hi everybody!  long time, no post.  seems i can't post these days without being
ripped apart privately by five or six people.  oh well...throwing caution to 
the wind;

i had the best day off ever this past tuesday.  i got an email a week prior to
that day informing me of a brilliant opportunity from mr.bb.  can't thank him
enough.  i eagerly responded that i'd love to be in nyc at mtv for jewel tv.

for those of you who know the characters, this story will be extra special.
for those of you who don't...sorry.

paul kim and i got kidnapped by tessia berberian on monday night (we didn't
resist) and got stowed away in worchester (mass.) for the evening to get an 
early start on tuesday morning.  what a cool place they have...massage
table and
everything!  gotta hang out there more often (moynihan!  call to arms, car
boy).
anyway, i spent the night in the sensory depravation tank that is the cellar at
the berb's house...i swear to you all, i could not see my hand in front of my
face at all...even after my eyes got accustomed to the dark.  i couldn't even
tell when i was blinking.  oh well, who needs to see to sleep, right?  it was a
good sleep.

got up at 6am, wrestled my socks from one of their dogs (what was it's name?
maroonah, or something?), and was ready to go.  traffic forced us (ted, tessia,
cheri, paul, and i) to find a train station sooner than expected in
connecticut.
no problem for us, cause we're cool, right?  right.  for a mere $40, the five
of us hopped a cool train with batman as the ticket collector.  it was stupid
to think we could have napped on the train, excited as we were.  the hour long
trip passed in no time (figuratively speaking...i mean, c'mon, we can't
bend the
laws of time and space), and we soon found ourselves in grand central station
(which, as the name implies, is quite grand).  with a quick pit stop, we
hit the
streets, ready for anything.

ended up at times square (we're such good navigators) around 20 to noon.  
planned on meeting a few people at 12, but it didn't happen till a little
later.
no big deal.  alan and amyjo were the first to reveal their presence to us.  we
gabbed for a bit and found out who was where and what they were all doing.
that
damn harris guy showed up and everything took a turn for the weird (as is the 
norm when cavorting with any of his clan).  most excellent friends showed up 
more and more with each passing minute.  amy, laura, her bud drew who was
fun to 
finally meet, the snyders, and the west coast enigma that is adrian...never 
thought i'd get to meet this fella.  very cool dude.  hit the olive garden for 
lunch after much hemmin' and hawin'.  i guess it takes the absence of our cool
travelling partners, tessia and cheri, to get us to move our asses.  hunger 
helped, too.  lunch was fun...rushed, but fun.  had to be back at the studio 
so we didn't miss out.

met a throng of friends at the line waiting to get into the studio.  jon and 
crunch made the trip from pa.  that was so great to see.  even though it's only
been a couple of months since i last saw them, it always seems like ages.  
waiting in line with them was a treat as opposed to the chore it could have
been
as cold as it was.  a pleasure to see them.  also saw ali, abel, leif,
eric, and
a few others.  it felt like another cool gathering as opposed to an opportunity
to see jewel (oh yeah, there's a reason for this post).  if we had more notice,
i'm sure we could have stretched this into a two day affair at the least.
aahh,
someday, the eda's will storm manhattan again in force...with a purpose and 
with a vengance (for what, i don't know...but it'll happen).

finally got inside, after the background check and cavity search.  lucky me, 
i got to sit right in front of the interview couch.  luckier was i, that i was
seated next to the coolness that is tessia "i can't believe they took my
chapstick" berberian.  after a quick seat change, i settled in for the highs 
and lows of live television.

carson daily is a silly nilly.  'nuff said.

i've never been so excited for songs i don't even like.  tis the life and times
of a hired audience.  that is the secret to "total request live."  at least my
buddy tess kept me interested in sitting up straight and keeping my eyes open.
this lasted an hour.  it's an hour of my life i'll never get back.  [sniff]

after that, it was 15 seconds to jewel tv.  how cool.  she came on and sat 
directly in front of us.  i was astounded by her amazingly good looks.  the 
conversation between her and carson was a bit less than interesting, but hey,
i was seeing this all live on television.  it had to be cool, so i kept telling
myself that.  "enjoy the moment, bill, it's probably the only time it'll 
happen."  with minimal debate, i think i convinced me, and all went smoothly. 

