My question is , is there some kind of inside joke or story about the pudding question? Im asking because it seemed to get alot of votes and I would like to know why. I went to Tel Aviv (I live in Jerusalem) for a week, and made everyone I know listen to my new Jewel tapes (thank you SO much, Mike).>> Seems in really far countries that works ! But Here when I put a tape in my car, friends would to throw it by the window... I think that's because Jewel music, and especially YWMFM (with a country beat) is near to US music... Francois. Just inform them of whet we're doing and most of the time they want some of the publicity themselves. There are also some music magazines we could contact. The list seems endless. I tuned in just in time to hear her rip on Jewel. She included her, along with other artists like fiona and alanis by saying, "i'm tired of all these wafer chicks" and criticized their songs about lonliness, depression, etc.... just thought it was interesting to hear Jewel being criticized in that way. take it easy, chris the L.A.ngel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 11:14:10 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: PC: Re: Pudding (20Q, to some small degree) Today's class: EDA List History 101 Brent Masao Anbe wrote: >I've been meaning to ask the list about this but forgot and since Mr.BB >reposted the questions I remembered. >My question is , is there some kind of inside joke or story about the >pudding question? >Im asking because it seemed to get alot of votes and I would like to know >why. Gosh, where do I start??? :-) OK....the reason it got a lot of votes, in my opinion, is two-fold. (and yes, one reason is kind of an "inside joke") First, to those not in on "the inside joke" part of it, it's an off-beat enough type of question. I do honestly think that if I myself had no clue as to the history of "pudding" on this list, I may have voted for the question, because of its' being off-beat and different, and I feel Jewel would enjoy that part of it. (Jewel HAD to have some sort of positive/laughing/chuckling/puzzled/whatever reaction when she read it. I'm willing to bet she answers that question :-) Secondly, many list "oldtimers" did in fact vote for the question. This is why. (This all happened when the list was one-third as large as it is now, and unmoderated) Maybe "inside joke" is not the best term to describe "Jewel, what is you favorite kind of pudding?", but here's some of the history of it, I'm sure I've forgotten a lot. Erica C. from Connecticut, on the list for about two years, if not more.....well, let's just say she likes pudding. (I think she has a box of pudding signed by either Jewel or Patty Griffin, if not both....honest!!! :-) Many of her AOL screen names are pudding oriented.....even her nickname is "The Great Puddini". She used to be a lot more active on the list, and by golly the list certainly knew about the great puddings in her life. (butterscotch...right Erica??) Let's see....there was the time that she had an on-list campaign ("Pudding For Erica") and many EDAs sent her boxes of pudding. Her goal was to swim in a pool of pudding. As far as I know, the dream has not yet been attained. Just about all of her posts had some PC (Pudding Content), whether it was a post looking for a ride to a Jewel concert or an EDA gathering, or a reply to a question about a Jewel song or whatever....pudding was in there somewhere. If you met her, she was certainly wearing her black trench-coat, and pudding was IN THERE somewhere too!! (In powder-form AND ready-to-eat!! :-) There's more, much more, but that's the gist of it. I know it has to seem rather "odd" to you newer folk, but trust me, you had to be there :-) Mike :-) P.S. Thinking back, I'm kind of surprised pudding wasn't named "the official (Angel)Food of the EveryDay Angels" :-) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 11:21:56 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: Re: Pudding In a message dated 7/11/98 10:40:21 AM, banbe@hawaii.edu wrote: >I've been meaning to ask the list about this but forgot and since Mr.BB >reposted the questions I remembered. >My question is , is there some kind of inside joke or story about the >pudding question?
