[JuliMatt@aol.com] "Hands" skyrockets on Casey's Top 40! :-) [Mike Connell ] NJC: Atlantic Spew newsletter [fragileangel@juno.com (Mary H Nguyen)] Not another "Hands" post...AND MORE ["Patrick Pilon" Subject: the anwa experience.. a bit of a story before the moral, but bear with me.... elisabeth, my girlfriend, sent me anwa after she had read and fallen in love with it. i read it, and was as touched as ever by jewel's work. a few weeks later as i was preparing to visit her (i go to college about seven hours away... greyhound is not fun) i found the anwa cd in the bookstore. what a surprise this was, as we had been lamenting just a few days before on how silly it was that one hadn't been made that we had seen. ::skipping to the important part:: lying in bed together, a few candles lighting the room, and jewel sharing her words with us as we follow along, often pausing to feel the unavoidable, real presence of her thoughts in that very room. it is an experience that i shan't forget soon. on very few occasions have i been as moved. the turning of the pages, the sound of her voice, the sharing of the experience with the person you love most in the world...... please take the time to experience one more wonder of the inspiration jewel brings to this world. I've uploaded the lyrics to all the songs to my web site, see below for the address. You might wonder how I've got the lyrics, well I bought a pre-release version of Spirit yesterday in London, probably discarded by some ignorant DJ or music journalist. I suppose I'd better tell you want I think, I'll leave a full review to the "experts". My first thoughts are, of course, that it's great! Would I say otherwise :-) Though I was a bit disappointed when I first heard Deep Water as it's not as powerful a vocal performance as some of the live versions that I've heard. All the new songs are really good although Jupiter took some getting used to. I've included the lyrics to Jupiter below and I'll post the lyrics to A Life Uncommon and Do You if nobody has any objections. Although I can't guarantee 100% accuracy as I don't have access to the lyric sheet yes so I'm transcribing straight from the CD. My favourite songs are A Life Uncommon, probably a contender for a hit on the US Contemporary Christian chart, and Absence Of Fear which has a really beautiful piano/string arrangement. As promised the lyrics to Jupiter... Venus De Milo in her half-baked shell Understood the nature of life very well She said "A good love is delicious You can't get enough too soon It makes you so crazy You want to swallow the moon" Oh Oh Oh Oh Jupiter Oh Oh Oh Oh Be still my little heart Oh Oh Oh Oh Love is a flame Neither timid nor tame Take these stars from my crown Let the years fall down Lay me out in firelight Let my skin feel the night Fasten me to your side Say it'll be soon You make me so crazy baby You swallow the moon My hands have toured travellers Across oceans and lands If they are too small On the continent of your skin Wandering, Wandering I could spend my life Travelling the length of your body each night Oh Oh Oh Oh Jupiter Oh Oh Oh Oh Be still my little heart Oh Oh Oh Oh Love is a flame Neither timid nor tame Take these stars from my crown Let the years fall down Lay me out in firelight Let my skin feel the night Fasten me to your side And say it'll be soon You make me so crazy baby We swallow the moon Swallow the moon Oh Oh Oh Oh Jupiter Oh Oh Oh Oh Be still my little heart Oh Oh Oh Oh Love is a flame Neither timid nor tame Take these stars from my crown Let the years fall down Lay me out in firelight Let my skin feel the night Fasten me to your side And say it'll be soon You make me so crazy baby We swallow the moon Swallow the moon Swallow the moon Swallow the moon Chris. Heard it twice tonite within a half hour (Never rains but it pours, eh). Once on Magic 100 (surprise, surprise) and then on KOOL (regular rotation). ********************************************************************** I know this has been mentioned b4, but I feel I must say something. I like hearing about polls and 'popularity contests' on the net where we can vote for Jewel, really. BUT PLEASE, INVITE people to go and vote. Being told "GO AND VOTE FOR JEWEL" is annoying and downright rude. Many people have other interests and may want to vote for someone else (no one comes to my mind, but that's just me). Others are just not interested in voting, period. Like I said, I like hearing about these contests and I doubt anybody is truly annoyed by these posts. But it would be nice if we were asked instead of told. I'm sorry, but the next post I see that's makes me feel I'm being told to go and vote will be deleted so fast, the ball on my mouse may break under such strenuous circumstances. So if you have any feelings towards my mouse... Thanx for your time, Reservoir Angel. P.S. Canada's Capital Angels (or anybody else for that matter), drop me a line.
