What is up with this? Her poetry doesn't remind me of anything he has ever written, Bukowski is one of my favorite writers and I don't see why either of them would even be put in the same category. Jewel's poetry, smells like tuna to me, that tuna that's been in the fridge for too long, if you don't get what I'm saying....SHE'S OLD, she needs to sniff the air and realize what reality is before it's too late, if it's not already, this is MY opinion. I haven't heard this new song of Jewel's yet but NO ONE should blame the producer, Jewel was probably just trying to grab critics with this little ditty and went too far. Ciao. My Opinions, strictly, flame if you wish, I take them with a grain of salt. (although i was there during the summer and she was there in the winter.) interlochen is about 15 minutes away from traverse city, michigan and it is pretty much in the woods. people can study music, visual arts, dance, and drama. during the year i believe that they might have sciene and creative writing programs too. people from all over the world attend interlochen and it maintains a wonderful reputation. interlochen in *very* expensive, but there are many programs that give out scholarships for students who have strong talents and interests in music. if anyone has anymore questions, feel free to e-mail me. i don't know much about the time that jewel was there, but i do know a lot about the school itself. katie ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 18:55:04 -0400 From: joe Subject: Detroit/Michigan EDA's Hello... I have a quick question for any Detroit/Pontiac area EDAs (or anybody for that matter). 7th House in Pontiac is hosting the Frasier Fair on Nov. 4th, where Steve Poltz is scheduled to perform. 7th House is a 18 and over facility. So....For those of you that have visited 7th House, do they card you, and if I were to purchase tickets, would they turn me away if I'm not 18? The lady at the box office, says most of the clubs around here never card, but......does anybody know for sure? Lemme know privately... I hope you don't mind me sending this. It was posted on my Tonic list, and I felt that the EDA's should see it. Think of it this way, imagine if it was Jewel that the record label was doing this to. Wes - ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 9 Oct 1998 13:54:12 -0700 From: Richard Breakfree Anderson Reply-To: The TONIC Internet Gang! To: LEMON-PARADE@ROCKPAGES.DYN.ML.ORG Subject: artistic integrity ? a call for support hey all i urge you to please check out the following message from a friend of mine.....to say the least i am appauled that a record company would try to put restrictions on something that someone feels so passionate about...if it were Tonic they would get their arses kicked....please lets get behind this You know how we always b---h about music companies' trying to f--k over artistic integrity? Well Sophie B Hawkins is in that pit. Recently, in the alt.music.sophie-hawkins NG, Ms Hawkins herself posted a message asking us for our help to fight Sony Music. Her message ran: "Hey everybody out there this is Sophie B. Hawkins, I need your help in getting my record out, it's been done for a year and we are in a stalemate over the banjo, which is the instrument on which I wrote my song "Lose your way". Any way, please call the Sony guys at the general number in New York 212 833 8000. Unfortunately, the guys you'll be talking to aren't in control, but they can hopefully get the message to the big guys. Thank you so much, your faithfull songwriter, Sophie B." She is asking us to protest Sony's move to try and screw her creative integrity - simple fact is they want her to replace the banjo with guitars, which they see as being more commercial. The fact that the new album "Timbre" is being held back over something so stupid, amazes and angers me. Just get everyone you know to send an e-mail to sophiebhawkins@flagg.net telling Sony to keep the Banjo. Bottom line, the issue is artistic integrity and freedom. Sophie is collecting the e-mails herself to personally deliver them to Sony headquarters, and dump a sack of them of the desk of the powersuits. Isn't that cool? The Website info can be found at http://www.thecreamwillrise.com/ and there are some personal messages from her! signed Mike Travis Sony seems to have a habit of screwing over their artists...its a time that some good folk tell them that it is NOT on many thanks for taking the time to read this message and also for the support in advance cheers from New Zealand Richard Anderson === Richard "Breakfree" "The Rock n Roll Prostitute" Anderson http://www.angelfire.com/ri/queenfan/ http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stage/6492/ check out "ROCK PATROL"....COMING SOON !!! http://come.to/rock.patrol <------if u luv 2 rock chekkit out _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? A year ago this month this list went moderated (all posts screened) for MANY reasons. It was justified...believe me. Also, over the last year, Jewel hasn't been doing much...so, because of those two occurances, the list volume dropped quite significantly. Not too long ago, this list was getting 300 posts a day. Think about that! Most of the time it was averaging 125 or so, but at times those peak weeks hit 300 a day. It's now averageng maybe 40 a day. However, lately, with the release of Hands and the impending release of Spirit, the volume has been increasing. Along with that has been MANY NJC emails (No Jewel Content) that I didn't let through, and many "Hands" related posts that didn't go through because of various and solid reasons, including a request indirectly from the Jewel management team.  : \    / :                    -- o -- :                      /    \ :                             .---.           .---. :                           /      \  @    /      \ :                         / / /     \(   ) /    \ \  \ :                       //////  /    '     `       --\\\\ :                     / /   /  / :         :   --\  \  \ \ :                    //  / /   /   /`     \     --\\ \   \\ :                  / /   /  /  / /  . .  . \ \  \    \   \ \                     We are everyday angels. :) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 00:23:25 EDT From: GolfPnkGir@aol.com Subject: Now that this is unmoderated, I'm having a free-for-all God Mike.... you just push and push and push until I break!
