Well, I'm sorry but I didn't read any of my digests while I was gone, so what happened with Sarah Elizabeth's book? I sent my pix, did everyone else? I hope so!!! OK, on a last note that has nothing to do with anything, Sheila and I have an online club/ zine, called the sugar high club, and it's really cool, so if any teens on the list wanna join, just e-mail Sugar_High_Club@Yahoo.com and it will automatically subscribe you and send you some info on the club. I have most of her albums, but i'm in search of her more hard to find recordings(audio or video). I found a great site for Ani/Sarah/Tori/Bjork/Radiohead Trades, but problem is: I have nothing from these artists to trade! So, I'm asking you guys for help. If you have any recordings by any of these artists I would gladly trade you guys some of my Jewel stuff. OR...it would be a lot easier to cut out all the middlemen. So, if any of you have some rare Ani goodies, then e- mail me. And, hopefully, we can make a direct trade! Thanx alot guys!!! O:) I just got back from Virginia Beach and there was this shop down there w/ some Jewel posters and postcards. There wasn't much left but I got it all. So, I have 3 posters and 5 postcards. The poster is a really BEAUTIFUL closeup of Jewel from the American Music Awards. I don't know what the postcard is from but its also very nice and she's playing guitar (of course ;) ). So, w/ shipping and handling, you'd need to send me $15 for the poster and the postcards are $1. There weren't too many of us that made it but it was great anyway. After we all met at the Westroads we decided to head over to the concert early. Fortunately when we got there Steve was outside doing an interview. Since we were the only ones there yet we all went over and watched the interview. After it was over Steve came over and talked to us for awhile and played a few songs. It was kewl :) We went in early and sat in the front row right under the stage. I wasn't too impressed with Rufus Wainrights set but Steve put on a great show. He was so funny! I think everyone in the crowd was impressed. He got a standing ovation and I saw a lot of people go over after his set and bye his cd. Lisa Loeb put on a good set too. That dancing guy from Kansas was hilarious! After the concert we met Steve again and took some more pictures and talked. ( I can't wait to get those pictures Chris! :) Bye the way, I still have that water bottle ;) I can't wait for Steve to come back to Omaha. I hope more of you can make it next time. You won't regret it at all. The lyrics are: He says "Hold my calls from behind those cold brick walls" Says "Come here, boy, there ain't nothin' for free" The original lyrics were part of the song but Jewel changed them, not editing the lyrics she presented to Atlantic Records. Jewel performs both variations of the lyrics when singing the song live. - -- Marky Mark ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Aug 1998 18:36:43 -0700 (PDT) From: Raymond Wong Subject: I can copy video, but I don't have much... Hi Angels, I just realized I might be able to help propagate copies of Jewel on video... I have 4 VCRs, so I can copy videotapes pretty easily. (1 SVHS and 3 VHS decks) I can copy from either VHS or SVHS (working on getting Hi8) to VHS, so if anyone would be willing to send me tapes, I can pretty easily copy them and mail them back out... Some advice about taping to be able to copy, whether you're doing it for me or anyone else: 1) SP mode only! (2hr mode) Slower recording speeds may look okay when viewing, but copies look abysmal. 2) Unless the channel you're taping from requires a descrambler, you'll get much better video quality using the cable directly into the VCR's tuner. DSS really does look better than digital cable, for those wondering :) 3) Always leave some extra lead and tail time around the recording if you can... Starting the recording right as the program starts makes it a lot harder to "sync" the copy recording. 4) When you first use a new blank tape, it's best to fast forward it to the end and then rewind to the beginning. This helps distribute the lubricants that are placed in the tape and also helps loosen up any spots that may have gotten a little stuck in shipping/storage before you bought the tape. 5) As in audio, brand name tapes tend to be much more consistent than cheaper ones. They also tend to last longer, though some of the tapes that mention "master" quality are designed to give a great recording but not last as long. My personal favorite brand is Fuji, but they're harder to find cheaply... I've had good luck with both TDK and Maxell, but I've heard of friends having problems with TDK. I'm no professional, but I've taped a lot of non-Jewel stuff from TV. I offer this advice to help those who aren't used to taping. Good Luck, and of course, remember that a poor tape is still better than NO tape. I'm kinda a newbie, and I am soon going to get a taste of Angel Food. I just think that EDA's are some of the greatist people in the world!! James thank you so much for this opportunity, and thank you for all your hard work and dedication, I think your dedication and kindness are not only appreciated by other EDA's, but Jewel as well, must think it's great. It's what she said she wanted, and has incouraged, and you James Judd, along with your volunteers, who are just as worthy of gratitude, have made possible. I would also like to tell you that I'm sure your services are not taken for granted!! I think the most amazing part about this whole concept is that you ask no fee, I admire your generosity, and that of those working to make this possible. Thank you all so much, especially James Judd whose idea has brought pleasure to the ears of so many Jewel fans. In spite of all this, I don't think my words really expressed how grateful I am to be a part of this, or how wonderful EDA'a are, but I don't think I'ill ever be able to, the project is so humble and giving that my words may never do it justice. The whole fan club is beyond belief amazing, I love you all! :-) thank you again, Corina Froelicher "People should stop taking about how much they love their families, how much they God, and do something!" I think I may have misquoted Jewel there, I'm not sure if families or God is first, but this is one of my favorite Jewel quotes! I think I also added the exclamation point. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #432 ***************************
