel was very sexy in that tight leather pants of hers! During I think WWSYS she was shaking her hips to the beat of the bass or drum and doing this funky dance that was HOT! Steve gave her a kiss while singing YWMFM - - awww! I heard Jewel gave him a kiss during the sound check. I also hear that Jewel flashed Steve! That's our Big-Bag Jewel! Yeah! Jewel said, "You guys are sure quiet" when she started YWMFM and no one made a sound. Later on she said ,"Can you guys do me a favor? Stand up and come close to fill the front isle. Pretend you paid for the tickets and they weren't given to you". Hey! I paid for them and had some shitty seats! What's up with that, Jewel! Anyways, I loved the show, I loved Jewel's growing flavorful sexy and unique attitude. She gots style! Well, It was nice see and meeting some of you all there in person like Lori, Jamie, Mr. BB - Alan, Larry, Sandy, Tim, and on and on. Hope to see more of you at the CA shows! And thanks Mike Connell for posting my free ticket eMail to the announcement/news list! You are great! Mike Carmona Every Other Day Angels http://home.earthlink.net/~mikecarmona/index.html P.S. Well, I was looking up Jewel at CDNow 'cause I really want the Down So Long imports, but I came across one titled "Down So Long EP" from Japan, and it says it has "Down So Long", live versions of "Fat Boy", "I'm Sensitive", and "You Were Meant For Me", AND 2 OTHER TRACKS. Has anybody else heard of this? If so, what are the other two tracks? Anybody? I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself:) Hey, one man's flaw is another man's life, right?
