If you really can't think of a more personal gift to someone, you can send them a reminder of your own likes. :) oh, the cards can be purchased in any amount from $10 to $100. No idea if the non-US Towers have anything to do with them or not... Jewel's performance included a stirring rendition of "Hands," the hit single from her new album, "SPIRIT," with the 100-piece Monte Carlo Symphony and a 40 voice choir, as well as the traditional Christmas carol "What Child Is This," which she sang with her mother. The concert, which was taped on December 19th, will be broadcast internationally on Christmas Eve to predominantly Catholic countries. http://www.atlantic-records.com/jewel Does anyone know a channel which will broadcast this performance????? It's showing on different days or not at all depending on the part of the country. You'll need to check *local listings* or call your local PBS affiliate to find out air times & if they'll carry it. It's also not being called anything consistent throughout the US. So far several different listings have been seen such as "Christmas at the Vatican" & "Music from the Vatican". Jewel performed "Hands" with the 100-piece Monte Carlo Symphony and a 40 voice choir , as well as the traditional Christmas carol "What Child Is This," which she sang with her mother. The concert, which was taped on December 19th, will be broadcast on Christmas Eve in Italy on Canale 5, throughout Europe on various networks & in many US locations on various PBS stations. (In the US, broadcast times & name of program will vary! Check local listings. I will not have that info. Post your findings to the list so others may benefit, please.) Also in response to several emails from Jewel-news subscribers who were upset some of my recent info posts were not posted there in a timely manner or not at all: It's not my fault! I DID POST THEM THERE. I have no idea why they didn't go through. Perhaps we have sleepy or vacationing Jewel-news moderators? I'll likely talk to you one more time before the holiday but in case not, Have a wonderful holiday & heres to music galore in 1999! Go to http://pbs.org/whatson/tvcal.html and click on "check with your local PBS station" to see if your station/affiliate has a web page and if they have the show listed. (I would STILL also scan local TV Guides and newspaper listings, just to be safe) Remember, as Alan said it could be on anytime and any of the next few days....I saw last years' Vatican show on the first Sunday night after Christmas. She gave an explanation of why she made the song, and it was because of a friend she had who was overweight, and he committed suicide because of it. The song doesn't exactly talk about that aspect of her friend's life, but in my heart ever since that track off of Spirit has touched my heart in a certain place, and which is why that is my favorite song off of Spirit. I thought I would just tell that to all of you. :) And also, I'd like to thank deeply all the people who gave me suggestions on what acoustic guitar I should ask for from "Santa" for Christmas. I will email all of you what mo-- er, "Santa" gave me on Christmas day. :) Well, s'pose I shall be going now. So I can show off to my uncle what exactly I can do on the 'net, heh.
