I'm noticing a lot of names cropping up recurrantly... For example, being a drummer I've heard of Vinnie Colaiuta. I don't remember why he was famous, perhaps he just wrote some books or something. But I recognized his name in the liner notes for Spirit. Then, after Alan posted the list of performers in Jewel's tour band, I was looking at a Tori Amos history page (I've just discovered that I love Tori a lot) and noticed that on Tori's pre-career first album (read: embarrassment), the guitarist from Mr. Mister was her guitarist (that is, the one who's touring with Jewel now), and who played drums? Vinnie Colaiuta! I wonder if Tori is smugly thinking "hah, look at that, she's stuck with the dregs of the low point of my career..." ^_^ On a related, but not Jewel-related note, I was looking at other credits and it seems the same guy (Matt Chamberlain) played drums on both Tori's From The Choirgirl Hotel and Fiona Apple's Tidal. You'd think there were more session players in such a big industry... but then, this guy is GOOD. And has anyone else noticed that Howie Weinberg at Masterdisc has mastered like EVERY recording to come out in the last ten years!? | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jan 1999 16:37:16 PST From: "Jessica Maki" Subject: NJC: Jewel shirts and Wizard of Oz Hi fellow angels-- After reading another EDA's post about he going to the Jewel concert in NZ and what not and he was talking about wearing something, a little light bulb went off in my head. I decided I wanted to make a t-shirt for when Jewel (hopefully) comes out to California for her Spirit tour. I figured maybe it could have my angel title and a picture of Jewel on it or something along the lines of that. Anyway, would any of you happen to know how much doing so would cost? Like a ballpark, or anything? Or even better, where can you go to do this? It'd help me out alot if you told me, (that is, if you KNOW) thanks a bunch! Oh, by the way! I'd just like to say I bought the motion picture soundtrack for The Wizard of Oz today (not the one with Jewel singing it, Judy Garland) at a steal-- eight dollars at The Wherehouse (in the used section) and there's twenty six tracks on here. I've been reliving childhood memories all afternoon :) Just thought I'd share, I just kind of thought about it right now. Well, suppose I'll be off now! Ciao angels! :) - --Jessica, the mischevious, tomboyish, in love angel that likes to "clumsly strum" her guitar :) ************************************************************ * Jessica ICQ: 3872338 * * * * AIM: skizopyro * * * * webpage: http://surf.to/dbjess * ************************************************************ ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #48 **************************
