The part that goes "I always felt I was outside looking in on you." And since she used that line, she says the song was made from a scrap of poems, even though I'm sure it was just made from that one and another. >> This isnt directly related to the above quote, but it got me thinking. I remember seeing the Foolish Games video on mtv or vh1, and in the little text box it always said "music from and inspired by batman..." Isnt this information not correct? I seriously doubt Jewel wrote a song because she was inspired by Batman. Correct me if I'm wrong. Oh-so-cynical answer: A buncha suits from New York are having Jewel suck up to a buncha whiny media people. Serious answer: It means that the publicity folks at Atlantic have her scheduled for interviews, radio appearances, photo shoots, tv spots and the like. He also had a character in the book whose name was Nedra. Coincidence or could he possibly have been influenced by Jewel? >> No, he wasn't. :) heheh It's funny you mention this 'cause Jewel's intro for her song, "1000 Miles Away" is how she was reading this same book and she started saying ' ok, my engine's wrong with my car b/c I'm having trouble getting started in my life.' (it's much funnier when jewel says it) then she says how that basically had to be the problem 'cause she had no money to fix it. Then she goes on her spiel about how your hands manifest your thought so you should be careful what you're thinking. :) and anyway, she mentions the car in her song. It's a great story. :) Peace, Priscilla "Maybe it's my battery, maybe it's my starter, maybe my heart's too weak." ~ JK ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Feb 1999 22:08:37 EST From: Turook@aol.com Subject: how Jewel has inspired me Hello fellow EDA's. I've been on the list for a long time now, actually I descovered the EDA's the week after Jewelstock...(if I only found it a week earlier I could have been part of something so great). Anyway, I have never posted because I more interested in hearing about everyone else and their experiances...but I have been holding my breath for to long now. I must tell everyone how everyday seems a little easier because of Jewel. I first hear Jewel on the lawn at Penn state. It was a free concert at that time and I was moved to tears. Ever since then I became a faithfull listener, but recently it has turned into more. This past September I was diagnosed with Hodgkins... a type of cancer of the lymph nodes. I was 19, in my second year of college, loving life. The rug got completely pulleed from beneath my feet. My life turned from worrying who i was going to party with this weekend to I cannot go out, I am bald, sick and can't risk getting other people's colds and soforth. I listened to POY everyday. Angel Standing by had gained new meaning. One day during my chemo session I heard Hands for the first time. "If I could tell the world just one thing, we're all ok" ... I started balling. Jewel has rerouted my thinking. Everything IS ok, and soon I will be all better. I thank Jewel for teaching mr to think positive and get through this. Ok, there wasd my long boring story.... ~"The angel who can't stop laughing" Amy "I hate fucking Valentines Day" -Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Feb 1999 20:10:54 PST From: "Jennifer Corley" Subject: Let Them In Lyrics Hi Everyone! I saw today's Jewel Digest with the words to Let Them In. I listened to the song tonight and I'm pretty sure some of the words are wrong. Here's what I think it says. (I'll put what's different in parenthesis) Let them in, Peter For they are very (tired) Give them couches where the angels sleep And (light those fires) Let them wake up whole again To brand new (dawns) And fired by the sun Not war time's bloody guns And may their peace be deep Remember where the broken bodies lie God knows how young they were to have to die Well, God knows how young they were to have to die. Give them things they like Let them make some noise Give (dance hall bands, not golden harps to these our boys) Let them love, Peter For they've had no time They should have birds, songs, and trees And hills to climb The (taste) of summer In a ripened pear And girls as sweet as meadow wind with flowing hair And tell them how they are missed But say not to fear It's gunna be all right with us down here It's gunna be all right with us down here Let them in, Peter For they are very (tired) Give them couches where the angel sleep And (light those fires) Let them wake up whole again To brand new (dawns) And fired by the sun Now war time's bloody guns And may their peace be deep Remember where the broken bodies lie God knows how young they were to have to die (Well, God knows how young they were to have to die) And tell them how they are missed But say not to fear It's gunna be all right with us down here It's gunna be all right with us down here Vaya con Dios, Jen Texas Angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #73 **************************
