Hello people, I am worried. The recent list poll shows only 14 English and 2 Scottish fans out there - not very impressive for an English-speaking country with a population of around 56 million. I'm worried that I might be very lonely at the Warwick Arts Centre in a few months' time (yeah, I know - I should go to the Royal Albert Hall concert instead...). I find it sad that such a gifted performer should be so overlooked in this country. I first came across Jewel on Jools Holland's TV show - just her and a guitar, playing, if memory serves me right, WWSYS. Then she was on again on Jools' 1997 New Year's Eve show. And that's it. The singles have never made a dent on our music charts, and she never gets played on the radio (it doesn't take a genius to work out that these two facts are connected). I used to think that real talent would always shine through the dross, but now I'm not so sure. If any UK angels can cheer me up, drop me a line. And if anyone can think of a way to bring this country to its senses, please let me know! Take care, Richard, the depressed angel :( History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake (James Joyce, Ulysses) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Feb 1999 18:01:30 EST From: NiKoS12@aol.com Subject: Re: Jewel on "Friday Night" That was pre-recorded. IT was a rerun. That was the same exact performance from her last Jay Leno Show. This was before her new band with steve was formed. lee In a message dated 2/27/99 1:11:21 PM, amacphee@email.msn.com wrote: >Hi my fellow EDA's, > Subject: Jewel on "Friday Night". I asked a lady working in Sanity, and she said Just Pieces of You and Spirit. If that's true, it's a real shame. I've read about all these other great songs on the Internet, and I feel as though I'm getting jibbed!
