I agree. I watched her consult her watch onstage in front of everyone at the March 9th Sydney concert to see how much longer she 'had' to perform for...thought that was kinda lame...silly me thought she liked performing... ok so the only thing I can think of is this touring schedule must be really hard on her coz every time I saw her outside of a concert she wouldn't even crack a smile and always seemed REALLY tired...poor Jewel. Silly Atlantic people should give her some time off after this tour... Louise, "one of the kindest Angels who sees Steve in 7 more sleeps!!" About a year ago I gave him Steve Poltz CD's "One Left Shoe". We trade music a lot and he is always getting me a lot more. I looked through all my CDs and figured besides the Wizard of In Concert, Steve Poltz was the only other CD I had that he didn't. So I went and bought him one and sent it over. It kind of suprised me that he liked, since Steve Poltz's music is pretty mellow. Anyways today he said he was playing that CD when they had some friends over and everyone asked who it was and wanted to get one. My point that I have or am trying to make is that Steve Poltz needs more advertisement over here in the US. I have never heard him on the radio, or seen him on TV, without Jewel. Why is his record company avoiding such apperences? The guy has awesome music. I really want to hear this Star Wars song by Steve Poltz. Is it on one of his albums. If so, which one? Or even better, does anybody have it on Real Audio/.au/.wav(god forbid)/any other file format or know a site where I can get it at? Or even on tape (which I would be willing to pay for). If so, you could help me out a lot. Thanks... I'm no expert on emotions, and I don't think anybody here is either. I admit, she's a bit more polished now but if she's hontent with her life then she's content. One thing I do know is that Jewel is very open about her feelings (who writes a book of poetry isn't?) and if she didn't like something she would have said so. Since I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise (feel free to correct me on this). Then I will assume she's happy. WE may be unhappy with her changes but she may not be. This kind of reminds me of when I first joined this list in March/April '96. Jewel was barely starting to make it into the radio/MTV/VH1 scene and more than a few posts came in asking stuff like "Who's the lead singer of the group Jewel?" or "Is this list for that group Jewel?". The entrance u mentioned - I don't know which one is behind KFC. But think about it, the West Entrance, you go in right where the stage is. Think how close that is to backstage. And the entrance to the backstage is right behind there :) The doors are right there, in front of you, that's why you always have those guys standing there at concerts. For the sound check, you don't need to go into the auditorium, just go through the doors (facing the stage )in the waiting area. Imagine how close you actually really are! >I'm quite sure Do You was sung somewhere. I think it was the first encore... You're right, I too remember Do You. I think it was right before Chime Bells, when she had those two guitars upfront, and the roadie came and set up the second mike - for a moment, I thought there'd be a duet... Not a very reliable set-list, eh? :) Now for some pleading :p Is there anyway I can get the recordings of the >concert (both Steve and Jewel) from you? Well I have nothing of substantial value to share with you today (not that I usually do) but here's a weirder than weird question... if you were to associate Jewel with a certain colour what colour would that be? I know I'm a freak its just that I've always associated Jewel with an aqua/bluey purple colour... but wait I have reasons... the aqua I associate with her is the colour of the wing on the front of POY as well as the colour of the actual CD... the bluey purple and more shades of aqua come from the You Were Meant For Me video... I mean the whole set was basically blue then she had this blue sweater on and her guitar had that bluey purple colour to it... somehow that's always stuck in my mind and I tend to associate her with those colours... So I was just wondering if it some sort of psychological thing and if anyone else out there has associated her with those colours for the same reasons.. maybe I'm just weird but anyway that's my 2 cents.... ok well then I'm off to sleep bye bye Chris ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 1999 02:22:12 +1200 From: "Kim Lees" Subject: NJC: Re: Steve Poltz/Star Wars Song >Just curious.... Halo Angels, I was recently reading every word in the POY CD book and I have a few questions about her thank you list and who some of those people are and what some of the funny little sayings mean. IF anyone can answer my general wonderings it would be greatly appreciated. 1) Her thank you to Steve Poltz said "I'm a better sycophant for knowing you"...what's a sycophant...is it a realy word or jsut something that they made up...like an inside joke? 2) FRom another post recently I found out who Musse is but I was just wondering in anyone knows what 'jog ar kar i dej' means? I assume it's swedish...anyone? 3) Comment: I like hw she thanked Bazooka Joe for hours of mindless entertainment...did anyone one notice that (I'm probably years late in discovering this but hey...someone out there might be a procastinator like me...) 4) This is a really stupid question probably but she thanks her Mom and then says something about being a 'see-er'...What exactly does that mean? Because I always see Jewel as a Do-er if that's what it is in reference to. 5) Song Question: In 'Do You' I was just wondering what your interpretation of the line "Dance with the Devil for tomorrow we'll surely...hey hey blow the men down" I'm not too sure what to make of that line...any opinions would be helpful. 6) This is just a recent observance...but seeing as how some of you also were watching Rosie O'Donnell yesterday...she is always talking about that 5k run on May 23rd...If I'm not mistaken isn't that Jewel's birthday...and also up here in BC, Canada there are a few different runs for different causes all on Jewel's birthday....maybe we should all sign up a team or go by ourselves and support these great causes and sing Happy Birthday to Jewel on the run...hee hee...just a good deed thought which Jewel has come to inspire in me... Thanks for reading...Hope everyone had a great Easter...it's off Job hunting for me....hope all my questions get answered in one form or another...thanks Erin Angel who has said way too many times "Hey, he's got straight teeth and it's good sex." I posted this information weeks ago but apparently many don't remember it... YES, Jewel will be participating in Woodstock 99. I've heard nothing "official" about this yet, but I remember when Woodtock 94 happenned, the entire 3 days was available as a worldwide Pay-Per-View cable TV event. It's probably likely that something like that will happen again, so EDAs should have ways of catching this set regardless of where you are. We had a 3 day BBQ/Party here during the Woodstock 94 Pay-Per-View & it was MUCH MORE FUN than being there. Plenty of food & drink, available bathrooms & comfortable indoor & outdoor listening/viewing/videotaping 24 hours a day, hehehe. Sounds to me like another good excuse to throw EDA parties all over the planet. ;-) MrBB ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #182 ***************************
