He also had a character in the book whose name was Nedra. Coincidence or could he possibly have been influenced by Jewel? Speaking of Zen and the--you know the rest---is that a book or a mag that talks about motorcycles?Anyone know? In the context it was used in the book it gave me the impression that it was more like a novel, possibly. Have a Great Day! I don't know if this was ever discussed on the list when Foolish Games first became popular, and those of you who go over anything and everything Jewel has ever done with a fine-toothed comb (no offense intended) probably already know this, but I just wanted to say that I was surprised to see that former Go-Go Charlotte Caffey had performed piano on Foolish Games (it was mentioned today on VH1's airing of Where Are They Now: Girls, Girls, Girls), and had co-written a song with Courtney Love for Hole. She's stayed busy since the break up of the band. Just thought those of you who didn't already have this info would be interested. I forever have been looking for a full length copy of the original YWMFM video (the Sean Penn directed version). I finally thought to email the official site and see if they would put it in the video section. If anyone else is interested at least consider emailing them with the request. And since she used that line, she says the song was made from a scrap of poems, even though I'm sure it was just made from that one and another. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Feb 1999 00:28:07 PST From: "Abigail Greif" Subject: Jewel and Edwin McCain... Help needed. Hey beautiful angels :) I have this song by edwin McCain on tape, and I always tried to find out more about him, but never found anything... Is there anyone that has this duet on tape, and would be kind enough to dub it and send it to me?... (I could tape trade him or something :) ) Thank you! The first email to me of someone with absolutely no Angelfood and a explanation of their favorite Jewel song gets the tape completely free of charge -- I'll even pay the postage. Now that I've done my good deed of the day, on a related subject I am looking to trade 1995, 1996 and 1997 tapes for more recent Jewel concerts and stuff. Anyone with 1997 and 1998 (and I guess 1999) concerts looking to trade, please email me and I will send you a list for trading possibilities. I have about 20 tapes, so hopefully I should have some early stuff that not everyone has. If the original poster has a problem with her boyfriend's roving eyes, that's one thing, but I'm not certain I'm really grasping where everyone's disgust is coming in... I wasn't going to say anything when I read the first one, I sighed and shook my head and moved on... but I've read too many now, and I have to address this. What is so inherently disgusting about strip clubs? I mean yeah, they DO tend to be bars, and there's nothing too pretty about poison distribution centres, but I don't think that anyone would complain if they heard Jewel in a normal bar. Shoot, Jewel's probably played dozens of normal bars. So the problem here is the naked women? Kids, please, it's 1999. It's okay to take your clothes off. Is it pathetic to ogle? Rather. Is it a crime? I suppose it depends on where the trust lies in your relationship, but I'd say not. Do you think Jewel considers her music to be too good for that kind of establishment? She's played on top 40 radio, a strip club is a step up from that kind of iniquity. At least this place just has strippers, pop music is full of whores. Personally, I can't even imagine a strip routine to a Jewel song. Maybe it's due to my lack of experience with strip joints... like, zero... but it sounds interesting. Jewel's music is beautiful, yeah? Well, with a few exceptions (IMHO) it is... it's not exactly sleazy, sax-laden lounge jazz or pelvis-grinding disco, in any case. A dance calculated to involve her music could hardly be THAT bad. Well, I suppose it COULD... But hey, naked bodies are beautiful, too. damn, I derailed my train of thought again. Anyway, just don't be so judgemental. Maybe instead of begrudging your boyfriend for visiting the club, you might want to discuss the whys of it with him... but that's neither here nor there, is it. | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 21:21:06 -0500 From: "Rich Long" Subject: NJC: T-shirt project Hello All you EDA's My name is Rich Long and I am currently organizing the t-shirt project that started about a month ago. Well it is coming along very nicely and lots of designs have been submittied to me for consideration of the shirts' design. But obviously I won't be making the decision as to what it will look like. That is for all of us to decide. All the designs will be put on a web page at the end of this week to be voted on. I want to give EVERYONE (not just the people working on the project list) the opportunity to make there own shirt design and have it put on the page for consideration. So everyone that wants to; use your creative minds and make a shirt design. When making your designs you can not use anything that is copywrited already of course, this includes pictures of Jewel herself, any logos that represent her or HGH. The deadline to submit these designs to me is midnight Saturday the 20th. All designs will be excepted but not all will be put on the web page for voting if I get too many of them. I will also give EVERYONE the opportunity to vote as well at the end of this week. Once we decide on the design, all we will have to do is make them, and I am working on getting some estimates done up. Also keep in mind that this is a project that is not going to be used as a money making scheme and no royalties are going to be paid to the artist of the best design. You will just have the satisfaction of having your design possibly mass produced and worn on the backs of many EDAs. So Get your ideas in as soon as possible and happy creating. Sincerely, Rich "Jewels EDA" Long jewels@purdue.edu P.S. Please send them to me in JPG or BMP format. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #72 **************************
