I don't think I've read one post yet where anyone's said that what she said wasn't rude... the fact is Jewel is human after all and all humans have their off-days... as Mike said, she's not only busier now than she has been in a while with interviews and appearances and stuff but also her grandfather has just died, something which obviously is going to place a lot of emotional stress on someone... hell, when one of my best friends killed himself back in '93 I didn't feel like talking to anyone for a week and basically shut myself off from the world... I guess that's kinda how she must be feeling at the moment... I'm sure she didn't really mean to upset the interviewer and in fact I wouldn't be surprised if she apologised to him about it later... My first reaction was the strong feeling that I weanted to cry. I didn't, though, because I'm pretty much out of tears for the week. All I ever see on the list lately is bad things. About jewel, about us, about other fans, about other artists....... All we ever do is critisice! People, come on! This is a JEWEL mailing list. If all you can say about her is bad-please, don't spoil it for those of us who love and cherish her as both a person and an artist! Jewel is merely a person, and a damn good one, but she is, after all, a person. Jewel lost her grandfather this week, and I can say that in a way-I know how she feels, cuz I have lost a very loved teacher this week as well. I have to be honest about this-i was a bitch the first few days. I felt lousy, and didn't want to be around people. You have to undestand that she also goes through good times and bad times, only hers are exposed to the eye of her public, which makes it harder on her. I believe that Jewel is a good person. I love her, and cherish her very much. She really had helped me through a lot, and I don't believe it was hypocrit or whatever.... I think her poetry and music reflect her soul very accuratly, and I like what's there. So if anyone doesn't, maybe this is the wrong list for them. Jewel was close to her grandfather and is reportedly devastated by the sudden loss. I do think that the discusion on the list has been pretty clean. We have been debating different interpretations and not flaming different opinions. No need for a full blown sheriff for a defense council, it is taken care of with much thought and logic. Hints when responding to email, wait a coupla days after recieving a mail that just ticks you off. Coll off then respond with a well thought out response. Back up your points with fact, not just emotion, it tends to inflame the situation instead of cooling it down. let us think about it for awhile. Thank for hearing me out.
