EDAs, Wow... I've made the first step.. I'm admitting that I have a problem. I am a obsessed fan of Jewel. Like many of us.... I have denied it up to now, but the proof is unrefutable... first of all, I was cleaning out my hard drive, and it came to my attention that the EDA posts just from what little of this year has gone by takes up 4.5MB.. and all my other Jewel related things take up around 10MB or so, and that is not counting the things stored on disks... Second, I realized a normal fan does not buy a separate CD or tape for every player in his house, truck, etc... But what made me truly realize it was early this morning... When I got up early and strapped on my climbing gear (the joys of being an electrical lineman) and climbed the pole in front of my house and pirated cable so I can watch biorythem tonight... this is not the first time.. I tend to climb the pole in the morning, turn it on, and then climb up and turn it off after the show.... Obsession rears its ugly head... Do I really think it is worth it? yeah, at least I'm not roping plywood animals..... Oh yes, here is the disclaimer: Please do not climb poles, unless you have the equipment and the training.. It can be dangerous. Falling hurts alot.. those poles give BIG splinters (I've got the scars,) and if it happens to be carrying electric service too, then the danger increases.. (4160 volts is not fun, I've seen a guy blow fingers off with it....) and pirating cable is illegal... one of the few reasons I do it here (besides to see Jewel) is that I know the chief cable tech here in my small town, and he turns a blind eye as long as I do not leave it hooked up.. Still in a little bit of shock of how ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY AWESOMELY KEWL that was! That was by far the best thing I've ever seen on Jewel on television. It was breathtaking! I loved how it made Jewel's rags-to-riches story seem so real again, and not just some interesting side note. I loved how it had so much old Jewel footage from the coffehouse days (new EDAs, this is a MUST SEE!). I loved how deliriously jealous it made me of all you old EDAs who saw her at Innerchange! I loved how MTV used Jewel's own poetry in the show. I loved how the show in its entirety felt like something personal, something like an EDA would make. When they showed Jewel's big break on Conan, I actually cried. I don't see who anyone could watch that thing and not want to go out and buy PoY, Spirit, ANWA, and anything else they can get their hands on! Heck, I want to go out and buy them again! They went through everything in her life smoothly without stressing anything strongly or making any events in her life seem more important than the other, which is great because most of the time, people tend to stress her time living in her van and it seems as if they want the public to pity her. Its like lately you cant be famous if you didn't have a rough childhood for them to make a rags to riches story out of. People cant be talented anymore. Jewel is deserving of all the fame she ever had, has, and all she ever will regardless of her past.
