I know Jewel is only a person but I had to get this off my chest. Here goes: Does anyone think that Jewel has gotten her ego just a TINY bit ahead of herself? I am not talking a complete 180 new different personality type thing, but sometimes when I listen to radio interviews it seems as if she has just a little bit. I hope some of you will comfort me in my Jewel-distressism (LOL) and just tell me that reporters will always write bad articles because they are simply that: reporters. The reason why I ask of this is because of the radio interviews such as the one Diana an EDA posted about. Charlie is a fan of Jewel's and this is what Jewel said: JEWEL: Do you know anything about me?!?! CHARLIE: well, yes I do (nervously) JEWEL: Then why are you asking me this?!?!?! CHARLIE: Well, I'm asking you this for the listeners benefit. JEWEL: The listeners know everything about my believe me?!?! CHARLIE: Well, I'm sorry Jewel, I'm sorry if I've offended you in anyway!! Person or no person that really was rude. I am still a loyal fan and I will not put up with stupid remarks back to me such as "But your a fan, why would you say such a thing about Jewel???!!!". I find that sort of comment utterly idiotic. If somebody killed someone (and it was someone you REALLY looked up to) would you say that? And as I thinking about this, I was reading some (actually about 50) posts about how the new album is country, or how Jewel turned country or some crap like that. If you really think about it, the only reason why everyone is saying that the new album is different is because there are a billion different accompaniments in all of her songs. In POY, all her songs except for Foolish Games, were only made by using her vocals and her guitar. In the new album, she has piano, bongos (or whatever they are called), and other stuff. The fact it is different is just throwing everyone else off track, and people either like or they don't . I personally love them both because they give out the same impact and emotion, and yet it's all from a different angel. Please don't flame me. I love you guys! I couldnt agree more. The more I learn about Jewel the more I think she is a hypocrite. I find the whole thing very intresting though. I enjoy listening to her music and perhaps fine lines should be drawn between the artist and art. Rarely are excellent writers or articians descent people. You have to be a little messed up in the head to become one in the first place(personal experiance). What annoys me most is that Jewel, from my understanding, is a humanist claiming that everybody is basically "good" and that we are all products of our environments and that in order to be good we must be surrounded in good. That is the biggest load of $Hitsu on earth(there is lots of $hitsu on earth). Jewel is living proof that just because you are raised in a beautiful environment doesnt mean you will wind up a good person.lol I guess the only optimism I can have is that she'll do some thinking and realize that all people are inheritly bad and that good can only exist by making a concious descision to do so. That is what makes us human. If I could tell Jewel just one thing, it would be, were ARENT all ok. Bad doesnt necessarily result in good. Sometimes it's just bad. Absolute truth DOES exist. Post Modernism is a "feel-good" philosophy that sells records. If Jewel shot herself in the head that would be bad. Initially, I was shocked when I read that interview (Globe & Mail) but the more I thought about it the more likely, it seemed. To steal from Star Wars, her journey to the dark side is now complete. Fame, money and power corrupt the soul and the soul of Jewel has indeed been corrupted. Wake up and smell the coffee boys and girls ­ it is over. The circle is now complete. Jewel will not hang round and meet fans after her concerts on the upcoming tour (she’ll be whisked away in a limo counting her cash). She will not be signing your cd’s. She will not be shaking your hand. Soon, she probably won’t let you take her photo! She has become a hoax who is sitting back laughing at you. Further evidence of this was seen with the recent Charlie and Athina show. Some explain this by saying she’s stressed. Well, she’s been doing interviews for years now and should be comfortable during them, even if they ask the same questions. Hell, I’d have 100 million reasons not to be stressed if I were Jewel. She has become one manipulative stuck-up woman who’s quest for intellectual recognition will never come to fruition and rightly so. I really don’t care if Jewel is stuck up or snide but what I hate is that she puts on this “act”. It’s time to come clean Jewel Kilcher. I also have a few conspiracy theories regarding this list. Firstly, it is my belief that Mike is now been paid for his efforts on this list. It explains many things such as extreme moderation (e.g the lawsuit) and the constant “explanation” of Jewel ­ Oh she’s “stressed”. Regardless if this is true or false, I have no doubt that he is now bound by certain regulations imposed by Jewel’s management. Secondly, this video idea is pathetic. Considering Jewel’s sold 10 million albums at say $20 a pop and 0.5 million books at $15 a pop, she now has so much cash she could burn it and heat Alaska for years. Getting her “fans” to come up with an idea is crap and is merely to keep the odd 2000 eda's in line. 2000 hard core fans are equivalent to 100,000 ordinary fans. Put them off and you’ve lost a big part of your fan base. How many of you have told your friends etc to buy Jewel’s albums. But don’t fear people, I doubt her next album will be country. She’s dating a cowboy so of course she thinks the world of country. Remember how she was going to do a Christmas carol album? Well, she was probably dating Santa Claus!!! Who really cares?
