There are people that want the fanclub/ID cards and people who don't. So I've decided to organize a poll to see how many people like the ideas or not. So send me an e-mail with *VOTE* fan club/IDs as the subject in the body of the letter, write this: 1.fan club- (type yes or no) 2.IDs- (type yes or no) Thank you! This poll may not change anything (although it could) but like I said before, I'm just interested. :D ~natalie~ *Starry*Angel* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 12:43:20 -0500 From: Natalie Subject: NJC: PattiGriffin and StevePoltz Can someone please e-mail me and tell me some of Patti and Steves websites? Unfortunately, Patty Griffin canceled at the last minute which really ticked me off but Steve Poltz more than made up for that. I parked myself in front of the stage an hour before he was set to go on so I could be right up close and of course get a glimpse of him before he went on. After an amazing set during which one lucky girl got to go sing "Impala" with him, I ran back stage where I got to meet him and hug him and he even kised me on the cheek! he was so friendly, even to obnoxious me, who was hyperventelating the entire time. If any other EDA's were there write me and tell me what you thought about it. Now, Scott was very dilligent in planning the Siz Flags GTG, but it is like I told him... he picked a very off center location and in a HUGE state! He also picked a summer month, which in such a large state has many of us stranded out in the middle of no where, like EL PASO! Austin is a wonderful city with TONS to do AND most importantly, it is centrally located. It is also where two Harris's will be located come September! What more could an EDA gathering need?! (well, maybe a few more Harris's, but who's gonna be picky?) ;c) SO I guess it would be prime time for Scott (I am assuming he wants to help!) and myself, and anyone else who wants to help out to start gathering email addresses so that at a little later date, we can begin to coordinate some real plans here! ANYONE (anyone who would be interested in comming from anywhere!) interested please email ME (NOT THE LIST!) with the subject "TX EDA" and I will be sure to add you to my list of interested angels! Come on y'all (ack! I think that is the first time Ive ever said that!) everything is bigger in Texas... let's show those east and west coasters what we got! *hugs* from the live music capitol of the world! Ok, I called this place in Sacramento and asked if they had any Jewel posters and they said yes, they had one called "head shot" (real original) and "YWMFM"......now what I'm wondering is, is the YWMFM poster probably the same one where she's walking down the cobblestone street holding Big Blue? and is the head shot one the same poster of her at the AMA. I was thinking that they are, so if anyone has seen the ones I'm talking about and recognizes them by the two titles, can you let me know? Any help would be appreciated. peace, love and sleep, Aurora ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 18:32:18 -0400 From: "J.J. I'm hoping that it still has a chance to make her next album, but if not, I guess Rare Angels is my only chance to hear the song. Does anyone have another recording of it they would be willing to trade? J.J. Cooper Jewel said: >Answer from Jewel: >Lots of people probably have all these songs on Jewelstock >and other tapes. I guess I'm that kind of person but I thought I'd say something so here goes. I dont really see the big deal in the Official Fan Club I mean aren't we some what of a fan club I've never in my life joined a fan club I just think its a waste of money. Sure you can get a neat newsletter and ID Card, which i think is a good idea whether or not this fan club thing works out. Oh and BTW can someone please tell me what you would do with a Jewel patch or sticker? Really I already have Jewel stickers from her Poetry book and I mean think about it the Spice Girls have stickers I've seen them but i have nothing aganist them. I know other more heavy metal bands have stickers but Jewel just doesnt seem like a sticker you would stick on a skateboard or something. Ok I'm dwelling too much on the stickers. I think instead of a newsletter(if we are going do the FC thing) that it should be a booklet like a program u can get at a baseball game or something of the sort. Where Jewel would actually take part in some or most of it. Ok this is becoming too long but in the booklet it would have(for instance): Jewel answers a few lucky fans questions(like what is happing right now on the list) maybe a little info on what she is doing Funny cute facts about her(like the pudding thing) and more... Well thats just my 2 cents, Jeanna The*Sensitive*Angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 20:41:27 EDT From: GolfPnkGir@aol.com Subject: Re: Higher Ground for Humanity In a message dated 98-07-13 20:29:22 EDT, you write: << Here's a thought - why don't the EDA's get involved with Higher Ground for Humanity? Jewel has given so much to us, this is an ideal chance to reciprocate in a small fashion, as well as doing something beneficial for society. I don't really know how the organization is set up so I can't offer any workable suggestions as to how we can become involved. Perhaps community organizing, or (if logistically possible) our volunteer services in administrative/clerical functions to reduce the need to hire staff and reduce operating expenses (allowing funds to be diverted to the actual causes). Just thought I'd run it up the flagpole and see who salutes. >> I like that idea! Another thought: If we do decide to run a Jewel Fan Club for a certian amount of money, a good portion of the proceeds should probably go to certian charities....charge enough to cover expenses and make a little profit, then donate the rest. :) Isn't that what EDA's are about? ~Emily, the Sunrise Angel~ *I'd rather see the world from another angle* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 21:29:53 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: Common Ground Foundation/Fan Clubs Many people are generously offering to get involved in Jewel & Lenedra's foundation & are asking "What to do?". I think there's some misinformation circulating & this may help those wondering about it. First of all, its called Common Ground, not "Higher Ground" (although I like that Stevie Wonder tune!). This is a common mistake in the press. At present, Common Ground has no interest in "collecting donations" & is more for Jewel to donate money to projects that she supports, but primarily to raise awareness of these projects & causes, a major one being "Community Volunteerism". So if you are serious about getting involved, get involved in your own community. Theres even a group that splintered off this list called EDAFoundation thats dedicated to helping you do this alone or in groups with other EDAs. Go to this address & find out more if you really want to be involved: http://www.theartof.com/edaf OK, now onto this fanclub thing. As I wrote to the EDA that asked me about doing a newsletter, "Great, sure. Go for it." Fan clubs & newsletters start everyday. The only ingredients needed is fans & volunteer workers. Anyone who's motivated to work on it for the sheer enjoyment of working on it, should do so. Fan club administration is rarely a money making scene. It's usually, at best, a "break-even" setup run by dedicated people. And I totally agree with whoever said that theres no reason to even contact Jewel management about it, until you have a successful concrete thing already happening. One thing I will ask is that whoever is organizing this please post to the list with contact info. I'm getting many asking me about it & I know nothing & have nothing to do with it, other than wishing you all good luck with it, of course. :-) MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 20:45:18 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: Re: Jessica In a message dated 7/13/98 8:34:55 PM, jjcooper@mto.infi.net wrote: >While I understand that, unfortunately not releasing those tapes may mean >that I go to my grave with only one version of Jessica, my favorite Jewel >song.
