I only joined yesterday so you could say I'm pretty overwhelmed at the sudden overflow of e-mails I recieved this morning. But I love it, b/c they are all talking about the one who has changed my life and inspired my heart - Jewel. I have one problem, though. I have no Jewel material other than Pieces of You, Spirit, One Left Shoe - by Steve Poltz, and a few things taped off the TV. And I know I am missing out on a lot. This is why I'm reaching out to all Aussie EDA's ( as their location is more convenient) who may be able to help me get a hold of or send me any promo CD's/tapes such as Save the Linoleum, any singles with unreleased recordings, maybe even a CD or video of "The Wizard of Oz - In Concert," or ANYTHING. I am so desperate for anything at all. If you can send me or know of a way i can get hold of anything, apart from the items I already have, please, please, please let me know. Thankyou so much, Jess ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 23:44:06 -0000 From: "Barry" Subject: jewel featured in belfast telegraph there's a big article in today's (thursday) belfast telegraph. well worth the 28p to buy it! smile a lot Barry ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 19:04:46 -0600 From: Ronnie J Stratton Subject: Jewel/Teen transcript here's a transcript of the Jewel article in TEEN magazine, if ya wanted it. N*joy. -RJ Spirit of Jewel ___________________________________________________________________ "I like pressure," Jewel Kilcher reveals, "If I'm not on the edge of failure, I'm not being sufficiently challenged." One of those ambitions has already has already come true-and will arrive in theatres soon. Jewel portrays a Civil War bride in "Ride with the Devil". "It was the most simultaneously the most exhilarating and horrifying endeavor I've ever undertaken a while," she says. Yet she's not concerned about how people will respond to her screen struttin' or every creative turn she takes in the future. "I don't want to get on my deathbed and realize I worried about what doesn't matter." she says. Success for Jewel means keeping her priorities straight and her profile as low as a superceleb can. She's completely "no comment" about her romance with Chris Douglas. She doesn't even own a hot ride, tooling around in a Volvo wagon that she loves because "I can still go out an sleep in the desert." since she believes in giving back, Jewel and her management formed Higher Ground for Humanity to support charitable causes. And wherever she goes she carries a container of Alaskan soil to remind hr of her roots and the rough road she has traveled to get to the top. "I feel most of myself when I sing, but fame isn't that fun." Jewel says. "I'd rather be home." **************************************************************************** ***************** The middle part of it was crap that is pretty wide-known about Jewel, her homelessness, her struggle, her childhood. If ya really want it, I'll send it. - -RJ The Bubbly Angel 0: ) "Love bravely, live bravely, be courageous. There's really nothing to lose. There's no wrong that you can't make right again." -Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 18:23:30 -0800 (PST) From: Shaun Vaughan Subject: ANYONE LISTENING? WHATS HAPPENING?PLEASE READ. You know, I've been a Jewel fan for about...3 years I think. I didn't know her or was fortunate enough to her in her Innerchange days but as soon as I heard that angelic voice over the radio, I knew she something special. And the first time I saw her in the Wizard of Oz in concert, I was mesmerized by her raw beauty and her overpowering voice. Back then I didnt have the money for a computer, and no one I knew had one, so I wasn't able to join the EDA's and be "special". But recently...well in Sept to be exact entering my second quarter in art school, I was lucky enough to get a roommate with a computer. Hence becoming an EDA. But now through reading post after post its like everyone has adopted an apathetic demeanor on this list, like they dont care....and I agree I dont feel special. Especially when I get email telling me that basically I dont count because I wasnt around during Jewel Stock, ....to see what it was like back then. You know with some one as talented as Jewel is, it is only to be expected that her popularity would blossom and grow along with a following. I look at it like this: "Jewel is like a flower in a dry meadow spreading seeds across the arid landscape for others to bloom and flourish". But the impression I get is that the "veterans" look at it like we're multiplying like rats, spreading nothing but turmoil and filth. This is wrong isn't it? I mean what is the point. Im not putting anyone down dont get me wrong there are some really super nice poeple on this list but I think there are also a lot of poeple on here that don't belong..."The Image Club"...I've labelled them,...the ones that either are obsessed with her looks and like her for her beauty more than anything else or those that are more worried about their status in the mess of things whether or not they pull rank in the group. Well should we start electing representitives for this thing or what. The reason I joined this list is because I sincerely think Jewel is the most talented and meaningful entertainer to come around in a long time, and I love everything she stands for. I don't think she's Mecca, I don't bow down to her everyday and worship her, what makes her so special is that she is REAL not some god-like figure. I don't need to see her to enjoy her, I could care less what she WEARS or how she looks, its her music that matters the most to me... Now Im not going to lie to you and say that I dont like the way she looks, she is gorgeous, but her beauty is just iciing on the cake. I think whats wrong is that though this list was a great idea, I think the idea has turned into an institution and its taken for granted way too much. I don't know, I probably just turned the whole list against me. So I'll quit while I'm ahead. Sorry for the long letter. Shaun (Deep Water Angel) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 21:56:16 EST From: KBarcelona@aol.com Subject: Newbies rule and vets drool. Just a joke don't shot me Okay stay with me here. You know this whole vets vs. newbies thing. shut the hell up about it. Opps that not how it meant to start out let me start over. You know that thing you did as a kid if you didn't want to see something you would close your eyes and that really weird thing happened it would go away because you know you can't see it. Well, do that with this newbies vets war thing just stop posting about it okay most of the post know are from people saying they don't want to hear about it including this one. You know that thing in the bible that says cut off whatever body part causes you to send. Well, the next time you have an urge to post about that topic go get a shovel and knock the hell out of your computer. Then that will sorta save us a lot of reading. If we don't stop the madness the vets and the newbies will be like east side west side stuff they will be throwing up newbie and vet signs and crap. <> Feel free to now roll over in laughter until your sides hurt and you want to vomit because this is just SICK PEOPLE SICK SICK SICK. Look how Looowwwwwww. We have gone stop the madness. I hope and pray that soon this carnival of melodrama will stop.
