(I'm new to the list) Hi Everyone! I just wanted to write a short note to the list and say hi, since I'm new. I was also wondering if anybody happened to see Jewel on VH1 last Sunday. I saw a little bit of it, and I thought it was great. What's your opinion? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Mar 1999 18:11:54 EST From: Harrisbros@aol.com Subject: NJC: Survey Update and Reminder... Well, since announcing the "EDA Registry", I've received 40 responses, including five from non-US EDAs. Not bad for two days. Pennsylvania has the early lead, with five EDAs, followed by California with four and several states with three. I personally know enough EDAs in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Texas to put them well into the lead, but hey, this is a voluntary thing, you know? Based on these early results (2% of EDAs reporting) The Harris Poll (TM) projects Wisconsin the winner (hey, they got a vote already, and I always go with the underdog!). Keep 'em coming in and I'll display a web page map that everyone can go to and see where all the EDAs (who want to be found) are. For those who missed my first post, here's a summary of how I planned to... >...database the general location (city/state), name, birthday >and email addy of any EDAs who want to be contacted with >notice of any local EDA gatherings or EDAF event...if you do >want to be included, email HarrisBros@aol.com. Even if you think >I know who you are and where you're at, send me the information >anyway! One warning: you will get some SPAM, SPAM, SPAM to >join us for EveryDay Angels Foundation events -- so consider >yourself fairly warned! Friends may not let friends rope plywood >cows, but they DO let friends in on the good stuff. Next week, I'll spill the beans on confirmed gatherings and an idea or two that a cereal box leprechaun whispered in my ear this past St. Patty's Day... :-) Dennis Harris ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Mar 1999 18:54:18 EST From: GwenThree@aol.com Subject: DSL (yeah i know it's been said, but i just saw it) Okay okay I know. We talked alot about DSL a few weeks ago, but I saw it for the first time on the NBC show "friday night". I have to say it was definataly diffrent. It reminded me of the Goo Goo dolls video for "iris" a bit. The part that made me think of this is where jewel id playing with the band. I didn't really like this video, although I did like the part where Jewel was in the "forest". I guess i was just dissapointed that I stayed up till 1:30am when I was dead tierd just to watch the video. (since i don't have cabel thi was probably my only chance to see it). Mabey I was just throw off buy the fact jewel was "rockin' out" with a band. :) Julia The doubtless angel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Mar 1999 19:24:10 -0600 From: Ronnie J Stratton Subject: Music If any of you EDA's out there play guitar or another instrument, I really suggest going to ON*CUE or Tower Records and snatch up the "Pieces of You" lyric and music book. It has the words to all of the POY songs and the accompaniment. It's only $20 and I saw it today at the mall. There's one copy left at ON*CUE music store in Rogers Arkansas at the Dixieland Mall. So if any of ya EDA's are Arkies, I suggest getting it!!!!!! - -RJ The Bubbly Angel 0: ) "Love bravely, live bravely, be courageous. There's really nothing to lose. (knock on wood!) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Mar 1999 18:22:10 -0800 From: Rowdy A White Subject: NJC: mailboxes EDA's Well, unfortunately I am home early.. I was reading through the digests that I had missed (yes, I switch to the digest before I left, but I quickly switched back.. more about that later) Anyway, someone wrote that they were tired of getting so many emails from the list, because she can only check her mail once a week... 35 is a big number (for digest, for loose mail it could be half-an hour sometimes......) Anyway, she wrote > i don't want to unsubscribe it's just i thought i >should make a point to let you all know about the unnecessary amount of > mail I'm receiving because you people can't wait until all the posts have > come in o send out the mailing list. just my opinion I am guessing "you people" is referring to Mike.. (See, I told you people noticed the multiple personalities, mike!!!) but really, I am sure Mike has addressed this, but I think the reason he sends out multiple digests a day is that if he waited a full 24 hours before sending a single digest out then that email would be too large for most ISPs to accept as is... which creates hassle for him and some EDAs (on Juno, attachments can be a pain..)..... Anyway, now for my own thoughts which bear no relevances on anything what so ever.. After these couple of days, I have discovered that I dislike the digest form of this list.. There is no real reason.. I mean, it is just all the content complied, but it is just not same to me.... I guess it is like a worldy scholar who has studied some sort of craft like say, blacksmithing... He can look at something a blacksmith has made, and know exactly what was done, and how it was done, but yet his hands are soft and uncalloused, since neverbefore has he forged anything, just merely studied it, and therefore feels detached, left out.... that is not a precious metaphor, but it is best way I can relate what I felt reading the digest.... Left out somehow... Kinda like reading the newspaper about something that you once had something to do with, but have recently left.... but that is just me I guess.... I highly recommend the loose version to those EDAs who can handle many emails... it is well worth it......... On a different note... As I was hitchhiking back from Houston after breaking down, a young-man driving a car with a jewel sticker on the back (the one with the black background with the flower of life..) pulled over as if he was going to give me a ride, and as I came close he sped off, showering me with gravel... Now, if he is an EDA, and might be reading this I want to thank him..... Shortly after that a pretty young woman stopped and drove me about 150 miles.. It was a enjoyable experience, and now she and I talk through email.... So, if you might be the jerk who was driving towards Austin late afternoon on wed., thank you...
