Hi, Eponine yes...I think she has the look and the range for the part. As for Ellen I'm not so sure. She's a bit young for the part and the part wouldn't really highlight the full extent of her range. But either way it would be great to see Jewel on Broadway. - -JD ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 23:26:40 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: MrBB-I'm back/ A few new Jewel songs/LRT 34 Hi all, Back from my vacation & a brief stint on the LRT Tour featuring Joy Eden Harrison & Lisa Sanders. What an amazing time we had on Cape Cod. I'm outta the water now but I'll still be floating for weeks! Almost 120 friends, EDAs & family attended. It was wonderful spending time with so many of you. Big thanks to all you weary long distance travelers! What a lucky guy I am! Amyjo, Joy, Lisa, Duff & Liz as my roomates all weekend. Does it get any better than that?!! The Cape Cod LRT was like Summer Camp for ages 5 to 75 (but with no pesky counselors tellin you what to do, yeeha!...) I can't begin to tell you how great the performances were. We had many surprise performers & I think everyone discovered something new to love. ( Hi Liz! ;-) I sure look forward to reading others perceptions of these unbelievably great LRT gigs. I know Joy & Lisa are stealing the hearts of all EDAs along the way. If you attended any LRT shows (or are about to) tell us what you thought about it. I'm very interested! OK, onto Jewel content-- I recieved a few questions tonight regarding the new Jewel song shown on that 17 Mag special & someone forwarded me another "new song" related question posted during my absence. So here's those answers: In a message dated 8/30/98 9:17:48 PM, Jennifer Anderson wrote: >....."winter song"..... i was re-watching that rolling stone special last night, and >i REALLY love that song. since it's sort of "winter inspired," think it >might be on the new album?? Many of you will be happy to know that, YES, this is definately on the new album. However, it has undergone a title change & I'm fairly certain it is now officially titled "The More I Live". Speculation on my part, but this studio version could be a likely choice for initial radio airplay & single. I also already recieved several questions about "Kiss The Flame" which was partially shown on tonights 17 Magazine Special. Yes this too will likely be on the album & is quite the beautiful new song. A few also asked me if Jewel has ever performed "Kiss The Flame" live. Jewel has only performed this song live twice. (For you hardcore tapers, it was last October 26th at Muffathalle in Munich, Germany & once again on November 9th at The Paradiso in Amsterdam, Netherlands during her last European Tour.) Basically, I'm just saying hi tonight & I'll fill you in on more soon. Hope all has been well the past few weeks. Well, it's been absolutely forever since I've posted here, but I decided it was important to post about how absolutely wonderful the whole LRT experience is. There's just no comparison between a show at a club or other venue to having it at a person's home - the intimacy of these shows cannot be matched. Lisa and Joy were absolutely amazing. Joy even brought me to tears with her song '40 Days and 40 Nights" and Lisa with her 'Pride and Joy'. I didn't spend too much time talking to Joy, but did get to talk to Lisa some, and I must say, she is so open and friendly - and she always seems to have a smile on her face and a kind word on her lips. I was thrilled to see Cindy Lee at Alan's, and always amazed that she remembers me from my LRT with her and Elizabeth. I'm just sick that I wasn't able to have one myself this time around..... Between the artists and all the EDA's, the experience is one I wouldn't trade for anything, and if there is any way for you to make an LRT, do it, do it, do it. You're only cheating yourself if you don't make it a point to get your butt to one of these shows :-) The only bad thing I can say about them is that they're addicting and you may find yourself shirking responsibility to attend more of them :-) Love and Kisses to all :-) Tammy :-) PS - for all you NY/NJ area EDA's - Cindy Lee Berryhill is playing the Mercury Lounge this Saturday. Don't miss it or kick yourself later :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 17:52:15 -0300 (ADT) From: Jesse A McDonald Subject: Re: Innocence Maintained > > That's really puzzling, especially since Innocence Maintained is > >so... well, it's not exactly easy listening... it's airwaves friendly, > >but I'd be surprised to hear a retail store playing something so > >opinionated and easily taken the wrong way... Well something doesn't have to be rare or unreleased to avoid play on MTV, Much or commercial radio stations. Those media represent maybe five percent of North America's music output. There are independant labels, do-for-selfers, and just plain less-than-top40 material records floating around everywhere. someone with even one eye half on the underground is likely to dig up DOZENS of artists that no-one on the pop circuit will have heard of. | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 17:58:24 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: MrBB-To L.A. & San Francisco EDAs Only Hi if you live in Los Angeles or San Francisco, An opportunity is presenting itself & I thought this may be of interest to a few of you in these areas. Andres Condon's longtime partner from Chile' is making a rare trip to the United States for some record company meetings & Andres is interested in doing a "Living Room Show" in each town while he has the opportunity to do it with great musicians. For those still unfamiliar with Andres, he's an amazing guitarist/composer from Chile. He has a large Ensemble called Copihue that featured Jewel's mom, Lenedra on lead vocals. He also plays regularly with smaller ensembles & duos. His music features many fascinating instruments & sounds. These particular shows would be trio shows with Andres accompaniest Debbie on flute & french horn & his partner Subhira on piano. If you have any interest in hosting a show & are capable of getting 20 to 25 people together, contact me asap. Here's the time frames when they can do it: Los Angeles-between September 24->October 3 San Francisco-between October 6-> October 11 I highly recommend two of you sieze this wonderful opportunity to throw an LRT show & expand your musical horizons with Andres. He must be seen live to be appreciated. If you are interested in hosting one of these shows & (very importantly) know you can draw the audience in San Francisco or Los Angeles, please reply asap. While we where eating I heard what I thought was Jewel !!!! The song did not sound familiar and I knew it was definitely Jewel. The song was HAVE A LITTLE FAITH IN ME. (Which I found out later ,IT DROVE ME CRAZY!!!
