So I have decided that I would like to make my own Unofficial Jewel Newsletter. If anybody out there is interested in helping please email me (with "newsletter help" in the subject) and let me know what type of skills that you have that might help me and what part in the project you would like to take. I will also be accepting letters to Jewel, artwork, and poems about or inspired by Jewel (they don't necassarily have to be related to Jewel). Also any pictures would be appreciated. I would also be interested in hearing what types of things you would like to see in the newsletter. Right now I am hoping to put in a letters section, an artwork and poems section, a news/tour section and an EDA's section. In the subject line of submissions please put "newsletter submissions". Note: Yes I mean this to be a print newsletter. i.e. It will go out through the regular mail. - -- - ---------------------------------------------------- Michael Aston Jr. maston@pacifier.com http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/4830 - ---------------------------------------------------- Or reach me by ICQ. This is a repost of the e-mail announcing the release of "Spiderboy" - The Steve Poltz Fan Newsletter in case anyone missed it the first time. This time is that you can now check out a preview of the fanzine on the web to see if you like it. Take a look at it at: http://home1.gte.net/ericj1/rugburns/spiderboy.html I hope you all enjoy it! The repost follows... - -------- Hi everyone! I'm proud to announce the release of "Spiderboy", the Steve Poltz Fan Newsletter. Put together with the consent of Steve and his management, this fanzine is a way for fans to keep in touch with the goings on of Steve Poltz, past and present. In the first issue of "Spiderboy", we have news on Steve, tour dates, a review from a show in Philadelphia, an interview with Steve after a recent show in Belmar, NJ, and an article by Alan Poizner (moderator of the Steve Poltz/Rugburns mailing list) of his adventures as a Rugburnsroadie for a few days in late '96. In future issues, we hope to bring current news on Steve, concert reviews, features on other great San Diego musical talents, and whatever else we can think of. We also welcome fan submissions, and if we use your work, you'll receive a free future issue. We also have a web site, which is a part of Eric Jones' great Steve Poltz site, "Drunk Like Me", which you can find at: http://home1.gte.net/ericj1/rugburns/index.html From the "Drunk Like Me" website, click on the little "Spiderboy" newspaper icon. We have parts of the newsletter available on the web site, but the "Spiderboy" newsletter will be the flagship of the fanzine, with the web site being a companion to us. For information on how to get the first 12-page issue of this quarterly publication, email us at: SpiderboySP@hotmail.com Thank you in advance for trying us out, and take care. Hi everyone! For those who don't know me, my name's Eric Montas, and last year on the list, I was in charge of a project called "The EDA Cover Tape," which was a tape of EDAs covering their favorite Jewel song. Since there's been such a renewed interest in the EDA Cover Tape, I have decided to reopen the tape tree for those who missed it the first time around. I figure this will keep everyone in anticipation of "The EDA Cover Tape 2", which is being put together by Mark Oxman (MAXMOUZE@aol.com), and should be out by the end of this year or early next year. If you are interested in getting a copy of the first EDA Cover Tape, e-mail me. I will then assign you a branch, who will then contact you with information of where to send your tape. Please read the original post below which was sent to the list April '97. It should answer any questions you may have regarding the tape. Take care. 'bye! Subject: EDA Cover Tape Tape Tree Announcement Date: Wed, 02 Apr 1997 00:06:03 -0500 EDA Cover Tape Tape Tree - ------------------------ Hello everyone. This has been a long time in the making, but the tree for the EDA Cover Tape is officially underway! Huzzah! :) Some of you may be wondering, "What's the EDA Cover Tape?" Well, for you late-comers, the EDA Cover Tape is exactly what it is: EDAs doing cover songs. "Cover songs by whom?" you may ask. Well, Jewel. Duh. *bonk* :) Yes, a bunch of us strange EDAs covering Jewel songs. Oh, the horror! But amazingly enough, this tape is sweet. We have so much talent gathered here among us, it's scary. But enough of that. In no particular order, here is who is on the tape, and what songs they're doing (since I know you're interested): Liz Clark The ABCD Song Katie McCurry Let Them In WWSYS Carnivore Jessica Absence of Fear Angela DiIulio Flower I've Got the Blues More Than You Do Blues Been Down So Long Morning Song Greg Yanito I'm Sensitive Eric Montas Carnivore Foolish Games Angel Standing By William Cheng YWMFM Damon Schmidt Sometimes It Be That Way Rebecca A. Smith Near You Always Rafael Galianes Everything Breaks Sometimes Gerrit Kruidhof You're So Small Toni Dunn Old Lover's House YWMFM Kim Littlejohn Angel Needs a Ride Billy Tom Proven Flower Angel Needs a Ride Medley [a medley of Jewel songs] Nice ecletic mix, n'est-ce pas? Better than the 25 WWSYSs and 18 YWMFMs that some people thought we might get. So sign up for this limited edition re-release before it's too late! (I only have so many j-cards left, too :) eric :) - -- Crash Boy's EDA Page --- http://thespis.com/crashboy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #368 ***************************
