I just read the post about the Winnipeg free press.....and I actually got sick to my stomach! I have never heard a more horrible review in my life! What a low person to say such things of a person who has inspired and saved so many of our souls from depression and lonliness. Of course amoung all the other wonderful benefits Jewel's music grants us. Of course this is only my personal opinion....but anyone who could write that about Jewel....must or has to be jealous. What do you think? I apoligize for my strong wording...I just couldn't help myself but express how upset I was about that. Anyway...he/she...or whoever wrote that....has no idea how pure and real Jewel is. Its obvious through her music that she cares for us all and she just wants to bring happiness to us. Her creativity is amazingly....and her words send chills through every part of my body with every clean and original note of her songs! And I am one to stand up for her reputation and her music. She has a mind unlike no other and a humbleness that many do not understand or accept because they are too shallow and jealous to give her that chance. Open your eyes all you critics and respect this woman. Her thoughts and lyrics are from her heart and should not be judged but accepted. I do believe in free speech....but I don't think that critics should be so quick to judge until they have researched the person fully and learned all they can. And the person who wrote that small review obviously knows nothing of who Jewel is and what she has done for alot of us invisible souls....who look up to this person with open eyes and wide open hearts. I suppose this post is becoming a response to another post that was up. About what you think of Jewel..... Well.. I have said alot about what I think of Jewel. And for some reason I cry now....not because I', a wuss...or whatever...its just that her voice and her smile and her whole aura gives me a sense of peace when everything in my life seems to be going downward. And everytime I think that things could never get worse....somehow....it gets better....and her new album is showing me a side of faith that I had lost for the past 5 years. She gives me the inspiration to wake everyday, put in her tape in all that rush hour traffic and somehow go through the day with a smile on my face thinking...." Not to worry cause worry is wasteless and useless in times like these." And in response to a previous critisim on her song "Hands,"....I went to the bookstore today and spent about 2 hours searching through magazines and books for things about her. Mainly because I have just been so exited about telling all of you all I can find out. Because I believe the more we learn about her...the more we can convince more people to love her...or maybe just give her music a chance. But anyway.. ( gosh....sorry this post is so long....Please forgive my long-winded ness...) I was able to read some of her writings in the new book called "Solo." ( Which I wasn't able to afford....its...$14.95 I think...) And there was a part where she said something about her hands. She mentioned that her hands are the tool to express her thoughts ...or something to that nature........so on and so forth...( Forgive me..I can't remember word for word...) And I believe that the line in "Hands" has to mean...."My hands(thoughts)are small I know.....but their not yours they are my own...."....So I think that she replaced "hands" with "thoughts." Just my little analogy...hehehe Oh .....and I will be getting that book soon....I hope...and I think you all should go look for it.....the pictures of her are very good as well.. oh...ONE LAST THING!! LOL ( Oh my this is long!!! Hope I havent put you to sleep....) I got the Rolling Stone magazine....December Issue.... Jewel is on the cover and on the other side of the cover.... I have not read the article yet....but it is a very long interveiw....and the picture of her are at the least....very eccectic....and strange you might say....they are unlike any photographs of her that I have seen. One in particular I am confused as to the meaning of it....you will understand which one I am talking about when you see it... I can't tell you what my opinion of this one picture is...because I believe it is a little to graphic an opinion to post.... But it is a very arty/abstract photograph.. If anyone would like a scanned copy of any of the photographs in the picture...please ask...and you will most definately receive... Ok.. Ive written way more than I had planned... The article is really great and looks a lot deeper into an open, conversational and responsive Jewel, a side of Jewel that is rarely seen in public. Instead of the article being the typical, reporter asking questions, and star answering, this article makes you feel like you're sitting there with Jewel. It shows an intimate, friendly atmosphere with Jewel describing her mannerisms, a lot of unknown facts and giving Jewel a physical presence (like you can see what she's doing and how's she's acting) as only Rolling Stone can do. The article is more like a story than an interview. I think it's excellent. An added bonus is that you don't only get Jewel but a whole lot of other great articles including a time line of entertaining events in 1998 plus a lot of Moustache Milk adds (I love those). So all you EDA's who haven't gotten the issue go and spend the $4.95 (If you don't have a subscription) and enjoy the read....It's really worth it! Jason the all music lovin' angel!!!
