It would definitely be cool to be able to spot other EDA's at concerts and such. We could all just design our own....we could just buy plain white T-shirts and use fabric paint to decorate them with Angel motifs and our Angels names..etc... I'm already getting excited about this years tour! It'll be my first Jewel concert and it would bwe wonderful to 'know' someone else there.... Hi folks, In case you have not seen it yet, a repeat airing Jewel's "Intimate And Interactive" will be on twice today on Much USA. It's on at9:00pm EST and again later at 2:00am Sunday In the show, which I believe was filmed in Toronto, Jewel performs and answers questions from a live audience via fax, phone and email. Mike :-) P.S. Also, just a reminder that if you have never heard Jewel's version of "All By Myself", on Sunday night at 7:00pm EST NBC will be airing Clueless in which Jewel sings that song. It occurs in the second half of the movie when the Alicia Silverstone character (Cher) is walking around depressed in downtown Beverly Hills. * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * Need some Angelfood? I was thinking that, here, in France it was because a large number of people does not speak english language and since the lyrics are very important in Jewel's song it could be an answer. I don't know exactly how Jewel is known in the rest of Europe but I remember that an Irish EDA wrote in the past few days about the difficulty of hearing about Jewel on TV or radio (sorry I don't remember very well), but in that case it is not a problem of language. What do you think angels ? Scott said: >I heard that someone wanted to start and EDA shirt. Well, as some on the list know, making a t-shirt can be expensive and time consuming. There is a way to pass that, the net. There are internet sites that do create shirts which you can order online. I dont have any sites off hand but i've heard they're pretty reliable. Also, I have an EDA pick from Mr. Montana which has a very nice angel on it. I personally think that an Angel would be a good way to go on a shirt.> My opinion: it's a great idea to make shirts despite the concerns of Scott and Mr BB. My stepmom works at a shirt printing company in Buffalo, and if someone would like to give me some ideas as to what they would like the shirts to look like if we do decide that this is something that we definitely want to do. I will need to know: what color shirt, what style shirt (long or short sleeve), and how many colors we want printed on the shirt-- to get a price. Also, the more shirts we order, the cheaper they will be. If anyone has any ideas, e-mail me privately; maybe we could from another eda project list for this (Mike?). ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Jan 1999 12:21:11 EST From: Lin11@aol.com Subject: Jewel Karaoke hey EDA's, I am looking for a karaoke version of Near You Always. Thanks Lindsay ;) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Jan 1999 08:45:22 PST From: "Pieces of You" Subject: EDA T-Shirt I like the idea of having an EDA T-Shirt (I know, I know.. About a million people have said it) That way, we could spot other EDA's.. Probably a bold color.. Maybe gold? Jewel's new CD has a lot of that color on it.. It should be a simple design.. A big angel with a crooked halo with a guitar.. Then the words Everyday Angels under it in big letters.. Then, in smaller letters, a Jewel quote.. "We are loved beyond our ability to comprehend," "What we call human nature in actuality in human habit,".. Something along those lines.. Maybe even "Lending our voices to sounds of freedom.." These are vague ideas.. Maybe someone can build on them.. In Turkey albums are published under licence but I noticed that Jewel albums aren't published here, they are imported by a turkish company "Ballet Plak". They are very few. I couldn't find POY CD. I bought its cassette and it is impossible now to find its cassette now. I bought Spirit CD on the first day that it released on Turkey. It was in December. And now it is hard to find it, too. When I tell about her to my friends and make them listen to her songs, they like her very much. I don't beleive that she can have a concert in a full stadium here... She needs more advertisement. But I want a concert here in Istanbul. We had Jethro Tull here twice and also had metallica, Alan Parsons, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Rolling Stones. Here in Norway, Spirit has not yet reached the Top 40 Albums chart, although the re-release of Pieces of You made it to #5 in 1997. I think that they should advertise Spirit a bit, but here in Norway I think that it will come, they just want some more video clips to show in the TV-ads first, 'cause usually when they only have one video in a TV-ad, it doesn't sell as many as those with several.... In Sweden it spent one week in the Top 60, I think, but I don't know about the other countries.... Maybe they've got their own "Jewel"s? At least we have many popular artists here in Norway who is not very different from Jewel (eg. Lene Marlin & Unni Wilhelmsen, who will be released worldwide soon), and I guess they'd rather go for norwegian artists than american, and that might be the reason in many countries. Does anyone else have an opinion? It is small so I will type it up for you guys. Also there is a small pic of her in the back on pg124 but it is talking about her wearing pink and there is other people in pink and there is a picture of her on a roof top in a red dress and stuff and the caption says "Gem of a singer:Jewel sparkles her sceond time out. Jewel: At the end of the day, this is just pop usic. It isn't like saving lives. I don't think it matters too much. My job is to honestly portray where I'm currently at and work as hard as I can. The rest is up to fad, fashion and timing. TP: Even if you're not saving lives, you do affect the lives of your fans. J: I write my records for myself and for the kids that listen to them. Whne my first record was out, I became so self-conscious and thought, "How can you even walk out on stage?" Then I relized:Kids get it. Kids get what I'm about, what I'm honestly trying to say, even my shortcomings. TP: Is it fustrating to be lumped into the "women in rock" category? J: I cannot wait for the whole Chick Rock thing to biol over. I don't overidentify with my sexuality,, in the sense that the media blows it up. I don't like being called a "great female singer-songwriter" or the idea that I'm competing more with Alanis Morssette than with a male musican. It's sort of silly to me. I don't like to see us pitted against each other. TP: You've had incredible success at a very young age. Where do you see your career going from here? J: I was nineteen when I put out my first record,. I'm only twenty-four now, and of course I'm going to have songs that aren't great or perfect yet. But I don't think about that now as much as I think, "Will I be here in twenty years?" I think people will have a much better idea of who I am in twenty years than they will of me now. It' impossible to know me too well right now. We could use this design for our EDA tshirts. It's the cutest little angel sittin in the clouds and it says-- "We are Everyday Angels..." -jk --underneath it. This is on the back. On the front, in the top, left corner, it could say Jewel's Everyday Angels with a little halo on the "A". I designed it myself so there wouldn't be any copyright laws prohibiting the distribution I wouldn't think. It's a sky blue long sleeve shirt and the writing is navy blue. The angel is purple with a navy dress and silver wings and a yellow halo. I could scan the picture and send it out to those of you who would like to see it. we could change it around a little bit...I could add a guitar, as someone had mentioned earlier. We could also take the quote off and just put Everyday Angels above the graphic and another quote below it. I am willing to take on this big task. There is a company I could have print them for us (they printed my pageant shirts) and the long sleeve shirts will run $16 plus my cost to ship them to you. I can also get short sleeved shirts printed with or without a pocket on the front. Those would run about $13 plus shipping. The more people I have order shirts, the less they'll cost me, and in turn, the less they'll cost you. I'd be glad to get it done. But before I can do it, I will need to have some kind of idea of how many shirts that I will need printed. It will take about a month to get the shirts completed and sent out. This is just another idea. If enough of you are interested, say even 50 people, i can go ahead and get them goin. Just let me know. Sorry this post is SO long. Later, my dear angels.