at the first commercial break, jewel felt the need to lean forward for a bit,
and boy oh boy, i could see more of jewel than i thought was polite, so i made
hasty conversation with tess to avoid looking where i think i shouldn't.  i 
mean, jewel's a cool gal, pretty and fun to look at, which i wanted to do, 
because i didn't think that i'd be in this situation again anytime soon, but 
where was i supposed to look, eh?  she was showing more cleavage than i saw 
breast feeding as a baby, it seemed.  the producers thought so, too, so they 
jumped in and saved the day with some tape and hopefully warm hands (man, i
gotta get that guys'job).  with a newly taped up shirt, it was easier to
look at
the girl without letting my eyes wander to where they shouldn't, making for a 
more comfortable experience on my part (which i'm sure was important to carson,
jewel, and the mtv staff).

the questions, rehearsed ad nauseum, came and went, with thoughtful and even
interesting replies.  then came the song performance.  cool stuff.  jealous of
those on the other side of the studio who were directly in front (ali is a 
lucky lucky girl).  aaahhh, to be sprayed with the saliva of a diva (did i say
that?!  i don't remember me saying that...) such as the lovely jewel.  mmmmmm.

afterwards was the obviously uncomfortable event outside.  jeez, i was even 
embarrassed for the girl.  although, she could have said something besides "i
feel retarded."  i'm suprised the pc police of this list haven't ripped that
sucker apart already.  hhmmmmm, getting lax in your old age are you?  ;)  
anyway, it was good to see that segment come to an end as quickly as possible.

with the show over, jewel came back inside to perform "down so long."  as alan
has mentioned, she did one test take on it, for sound levels, and one regular
take for taping.  she's quite the comedian, as she satired herself for a few
lines of the rehearsal take.  with the songs finished, she departed
quickly, but
not without being considerate enough to sign adrian's books (won't say who 
they're for in case they're reading!).  what a gal.  sad to see her go.  but i
had a whole bunch of hours left with the eda's to enjoy, so i didn't let it 
get me down at all (as opposed to "so long").

most of us hit a restaurant where the devices of evil (tv's) and lack of sleep
kept the conversation to a sad minimum.  ted got smashed on one non-alcoholic
drink and ended up face down on the floor (AA meets at least twice a week, ted,
i'm sure you can find time in your busy schedule).  he, tess, cheri, the
oriental boy (he said it's okay), and i departed to catch the 8:09 to westport
soon after dinner was complete.  took longer than i thought it would to drive 
back to worchester (beef jerky is the work of the devil...the sooner we all 
realize this, the better off we'll be).

tessia was kind enough to drive paul and i back to boston, and after teary 
goodbye's, i was in bed by 1:30am.  well, i was, but got back up to see the
television version of the events that had transpired 8 hours earlier.  i taped
the show, and quickly spotted all my friends at various points.  so cool. 
although, i've got to show my parents when i go home this coming week, so
that'll be embarrassing and a half (that didn't make sense).

a great day, i'm sure, was had by all.  got to see many many friends that i 
don't keep in as much contact with as i wish i would.  had a blast in nyc, a 
city that i really didn't like until tuesday.  and i got to be at one of the
more memorable jewel performances.  kudos to alan for accepting the task of 
informing all of us and compiling the responses.  can't thank him enough (i
said that already).  missin' you guys already.  one day teasers are so cruel.
we should all move to tahiti and start our own colony.  we could call it 
kilcherville or something sick and idolitic like that ("idolitry" is my new 
favorite word...supplanting "scooch" which spent a meager three hours at the
top spot).

on the way out of the studio, we all got free copies of "spirit."  although, 
they all had a big chunk cut out of them (some more than others), which marred
the title of the cd on my copy.  listened slightly to it on the way home, but
only after two days of listening at work to it, have i formulated an opinion.

i like it.

