I just signed up to be an EDA yesterday, and I just read some mail, and there's stuff about a jewel poetry contest thing? Is this the one on her page? I entered that one but disqualified myself by entering more than one. Well anyways, if this is a different one, I'm obsessed with poetry and would like to anything more about anything having to do with poetry and Jewel. If someone wouldn't mind e-mailing me personally about any contests or events going on with the EDA's, I would really appreciate it. I think she does believe in a "higher power" cuz of songs like Angel Standing By and in her poem God Exists Quietly. Oh, and her family or dad's family (i dunno about her mom) is Mormon cuz she made a funny lil' comment B4 singing "Fish Family" on one of my tapes that she was "Concieved in night of mormon passion" or something like that. I don't 'think' she follows the religion......i just think she's a very Spiritual person...Oh and by the way she has said that her mom, Lenedra, keeps her "spiritually centered"....Just my 2 cents O:) Love Always, *~Kristen~* {{ThE aNgEl StAnDiNg By}} >Hi! Yall love me! Yall really love me! :) But seriously, I really never left the list, just kind, hid from it, I've been getting famous lately with me being the prom queen and me coming up with the idea for Lilith Fair (ok, not really but it's MY delusion), plus getting ready to invade Nashvegas. ANYWAY... Though Mike did a really good job of telling you my story, I will fill you in on a few things... The whole thing actually started during an EDA AOL chat, when we used to do it all the time, Thursday nights.... and it was me and Mac (Slunkers, if yall remember him, he disappeared) used to talk about pudding ALL the time and my dream of swimming is a big pool of pudding. So, one day I decided to ask the list, which at the time was MUCH smaller, if they'd send me boxes of pudding for my dream Pool O' Pudding(tm), and people actually did, Tegan Godwin being the first person, I've receive pudding from. *note* she also came up with "The Great Puddini". I didn't get many boxes, but I was very much appreciated what I had received. So after my stint of receiving pudding, I decided to start giving some away... and I thought who'd be better to give pudding to, than our beloved JEWEL ! and then I guess it escalated... So, on Feb 23rd, 1997, armed with 2 boxes of pudding, I went to see Jewel... there I met the famous or infamous... Dennis Harris... he gave me Jewel's Request magazine, I gave him one of the boxes of pudding, and then he gave me a balloon and 15 cents. (btw, that's how I became a Harris, but that's another thing that will be explained at another date, but not really because it's never really been explained to this date) SOOOO... anyway that night, I didn't get to give Jewel her pudding... however, I did end up giving it to John Castro of the Rugburns... and I gave a brick to Steve, and empty coconut shells to Stinky. Mike said: << (I think she has a box of pudding signed by either Jewel or Patty Griffin, if not both....honest!!! :-) >> No, never had a box of pudding signed for me, but Dennis Harris took his box of pudding and had the Rugburns and myself sign it. *note* John Castro wrote on the box... "Erica rules, John Castro" Then in June of 1997, I went to see Patty Griffin, in a barn! And I there met her and gave her a box of pudding. :) Then in October of 1997, I went to see this HUGE free concert in Boston with Paula Cole, Sarah McLachlan, and Lisa Loeb and others... and there... I gave Lisa Loeb pudding, though it was supposed to be for Paula Cole *7 people AWAY*... oh well, Lisa still ricks ass. :) Then in November of 1997, I went to see Tara Maclean, met and gave her pudding... :) THEN last night, YES, July 11th, 1998... I went to my Lilith Fair, at Hartford, CT and met the wonderful and enchanting, HEATHER NOVA... and gave her pudding... which to her reply was... " I've never gotten pudding before... Thank you." :D ! Thus making the famous "Pudding Club" as follows: John Castro Patty Griffin Lisa Loeb Tara MacLean Heather Nova ONE day, I will give Jewel her pudding! I also aspire to give Paula Cole and Sarah McLachlan pudding too... the music world will never be the same again!!!! <> It's Pistachio.. GREAT stuff... :) <> I've been sporting my Desert Storm camo jacket lately, because I've discovered you can fit more pudding in it! :D ... besides... its the BRIGHT YELLOW HAT yall need to watch for. :D <> It isn't?!?! I call for a motion that the official (Angel)Food of the EveryDay Angels be... PUDDING! Well, haven't I said more than a mouthful... but hopefully yall kinda get the gist of my escapades. I hope yall enjoyed this little flashback of EDA