Well, sorry to be the ones to break the news, but someone has already beat you to it. Don't feel too bad though, the competition was tough -- artists as beautiful and talented as Jewel are a rare breed you know. That's right, Jewel's new single, "Hands," will feature on Dawson's Creek this Wednesday, November 4th. Same Dawson time. Same Dawson place. Jewel's upcoming album, SPIRT, arrives in stores November 17th. Just thought you would all like to know that .//\//\att //\dler the "Thespian" Angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Oct 1998 23:19:06 -0800 From: dijewe1@juno.com (Diana Ruiz) Subject: Hands ROCKS!!!!!! She's looks all grown up!!! that video and song put together almost made me cry!!!!! It's just soooooo GOOD!!!!!!!!! can't wait till I get to see her on my big screen tv!!!! They should make all her videos and stuff on DVD!!!!! That would be really really cool!!! Anyway, I love the video AND song!!!!!! It ROCKS!!!!!!!!! That video showed very good acting skills that Jewel has!!! She should make a movie like that after "Ride with the devil" I think that's what it's called. I thought she was GREAT!!!!!! she should be in a horror movie like Scream and she's ALWAYS the hero!!! That would be really cool!!!!! That video looked just like a movie!!!! That's my opinion. {\O/} /_\ Diana an EDA FOREVER!! I'm not going to say ALL were that way, since I didn't buy every book :-) However, mine was that way when I got it back in May, and so were everyone's I talked/emailed to. The "uneven cut" look/feel is somewhat common, at least here in the States. I've always supected it's done to give the book a down-to-earth/homey feel to it. It makes it look really rough around the edges. All of Jewel's work should be bound in gold-gilted pages... But the paper does not change the words on the pages. Her poetry would still be beautiful even if she sold it on toilet paper... Maybe we should take it as a statement. Her music speaks of inner beauty, to look beyond the flesh. Is Her book a metaphor for that? But on a different point. I'm sure the paper they used cost much less that golden pages, therefore cutting the price some.( Which makes it a little more accessible to us poor EDAs)..... I dunno, just my look on things... In the Guinness Book of World Records 1999, Jewel holds the record for longest single on the US charts for YWMFM and FG. It was on the charts for 62 weeks, the longest ever! Way to go Jewel! Happy Halloween everyone! Since we met on the list, I thought it might be of interest to all of you. Tom & I originally met at JewelStock, when I ran up to him yelling "Elmo ! I love Elmo!" and he gave a me a weird look. We met up again at other events, including the Party Van to LizStock. However, we didn't become interested in each other until June 1997, at ChelsStock. So, we've been together now for almost a year and a half. Last night we went to a Moxy Fruvous show in Northampton. When Moxy came out, they began telling a story about BJ (a lonely character in one of their songs) and his quest for his long lost love, Rachel. By the end of the first act, BJ was on the moon, happy with a Russian dog and no longer looking for Rachel. About 1/2way into their second set, they started saying things like "We didn't tell the whole story. Don't you want to know what happened with Rachel?" They asked if there were any Rachel's in the audience, then if there were any in the balcony. They brought us up on stage and asked if we had boyfriends. The other girl said no, and I said yes. They asked what his name was, then brought him up on stage. They then told me they knew I had a boyfriend named Tom and that he asked them to ask me something. Then Tom got down on his knee, and pulled out a ring box, and the band sang "Will you marry me?" and put a microphone in my face :). I said "yeah" (very eloquent). They then asked us to stay on stage, and they sang our song (which is a rare song they almost never play in public). They congratulated us and we left the stage. It was a beautiful night, and a gorgeous ring :). Turns out Tom had been talking with the band and planning it all out since July ! My family, his family, a lot of people at the concert-everyone knew, and they still managed to keep it a secret. So, I'm not sure if we're the first EDA couple that met through the list to get engaged, but we must be close :). I thought everyone should know ! Now I live in Australia and I distinctly remember the prodigy making at debut at 3. Seriously, on rick dees rarely have a heard of debuts yup!!! I'm constantly studying various world charts and that's something I noticed a long time ago... any song that is released at roughly the same time around the world always takes a few weeks longer to hit the US charts... I think it's got something to do with the fact that US charts are based on sales *and* airplay whereas all other charts (as far as I'm aware) are based solely on sales... because of this, on the US charts you often have two sides of one single at different positions on the chart whereas everywhere else they chart as one... :-) Kim Lees Your New Zealand Angel Standing By check out Kim's JEWEL Shrine... http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stadium/7485/jewel.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ **** ICQ# 9270797 - please feel free to add me to your list... **** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "In the end only kindness matters..." A lot of people replied to my message about the pages of Jewel's book many saying 'It's not what it looks like, but what's inside', and I agree. I must admit I selected the wrong word (horrid). Before I found out the pages were meant to be like that I thought my book was ruined and it made me angry. Now that I know it's meant to be like that I've accpeted it and I understand why they're like that and they does make it that even more special. I love the poems, my favs being 'Lost', 'The Things You Fear' and 'Miracle'. Lets hope that there will be poems printed on the CD sleeve for Spirit just like POY.