although..."deep water" was a shasta-illion times better (couldn't go a whole
email without using "shasta" somewhere) the first time i heard it (jewelstock
tapes).  can't fathom why she changed it.  the production is great, but the 
rearrangement of the previously heard songs is just a downer to me...having
heard them before (hence the term "previously heard").  oh well.  jewel and her
creative mind make the choices, like it or not.  it's certainly not a reason to
abandon liking her stuff as some of you have.  well, that's not true...you like
what you like, and nobody should demand otherwise of you.  

well well well, the time has come to end this inanely long post.  sorry to the 
list police who deem themselves the overseers of what's okay to post and what
opinions should be kept to yourselves.  seems like lately, the posts to the 
list are more about what kind of posts are posted as opposted (oops)...opposed
to the posts that used to be posted reguarding jewel content...the stuff we all
came here in the first place for.  

with that being said, i'd like to say:

**i only like jewel cause she's a hot mf.

**i can't wait for her country album to come out.  i mean, she did say that's 
what she's doing next, right, right?????  and everything she says is true.

**i can't wait to touch her someday.  then i can be as cool as a couple of you!

**we should all be ranked...the coolness of a list member determined by the
date
of subscription to the list.  the coolest being the earlier subscribers...the 
vets...yeah...that would be cool.

This is just a reminder of TV appearances by Jewel this coming weekend. 

As usual, check your local listings for broadcast times in your timezone.

One last thing, I forgot how long the Rolling Stone show on MTV is....I
think it's two hours, but I could be wrong, it was last May when it first
aired.. If you cannot determine that in advance and are taping, I suggest
taping for two hours.

Hi all,

Well, Spirit was released in New Zealand today (Hi Kim!  You get
yours?!?) and I was surprised to find it has a bonus track :WWSYS live.
My first thoughts -
I think that this is a great CD!  I hdn't heard many of the songs before
I got it (actually only 4) so I can't compare between old live versions
and new studio versions.  Anyhow, it's a beautiful CD, very good
indeed!  My Fav's so far : Deep Water, Kiss The Flame, Enter From The
East.

Hey! I just got home from the Jewel at Leno taping. I just have a few words to
say about that....absolutly fab! Our seats were kinda crappy in relation to
Leno....but they were right over Jewel! Prolly the worst seats in the house,
but the best for me cuz the only reason  i went was to see her.:) Anyways, she
sang Hands(which i cried, it was my first time seeing her live, i couldnt help
it), and did a little interview. After the show she signed a couple
autographs. I couldnt get one cuz of where our seats were, but some did.
Lucky! hehe. Anyways, its gonna be a good show tonight so everyone stay tuned.

To all,
After many requests im taping tonites two-hour interview and radio cast of
jewel on loveline on KROQ radio in Los Angeles.  Jewel is answering questions
about her life, her music, and book with adam corolla and dr. drew, as well as
helping answering the loveline calls.  apparently jewel brought her guitar and
plans to do some songs later in the show.  if you would like a recording of
the show i would be happy to trade for some other recording or some other

Hullo Angels,
              I have been thinking about this whole situation that at first
was a small thing, but soon became quite overwhelming and unnecessary.  This
is the way I see it......

           It is only human to look upon certain things and make a criticism
or two.  As is the case with Jewel.  Some people can look upon her as perfect,
but you must realize that this is not so.  No one is perfect.  And there are
people who will point out those imperfections.  This too is human nature.  If
a person does not like the way someone dresses or what they have done to a
song (They being Jewel in this case), they have every right to express that.
I am not saying bash Jewel with all you've got, but if there are those with
critical opinions, don't jump their cases for it....they are merely stating an
opinion that is theirs alone.  And if you disagree that is fine too, but do
not accost a person for expressing their feelings.  
           And for those who are reaching the point of excess with their
criticisms.... ...All I have to say is this:  Look to thine own self and ask
"Would I be able to do better?"  If the answer is yes....then make your way
into the world and strive to do just that....But don't take out your
aggressions on others who may become offended by them.  
		Well....my rambling comes to an end now.  May you all have a wonderful night
with sweet dreams.
