Long (Jewels EDA)" Subject: Update on the poll... please read! Hi angels! You all know the TOP 10 poll I'm doing right... well... Thank you so much for participating... all of you really made my New Year's Day... what can i do... I'm a sucker for charts and stuff... I already got votes for almost 100 different (eligible) albums and just when i think some album will sadly go unacknowledged... the next voter has it on their chart... I just love it... and even if I get a couple of thousand responses I would only get happier!! Flood me :)) Oh and hereby I would especially like to thank: Mr. BB (still can't believe he actually participated... far out) Kevin & Katie for taking their time and giving insightful comments along with the votes!!! I gotta check some of those albums - they sound mighty intriguing! - --> Those of you who voted for less than 10 albums... can still e-mail me anytime with the additional albums that came to mind later... - ----------- IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ---------------- HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: 1. Send me an e-mail with your favorite 10 albums of the past year! 2. It is REALLY IMPORTANT to send the list in the order of your preference... because it makes a huge difference if you put an album in the 1st or 10th slot!!! 3. And remember ONLY albums from 1998 and 1997 are eligible for this!!! So you CAN'T vote for albums like: - Yourself Or Someone Like You - Matchbox 20... that was #1 last year - Pieces Of You - Jewel - Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette - The Wallflowers - Bringing Down The Horse etc... 4. However if there are some reasonable circumstances I'm willing to make exceptions, you just have to write the reason along with the vote... for example... This Fire by Paula Cole was originally released in 1996 (Oct 15th)... but was also edited and re-released in 1997 (apr 1st) + it had two songs on the charts this year I Don't Want To Wait and Me + it got 6 Grammy nominations and one of them gave her a Grammy to take home... and to me those are reason enough to qualify for this! 5. You don't have to send the list of 10 albums. If you send more I will only consider first 10 and if you can't think of 10 titles you can always write what you can think of now and send me the rest later. If you can't think of the album title or something don't worry just send a brief description... like: the latest album by ??? I'm not saying I know everything - but I'm pretty much into this and so far it wasn't hard to resolve the "riddles" :)) 6. Of course voting is still open 'til January 10th!!! 7. --> The address to vote to is: romeantic@hotmail.com 8. No e-mail address or voter's name will be passed along to the SPAM-O-MANIA or CHAIN-ME-HAPPY mailing lists. For the best in spam and chain letters you have to be good and work hard throughout the year and who knows I might subscribe you for your birthday! 9. Only residents of the 3rd rock from the sun are eligible to enter this poll, and it must be sent from a terminal on this planet. and 10. If you don't vote you have no right to send me hate mail!!! - --------------------- MAY THE BEST ALBUM WIN -------------------------- That's it! I can't wait for the rest of your votes... so if you'd like to see your favorite album among the best of the year... send in your votes... the more of you participate the more balanced and "accurate" the chart gets... as more votes are coming in... some albums I expected to be high finally managed to surface from among those at the bottom!!! OK so unless some really important issue comes up... next you'll hear from me on the list will be sometime after January 10 with the results of this poll... so until then Thank you... and may 1999 be musically even GREATER!!! - -- Have fun and stay beautiful Dr. RomeAntic, an angel with the worst stroke of luck ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Jan 1999 22:13:48 -0800 (PST) From: Erin Subject: hi.=) Hello, everyone.=) I'm kind of new to this mailing list, so I was hoping that you could answer some questions: First, do you send each other tapes through the mail? And, are they free or do you trade them or what? And also, could someone maybe tell me where I can find a list of all the B-sides? Thanks, you guys are so cool.=) =] P.S.- Does anyone know if the piano part for Hands is tabbed out for guitar? Because, I can't seem to find it anywhere... Thanks.=) -Erin ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Jan 1999 08:10:15 EST From: Krz4catz@aol.com Subject: Re: I just wanted to tell all the EDA's ::I mean we all have changed if you ask me and you all know it yourself too. We all have changed. If we can change, then so can Jewel.:: I agree with Lily. Why don't we just accept that Jewel Kilcher is changing, with the makeup/backup players, etc. Her messages tell us to be kind to others, and that it's what's inside a person, their heart, soul, that makes up that person.... So what if she has makeup on and a backup band, maybe she might even be trying this to see if more people might give her music a chance and realize the message she is saying? If she wants us to look inside a person at who they really are, why are we to be so shallow and judge our inspiration by her clothes and band? Please think about it Just my own little 2c Sheila, an angel cast into the crowd who must search for inspiration to sing out. