Hello I must say the scrapbook is a stroke of pure genius. Think of it, Jewel doesn't want gifts but she just wants us to help others. This book would let her know that we respect her wishes and fulfill them the best possible. Probably if I got that for my birthday after asking for it, I couldn't see a better gift in the world. At least that is what I think - -- Matt (neo-angel) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 00:38:20 -0500 (CDT) From: Jay Christoph Johnson Subject: NJC: Midwest gatherings?: Joy Eden Harrison shows Joy Eden Harrison (as heard on such AngelFood tapes as InnerChange Days and Future Folklore 3, and part of last summer's Living Room Tour) is going to be doing some Midwestern shows to support her new CD, "Unspoken". I think these would be a great opportunity for some of the Midwestern EDAs (I know there are some out there) to get together. It could range from just meeting up at a show or 2, to making a full blown event out of it with some type of activity in the day/afternoon, then dinner, the show, and a late night round of good ole cow tippin' added in for regional flair (or better yet, Plywood cow tipping, which is somewhat more Jewel/EDA related, not to mention easier on the cows ;op ). Here are a listing of shows. If anyone has even the slightest possibility of interest, email me at johnsoja@luther.edu , and we'll discuss details: May 12 Wednesday - Milwaukee, WI - The Estate - 2423A N. Murray - 9:30 May 14 Friday - Madison, WI - Mother Fool's Coffeehouse - 1101 Williamson Street - 8pm May 21 Friday - Indianapolis, IN - the Music Box - 4213 E 62nd Street - 8pm May 28 Friday - Des Moines, IA - Java Joe's - 214 4th Street - 9:30pm May 29 Saturday - Rock Island, IL - Theo's Java Club - 213 17th Street - 9pm and hey, have a great day, everyday!!! Wow, Poltz was amazing, He played last nigt at the Harbouside Brasserie. He played a whole bunch of songs on and off his albumn, new songs and old rugburns days songs plus a cover of 'little red corvette' which was excellent. Had the audience in his hands (except for these two women near me who wouldn't stop chatting, I wanted to throw my beer bottle at them - but that would be a waste of good beer).. Before I go on here's the setlist: 10 Chances The Chair Song Forbidden Fruit Hollisten Street Impalla Everything About you The Great Mystery Silver Lining The Circus Song The Fairies Came Look to the East Good Morning (Waking up with You) Little Red Corvette Me and Eddy Vedder (House of the holy) Leaving Again Broken Hearts and Painted Nails POEM: Larry Flynt (publisher of Hustler magazine) channeling a message to his deceased wife Althea through Steve Poltz. Beautiful Day ABCs: Love (take off your shirt and show me what you got) - extended version. Star Wars Song. Encore (first Australian encore) Paint The Town. First things First. 'Broken Hearts and Painted Nails'- Steve says this is his saddest song. He spoke about being at your saddest, lowest point in life, he usually tries to out sad himself to write sad songs. Then he says he's Lowest point in life when his life took a turn for the worst was when, I'll just quote him from this point, "I was going out with this girl who's name I wont mention, now we broke up (pause) ........ Because some fucking guy named Sean Penn stole her from me!!! But I don't want to talk about it". That's why he wrote 'Broken Hearts and Painted Nails'. I don't want to start anything here?!? but I think Steve still burns the candle for Jewel if you know what I'm saying. He didn't wan't to let her go by the looks of it. Anyway I had a great 'Steve Day' first seeing him at Sydney Uni (for free), then later that night. Steve had us Laughing all night long telling funny stories about his Family and childhood memories, Rugburns days, funny stuff that happened on tour etc. If you could make it to a Steve show in Australia and don't go, Your STUPID, and that's the bottom line. seeya, - -Sang. First, I think it's really wonderful that we are making a sort of "Compliation" of good deeds EDA's have done for Jewel again. I think she will truley love it! I know on our "Birthday card" we made for Jewel last year, many of us also wrote on stuff we did for charity and everything, cause I've read and seen interviews where she talks about how much she appreciates it. One of those interviews would be the "Speakeasy" one hour interview she did fairly recently on MuchMoreMusic. And speaking of that, I've had some time to dub a few more copies of it. This is definatly one of the best interviews Jewel has done and she talks about everything from us (her "edas") to her movie, to spirit, everything. I know last time I offered this I had 50+ e-mails and sadly I only had time to dub them for the first 5 people who wrote me. Well, I am really stressed for time, so I dubbed 10 copies befor I planned on offering it. SO, the first 10 people that e-mail me, we'll work something out. ;) And please, if it is already, say, Thursday, please just assume that it is to late! There's going to be an international presence at the two Irish shows with fans from England, Holland, Sweden and of course Ireland attending. Similarly in London and Cambridge where my Dutch friends will be accompanying me. So if you want to join me/us at any of the shows then let me know by replying to this email or through my website. Currently, I am aware of fans who will be attending at least one show in all of the venues except for the one in Southampton. So is there anybody going to the Guildhall on Tuesday 4th May or am I going to be there on my own? Also, at the moment, I have a spare ticket for the Royal Albert Hall concert in London on Wednesday 5th May. The seat is: Stalls K, Row 4, seat 65. I'm selling it for £19.45 (which is what I paid for it) plus postage. Hope to hear from you all soon. Cheers. Chris. I was looking at the cover of this month's seventeen magazine and my huge, blown up cover of ANWA that me and my friend Beau "borrowed" from Virgin Megastore during the poetry reading and I thought, "Hey, that looks like the same shawl-thingy". Her makeup looks the same too, and since ANWA is in b&w, you don't know what color anything is really. So anyway, does anyone know if that was the same photoshoot? Did anyone else notice this?? At first thought, I really agreed with making something like that. Then I read all of the messages that totally slam the idea. I'm sort of caught in the middle here. Maybe Jewel will look over the scrapbook, so what. We can at least give it a try. I am disgusted with people thinking that the only reason we would do this is so we can have Jewel actually LOOK at are pictures. Sure, a lot of us will have to get up and volunteer in some way. But I thought that's what the Everday Angels are about. Jewel's birthday could really motivate us to actually get off our lazy butts and do something. I'm not saying that it isn't already being done. This group was obviously founded to make a difference. And yet we sit here and argue about how to do it. Sitting in front of our computers arguing. It just doesn't make sense to me. I know I covered a lot with that, but it is all important. So please think it over. ;o> ßrian "The Jelly Doughnut of an Angel" P.S. Please direct all upset responses to halaasb@hotmail.com.