history, because it brought a tear to my eye, and a hunger for pudding, in my stomach, so I'll leave yall to go make some... Look for me at Bearsville! I'll be the one... falling... a lot. :D Still on Lilith Fair overload, Erica... I was at a store and saw a table with all this jewel stuff, and saw this awesome collectible. It's a silver thing, it looks like a rock, and is called Mt.Angel. It said on it Mt. Angel: a little piece of Jewel. Then it had one of three decorations on it:a horse(one that looked like Clearwater), a heart, or a pair of wings. I got all three for $1.99 each, and if anyone wants one that can't find it, let me know, and I'll send one to you! Also, I was running the collection of jewel songs, and I'm just DESPERATE for some more. please help and contribute songs! Thanks! Hey fellow EDA campers, The time is drawing near for Bearsville '98. And, we are very fortunate that over 30 happy EDA campers plan to attend -- give me a DOUBLE WOOHOO!!. But now is the time when everybody starts asking, "What should I bring?" More than anything, bring yourself! We take care of each other, so don't worry! Nobody starves, gets stranded behind, or does without when EDA's are around. However, if you want to be prepared, here are some helpful reminders. First, camping at Steve's lives the theme "What's yours is mine, what's mine is yours," so be willing to share what you got and always try to bring a little extra if you can, but of course, respect the belongings of others (like I need to point that out to EDA's :-). The following list will serve as a MAJOR reminder for all those who might forget the little things to bring. 1. Cash is king -- First, you'll need $5 per night that you plan on staying at Steve's, and you'll probably need to buy some food/drinks/etc. when you get there or, better yet, bring some food and drink with you!!!. Plan on extra $$$ if you plan on any extracurricular activities or shopping in Woodstock. Also, there will probably be a good-bye breakfast at Diner Diner Diner =) 2. Toilet Paper -- There are modern (yet slightly rustic) restroom/shower facilities, but Steve's does not supply toilet paper. It has always been in demand the past few years. 3. Flashlight w/extra batteries -- There are NO lights at Steve's Campground except what you bring, so plan on having something to light your way. 4. Your premade tape for the 2nd annual EDA Share-the-music tape grab bag. Just put on artists that you love, especially up and coming acts. 5. A jug or bottles of water -- Water was another "in-demand" item. 6. Snack food -- Most meals are hot dogs, hamburgers and such, which we can always buy when we get up there. But snack food is something you can buy cheaper at home and bring your favorite. Plus, everyone gets hungry at different times and lots of snack food keeps everyone happy until meal time. 7. Folding chairs -- Or plan on sitting on the ground -- a lot (just FYI, K-mart has the folding camping chairs for $9 this week!! 8. Sleeping bag, blanket, a warm throw, or something, just anything to keep warm. If the past two years tell us anything, it is that the Catskills get down right cold at night, even in July. Plan on weather in the 40-50 degree range at night, I'll try to remember to let you all know the weekend forecast for the area Wednesday sometime. 9. A towel, soap, etc. if you plan on showering. Also, toothpaste and other toiletries you just can't (or don't want to) live without. For the extra prepared: ** A tent would be great, but usually there is extra room with other EDAs. In the past being "tent roomies" has been a great way to get to know other people. ** An air mattress or foam pad -- the ground gets hard after the first night. ** A cooler -- even empty is fine, we'll fill it soon enough. ** Good walking shoes/sandals that you don't care a lot about because they'll probably get ruined. Mine did last year :-/ ** A warm sweater/jacket for around the campfire at night. Other notes: Parking -- There is limited space to park in the campground without blocking someone in or occupying prime camp sites. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think of others before you pull up and block everyone else (EDAs and others) from access to campsites. Late arrivals -- Steve usually puts us all in 2-3 adjoining camp areas. Expect that we'll all be packed together and you may not get the perfect spot under a tree, close to the bubbling brook, with a view of the sunset. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Rob, the kids and I are heading up Thursday morning so don't expect return e-mails after that time. See ya there!!!! Tammy :-) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #375 ***************************
