Just thought I'd share a funny little spoof about Jewel that I found while rummaging through some MAD magazines. There's an article about Seinfeld spin-offs, and one of them is called "Elaine". And guess who plays Elaine? That's right, our favourite singing angel. It was odd that I flipped the captions on at just the right time but it was right after the commercials following the part where Oprah mentioned that Jewel has never taken drugs or alcohol. What was actually said was not at all what was put on the captions. Oprah was talking about the clip of Jewel on MTV Unplugged and she said that that was the "Jewel Unplugged special". BUT on the captions it had her saying that that was the "Jewel on drugs special"!!!!!!! I thought that was a little ironic considering she'd just said Jewel never took drugs. How could the caption people get that so wrong!!!!! All the people who NEED the captions and can't hear what really is being said are going to be given the wrong idea! These were recorded on May 19th while she was at the MTV studios in NYC during the ANWA book release week. From what I was told, these will be broadcast 10 nights in a row, beginning tonight at Midnight EST. A different poetry segment will air each of the 10 nights. If you have a VCR, my advice is to program it on the "everyday" or "Sunday-Saturday" setting from 11:55PM->12:05AM EST. This should allow you to get all segments with a minimum of hassle.
