I read Jewel's answer to the question (below) and she said her chihuahua, which is totally new to me, did anyone else know about this??? Question: What kinds of things in life "prickle" (such as really touch and talk to you) your soul? Jewel: My Chihuahua, lately. It's what makes people feel beautiful, whatever it is. Like peoples' long blue fake nails, or the lady in the bar who dresses in a cheesy black lace dress, or the comb-overs to make guys feel younger. It's so dear. I think humans are just so dear sometimes. Also concerning the recent debate why guys listen to her music, well I first heard on the radio and she sounded cool. Then I got the cd, and she didn't seem as cool as she did on the radio. Well I listened to her cd while doing my homework (I just graduated high school, YES!!!!!!!!!) and I didn't seem to care for her that much, then for some unknown reason I just fell in love with her music, don't know why, just did. Her beauty is just an added bonus, to I guess in a way, give a beautiful body to her beautiful (for the lack of a better term) voice. Just my three cents (even though two cents is the "correct" term, its getting monotonous, don't ya think???), Moonlight Angel --- ERGambit@aol.com P.S. I thought I read awhile back in the digest that Jewel was going to make an appearance on the David Letterman show June 26. I guess I heard wrong since not a single person mentioned it in the digest. Plus because I totally missed it, but since it didn't happen, I guess I didn't miss it. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Jan 1998 00:48:58 -0800 From: dijewe1@juno.com (Diana Ruiz) Subject: Question about "Water is wild" Hey EDAsters, I was just going to tell you that I seen the video to Water is Wild. You know, that song by the Indigo Girls and Jewel and Sarah? Relax, it's just the lilith fair thing but as a video. Anyway, My question is, If there's a video, there's a single right? I just want to know so that I don't have to bye the whole thing just for one song that Jewel hardly sings on. So please got back to me anybody. The cover art is a colorful original drawing by Jewel. Each page in the journal book is lined on one side to write your poems, stories, thoughts and dreams. The other side of each page is blank for you draw or doodle on. The book is spiral bound and is 8" x 6.5" It was Jewel's idea to create a journal in order to promote and encourage the freedom of expression through writing. Seattle based Running Rhino & Co has been creating eco-friendly, life positive paper products since 1988. All printing is done using vegetable based inks and acid-free recycled papers. As they state in their company philosophy "By creating expressive paper products, we can be a strand in the worldwide web of communication. By creating we are following our dream." 3% from all sales of the journal will go towards Global Humanity and we thank RR&Co for their contribution. To view the cover artwork, go to: http://www.jeweljk.com/ and then click "Jewel Journal" when you get to the homepage. To order the Jewel Journal, same as above & then click the The Jewel Store. I'm Heather (aka Googies) and I'm new to this list. I would have joined a lot sooner, but I didn't have my own personal e-mail account then. I have to admit, you guys are a whole lot more into this than the makers of the Wallflowers newsletters that I'm subscribed to. Now, to get to the point. I wanted to know if you guys are going to continue making the EDA cover tapes because right now, I am just learning how to play the guitar. Singing is one of my most favorite things to do, but so far, the guitar, (I just started last month) isn't quite ready to be heard by other people yet. I was inspired to play guitar by Jewel and a close freind of mine named Victor who used to be in a rock band. It's taken me so long to get a guitar because I'm 15, don't have a job yet and therefore it's taken me forever to save up enough money to get a fine guitar. Anyway, I sing Jewel songs all the time and I would be absolutely crushed if I couldn't submit something to the EDA cover tape. Please come out with another cover tape, EDA cover tape 3, 4, 5........well you get the idea. Thanks everybody for listening to my guitar story. Jewel's participation in the movie is finished & things went extremely well. The film now goes into the editing & production phase with a an expected theatrical release expected in March of 99 & a Cannes Film Festival debut around that time. Everyone involved seems to be very pleased with Jewel's performance & she can now move on to what you've all been VERY patiently waiting for--the new album sessions, which will begin in a few weeks. :-) They still have every intention of having the album out in November to coincide with the holiday season. I'd also like to publicly thank Mike Connell & the 12 member EDA panel for their time & efforts in making the "EDAs Interview Jewel" project run very smoothly on this end. The EDA questions have already been sent on to Jewel & I plan on posting 2 answers per night from the 12th->16th, which is the 5 days leading up to the 2nd Annual Bearsville Reunion Campout that many EDAs will be attending all that weekend. (Go here for more info on that: http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/bv/bv98.htm) This was a project I'd been discussing doing periodically with Lenedra for some time. I thank all the EDAs who sent in questions, voted or participated in any way. I think Jewel will enjoy this & hopefully we'll make this a periodic occurance on the Jewel lists. I think Mike will be posting your voting results of the top 20 questions tonight, so you all can see which questions Jewel will be dealing with. You'll be happy to know that although some are thought provoking, not all the questions are "over-serious". At first, I said "What the *%#@?!" to question #1, but its actually pretty interesting the more I considered it. Anyway, thanks for everybody's participation! :-) Also here's some interesting news about two of my "other pals", that will be of interest to many of you. Joy Eden Harrison has begun working on her new album & has an incredible batch of new songs. I'm extremely excited about this project because Joy has decided to have Cindy Lee Berryhill produce the album. Anyone who knows me well, is well aware that CLB is one of my favorite musicians so I'm real happy to hear of this decision. One of CLB's major strengths is her skills at arranging & I can't wait to hear what she & Joy cook up together on this project. I know this is gonna be a major step forward for Joy & I anxiously await the results! Also, Elizabeth Hummel called this morning and updated me on whats been going on with her. She recently had a great experience playing the local Lilith Fair date & recieved glowing reviews on her performance. Sarah M watched her set & was really taken by Elizabeth's dulcimer tunes. She even invited Elizabeth up on the big stage to join in on an allstar version of Marvin Gaye's "Whats Going On?" (One of my personal favorite songs :-) Elizabeth invites all San Diego area EDAs to join her at Java Joe's for her "Birthday Concert" this Saturday, July 11th at 9:00PM. Give her a birthday hug for me if you go. In March of 1997 I went to see Jewel at the Beacon Theatre, New York City, with my mother, sister, and best friend. it was the best thing i have ever experienced, and i can't wait to attend another concert. I was just wondering, were any of you EDA's there?:) 2. at that particular concert, Steve Poltz's Rugburns opened up for her, and she brought Steve on for a couple songs. that was great! Does he appear at many of her concerts? 3. I am interested in getting Elizabeth Hummel and the Rugburns CD's. Are they both out yet? What are the names of them? Im sorry if some of the questions sounded idiotic, but if anyone could help me out i'd be greatly obliged. peace, Jill "the swing dancin angel" "Life's a journey.....where did i put my damn sneakers?" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Jul 1998 20:21:06 -0700 (PDT) From: Karen Boysen Subject: article on Nedra and Jewel in US Hey everyone, I don't if people know about this or not but I got my new US magazine today and there is an excellent one page article about Nedra Carroll, Jewel's mom.