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Jan 1999 07:40:53 EST From: DKookyBaka@aol.com Subject: Re: Lost touch with the world around us! Hi, Dan made a good point. I don't really like Jewel for her choice of bands, but I like her for her songwriting and her thoughts. And I think that's what everyone looks up to. Not her choice of band. Read the lyrics to POY and Spirit, did her songwriting change at all? Nope, I don't think it did. Just think about it. Lesley P.S. Sorry I had to post, I know it's better not to when this is going on, but felt like it was something I needed to do. P.P.S. I was at the oral surgeon (to talk about getting my wisdom teethe pulled, i'm getting them pulled friday if you wanna now :). BTW, they're all bone impacted :( EEK!). Anyways, while waiting, I was going though the magazines, and found about 7 articles and 6 pictures looking through the Poeple and Time magazines. Of coarse all articles we've heard about (i.e. The Jewel lawsuit, Jewel and Chris making out, Spriti, ect). Well, next time you go to the dentist or something it gives you something to do :). ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Jan 1999 13:21:48 PST From: "Erin Benoit" Subject: Need Your help ASAP with Jewel song lyrics Halo Eda's :) I need your help to find the words (and pronounciations) of Lasciatemi Morire. If anyone can find or write up the lyrics to this song it would be greatly apprecated. I am trying out for a musical and I want to see that for my audition! Thanks in advance! Hey everyone!! The EveryDay Angels Yearbook is back up!!! http://www.endor.org/jewel/eda/yearbook To those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, let me introduce myself. I have been on the list a few years and am a lot less active than before. However, a year ago or so I created an online yearbook for this list. Unfortunately, about 3-4 months ago the data files got deleted and could not be restored. I recently moved the entire website from a UNIX server to a Windows NT server and rewrote the entire program. Now the web site is back up and working great. If you already have an entry, check it out, update it as you need, and let me know if you have any problems! Thanks, Gerrit ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Jan 1999 17:37:13 -0200 From: Solon Godinho Brochado Subject: Proposition Hi guys! Well, I was reading some Garfield cartoons today (what? how old am I? 20 years old) and there was this one strip that seemed to be an ilustration of all this discussion about how Jewel has changed. In it, Garfield awakes one day and feel an urge to be good to every one, so he goes out and start kissing everybody (Joe, Liman - I guess that's his name - and even Odie!). No need for me to tell you how odd it all seems to them. So Garfield ends locked up in a cell, wearing a strait jacket, saying that "People don't want kindness, they want stability" (or something like that. My cartoon is in Portuguese, and I don't know how precise my translation is). Anyway, I can see a lot of EDAs putting a strait jacket on Jewel and throwing her into a cell. By the way, I have a proposition to all those EDAs complaining about Jewel's stardom. Why don't you switch places with me? Here where I live (that would be Brazil, you know? that huge country in South America - curiosity: were it not for Alaska and Brazil would be bigger than the US) you don't hear Jewel on the radio, the only records you can get are POY and Spirit (no singles, no Promo CD's, and no angelfood - well, maybe you can get some angelfood, but it won't be easy) and if you're lucky (if you have cable TV, that is) you'll eventually see her in some Talk Show like David Letterman's. Ah, Jewel live? HAHAHAHAH! Don't make me laugh but I can't see her coming to South America in the near future (Mr.BB, correct me if I'm wrong). Oh, consolation prize: in here, Jewel is more famous than Garth Brooks. So, if anyone still prefers the not-famous Jewel, feel free to visit me and we'll do the first South American EDA gathering. Well, I guess I've made my point. I'm now ready for the complaints (they will come, I'm sure). Just remember this: I'm not complaining because I'm from South America, or because Jewel is not gonna tour in here (and before you ask me: I prefer Spirit, as a matter of fact, I always thought there could be more instruments on POY's songs). I'm only asking you to think better before saying you prefer "the old Jewel". Enough! Live long and prosper! P.S.:Sorry if my english is not very good. P.P.S.: Would any kind soul have the lyrics to Garth Brook's "Longneck Bottle" and send it to me? I will give you the address below but first a few things: The link I am giving you goes to my main home page because that is where my Counter is, and I want to know how many people go, but the Jewel Page is only one click away (literally) so please check them out. And If you want to go back to it you will HAVE to bookmark it or remember the address since the page is not registered it will not pop up in a search (yahoo, excite...etc.) So everyone check it out http://expert.cc.purdue.edu/~shortdog I would seriously LOVE any feedback you have about my homepage or my Jewel Page Thanks so much EVERYONE, Rich "Jewels EDA" Long P.S.
