Newsflash................... This just in.Jewel Has changed. So what get over it. She is just supposed to stay the same 4-ever hello that would suck if you don't like that she has changed then just put the old POY cd under your pillow and maybe the Jewel Fairy will come and make your wish come true.Uhhhh not. Their is about as much chance of Jewel devolving back into her old less wise self as well in Mikes words ~Walking naked on the moon~ which btw I woulnd't mind doing. This is you local Jewel reporter signing off. ~Pshyco Angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 15:32:13 EST From: Fairy2884@aol.com Subject: Jewel Hey guys. I just wanted to get my part in about the Jewel changing image thing. What is wrong with the fact that she changed?? She was 19 when she wrote POY now she's 23, correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't it make sense that she changed?? If she hadn't changed and her music was still the same as it was 4 years ago, I would be scared. I'm 14 so I understand this changing image thing quite well. This time last year, I thought I was a skater, by May, I was wearing flares and acting sorta preppy. This whole time I was scared to death of kissing, I mean really kissing. Then in June I got my first kiss. And I changed again. As a matter of fact, at the beginning of school I changed AGAIN!! Suddenly my poetry is touching and deep. And I find it harder to write stories, and when I do write then, they're not centered on sex anymore. And to what do I owe this to? My POY album. The poor cd is so played out it skips and jumps around. I feel bad for it! I owe my life to my ANWA book, and now my Spirit album. Don't get the wrong idea and think I'm an obsessive compulsive Jewel stalker or anything. I'm just your average teenage girl who was looking for something to cling to, something to keep them alive, something to be there when nothing else can be. So what I'm saying is, if you don't think that Jewel's growing up was a good thing, then maybe you need to grow up too. ~Amanda~ ~the poetic angel with the occasional mental lapse~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 20:42:27 EST From: JewelAng@aol.com Subject: Thanks Thank you Shiela for sticking up for me why is everyone (or almost) hate Jewel's change anyways, New supject. I've been thinking about Jewel's song Hands. I've been thinking about what it is all about. So if anyone has a n icea can you e-mail me. I think it would be different for a change (from all this nagging) Well better go. The Fallen Angel, Lily **We are everyday Angels** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 19:50:36 EST From: MAXMOUZE@aol.com Subject: Re: Today, someone called into the radio program (Mark & Brian from KROQ) and said "I'm so pissed that everyone is saying Metallica sold out. They're just EVOLVING. If they had just played three chords like they did when they began, everyone would have said 'Oh, they're the same ole same ole. They never change. People just like to find something wrong with the group. They didn't sell out -- THEY EVOLVED!!!". Mark or Brian then said "Yeah, but it's common with people because they hear music and it touches them in one way and being able to touch their heart like that, that's powerful. And when that artist goes and changes, they feel like they're losing that attachment they had." So basically people feel abandoned when the person who performed all of this touching music tries something new, when they admired the old performance better -- and if they never do a performance like they did before, no one will (i.e. if Jewel never sings "Pieces of You" again, then it will never be heard - -- even if someone else sings it, it's not the version that touched you). I think people are also paranoid because one minute Jewel was homeless and singing out of passion and now it's a career for her. Her experiences have been heightened from singing about living in your car ("A Thousand Miles Away") to singing about how it is to change the world, since she now has the world listening to her and has the power to influence decisions. - -- Mark ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 Jan 1999 18:10:26 PST From: "Scott Evans" Subject: Jewel on E! Hey everyone! I turned to E! just in time to see a 5 minute news clip on Jewel talking about 'Hands,' HGH, the movie, etc. It had part of an interview and a clip of Jewel on the set. I unfortunately didn't tape it. My sister took my VCR, and I wanted to enjoy the moment. Maybe someone else can catch it? Scott ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 20:26:04 -0600 From: lloyd@mbox2.singnet.com.sg Subject: Jewel on VH1 Jewel is a....... ? Naaaah, no comments on her for now. Every seems to have so much to say about her and I have already contributed my part. I remember reading a lot of postings from people looking for the Jewel around the campfire commercial. VH1 now has that series of commercials on their website, under Behind The Music, so anyone who wants to see it can just link there and view it using RealPlayer. Seems that they are building up towards some Behind The Music event. A cautious question.... Jewel said that she wanted Spirit to be produced in a way where it would be suited for concert performances. Do you think she succeeded in her objective? I think there is truth to the idea that certain compositions are better suited to different localities. I never had the privilege of hearing Jewel live at any venue so cannot really comment on that. Dropped by the Jeweljk.com site, very nice! The rumours page had this bit on how some people are apparently "concerned" at a supposed nude topless scene in Ride With The Devil. Just hint nude... gossamer (ummmm, that's the translucent stuff if I spelt that correctly) and the Jewel critics(? lack of a better word) gavitate towards it. I hope they show some Jewel concerts on TV, would really like to see one. She has grown musically(sp). Her sound is > more mature more updated. Why is this bad? I like her old stuff too, but i I don't understand why everyone seems to consider this new sound more "mature"... is it simply because she literally is older than she was? Is it because maturity and sensibility are often considered synonymous and it's more sensible in many ways to have a more commercial sound? I think one person, able to crowd rock on their own, has to be pretty mature. I mean, sit me on some drums with a few other competent players, and as long as we keep our ears open I'm sure we'll rock your worlds... but I know I have quite a ways to go before just me and my guitar can entertain you. As a musician, I'm still roving in gangs. I think it's an issue of maturity that I'm not yet ready to stand on my own (well I can, but hip hop is different). So um, there you have some convolution. > also love the new stuff. I think it is wonderful that her music is evolving. > This means her carrer will last longer because she can keep pace with the > times like some other wonderful women in the industry (main example Madonna). Personally, I didn't fall in love with POY because it represented excellent career prospects. > I don't think Jewel is changing her lifestyle. I don't believe Jewel is Heh... YES, Jewel has changed her lifestyle. She is BLOODY RICH. ^_^ > changing her lyrical writting. It is still thought provoking and beautiful. > The only thing that really changed was the music behind it. AND just think I disagree. POY was full of stories, and Spirit is full of directives, sermons, advice. There's a little bleeding around the edges of both, but that's how I see it. > what our lives would be like if music didn't progress. We would still be > listening to the sounds of the ocean and calling it music. Hey, I must take issue... the sound of the ocean IS music. > The Ice Ice Baby Angel (at least for right now) I do have to give you props for having the guts to openly link your own name with that particular piece of pop music history... every one seems so scared of Rob Van Winkle... ^_^ | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 08 Jan 1999 15:01:42 1223 From: Jordie and Iljin Subject: Re: Need Your help ASAP with Jewel song lyrics Errin_benoit@hotmail.com said: >Halo Eda's :) >I need your help to find the words (and pronounciations) of >Lasciatemi Morire.
