I have an idea for a gathering in the Detroit area so anyone in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, etc. who is interested please read on. The Detroit Institute of Arts is going to have an exhibition coming up called The Invisible Made Visible Angels From The Vatican. The description is as follows: This summer and fall you can view a remarkable assemblage of angels in art, more than 100 rare objects form the collections of the Vatican Museums. These paintings, sculptures, tapestries and liturgical vestments and jeweled vessels, which date from the ninth century B.C. to this century, have never before been seen together outside the Vatican. The exhibition features works by such artists as Fra Angelico, Raphael, Veronese and Salvador Dali. What I'm proposing is that we set a date and meet to take a tour of the museum's exhibition. I need to know first if anyone out there is interested in doing this and second what times you would be available to go there. If there are enough of us we might be able to get a group discount. The exhibition runs from August 23 to October 18, however I'm going to assume people would want to do this before school starts again. For me, this is Sept. 8. If your interested please email me privately. I will provide you with information when I know a little more. Hey, I was wondering if anyone on the list likes Merril Bainbridge, 'cause she was my favorite singer before Jewel but I never got a chance to buy her album. That's not why I'm writing though, I'm writing because I've seen her album and the first song on there is called "Under The Water" and I was thinking it could be the same as Jewel's. It doesn't say who wrote it, I only looked on the cover. I don't want to buy it 'cause I'm not that big of a fan anymore but if some is, and has it, PLEASE let me know ASAP!!!! Well, Merill's album, the one with "Mouth" on it, is a couple years old, right? And the Jewel song you're talking about isn't even on POY, so the chances that Merril heard Jewel in concert to pick up the song, and got it learned and recorded all in time to do her last album are kind of slim. I'd love to hear the song, just for curiousities sake. You'd be surprised how many songs out there have similar or identical names. There's a lyrics server on the net, which carries the lyrics to almost 100,000 songs, and you can searh titles and album names, and artist names and stuff. I searched for the title "Angel", as in Sarah McLachlan, and you wouldn't BELIEVE the number of titles that came up!!! Just interesting, I thought... alana. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Aug 1998 10:49:55 -0700 From: moonsong@ix.netcom.com (Us) Subject: SJC: my pAge.... Hey there angels!!!! We should make a list of links to pages made by EDAs. It wouldn't be a bunch of Jewel links, it would be just personal home pages. I personally love seeing webpages about other EDAs, I think you can learn a lot about other people that way. So, basically, I'm asking all of you with a page about yourself to mail me the address, I'll compile a list, and put it on my site. If anybody else would like to, they could put the list on their site as well, and if the list is posted on several sites, everybody will get more hits, and it would be a great way for EDA's to surf around get to know each other on a more personal level.
