Jewel was what I got from them first, but searching through it I found literally hundreds of other tabs that I wanted... that helped me grow from a terribly bad guitarist to a substandard guitarist... and all for free, as a purely educational resource... And now they've been shut down. The Harry Fox Agency (I think that's what they're called) has smacked them up with a lawsuit over copyright issues. I took a gander at your US copyright law, and this case is bullshit. I'd just like to invite anyone who has used OLGA in the past, or feels this is unfair anyway, to skip over to OLGA's ex-site at http://music.lsds.com/guitar/ and sign the petition to have it preserved. I don't know if it'll help, but it's there, by gum! ^_^ | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jun 1998 15:59:34, -0500 From: HCCZ70D@prodigy.com ( SARAH MERRITT) Subject: Is she too darn monotonous? Hello... I've looked at most of the posts on Jewel's reading of her poetry and it seems sort of silly that everyone is obsessing about it. Even the media is, I guess, with all of those articles. I think the reason for that is that Jewel is a musician, so people are expecting her to read her poetry with the same melifluous voice that sings her music. But it's not music..it's poetry. And if any of you have ever heard other books on tape, most are incredibly dull and basically spoken aloud with no feeling at all. As Jewel has said many times, she's never had to read her poetry aloud before, so she's not a pro at this. And as pointed out by a few people on the list, she didn't have much time. I read an article in which she said that she had been paying close attention to her pronunciation so as not to slur her speech like she normally did, so she was probably preoccupied with that. So...let's all move on to a new subject...the questions! That's something really cool to focus your energies on. It makes you proud to be and EDA that Jewel will take the time to answer our questions. I think she'd rather do that than hear people scrutinizing every word of the poetry audio book. Just my thoughts... Bees are buzzing in their honey catacomb All the noise seems to call my head a home Can't escape the scratchin', my blood makes a noise It's hard not to play when there are so many toys So many toys Under the water The total is more than the sum Under the water I hear who I'll become There's a hole inside my head where all the thoughts leak out Sometimes my flesh is filled with forgetfulness and doubt It's easy to feel separate, no control of the rain Innocence ain't lost it just needs to be maintained It needs to be maintained Beside me are strange fish, moody and dark A tapestry of intention that maintains the spark And there's a tiny light, a flicker within Forgiveness is a needle that knows how to mend It knows how to mend Under the water The total is more than the sum Under the water I hear who I'll become (Spoken "Rap") I've decided to hear who we will become Wanna lay down in the water, go back to where I'm from Outer space is just a puzzle of stars Music the mechanics of the human heart A post that stirs, a shadow that casts An insatiable thirst drains a martini glass There's no place sacred, no honest reflection Our senses made senseless by a lack o' direction Monks are great with their fists uncurled But they live in a cave, they know nothin' of the world I wanna live brave, I wanna love without fear But it's hard to navigate when I can't even hear (Do do do do do do do, Do do do do) Bees are buzzin' in their honey catacomb All the noise seems to call my head a home Can't escape the scratchin', my blood makes a noise It's hard not to play when there are so many toys There're so many toys Under the water The total is more than the sum Under the water I hear who I'll become Under the water My flesh is filled with stars Under the water I hear who we really are Under the water I lay my burdens down, down, down Under the water All resistance drowns (Do do do do do do do, Do do do do...) Come on, come down, down, down under go, A-go down on and go down under Go under the water I hear who I'll become Under the water I lay my problems down Under the water All my resistance drowned ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jun 1998 18:58:10 EDT From: HMN333@aol.com Subject: Angelfood Hi all you EDAs, I wonder if any of you remember me. I was on the list almost a year ago and my account was cancelled for awhile. I lost the list of people I had been writing to, so feel free to drop me a line if you remember me!! I was just wondering if anyone wanted to trade some sort of Angelfood with me. All I have is "Jewel Rocks the Paradise" but maybe there's someone who doesn't have it but wants it. Just let me know! Glad to be back on this list. But it isn't Taking the World By a Donkey, and it isn't Morning Wood. And those are the only ones I have heard of. The one I found is called Mommy I'm Sorry. It only has 6 tracks which are : The Fairies Came, Lockjaw, Dick's automotive, This flood, skyfuckingline or Toronto, and Sesame Street. Is this a regular CD. It was put out in 95. Ok, now for the Jewel content. In the Thanks, they thank Jewel but spell her name wrong. They spell it Jewel Kilchur. Alrihgt, let me know, bye. Most have been looking for or selling extra tickets. Jason Gresham had forseen this earlier this year, knowing that many smoe.org lists for the various artists would have similar posts. It seemed these posts needed a home base. Thus was born the Lilith-Fair-Fans@smoe.org list :-) Below is the original post from earlier this spring by Jason. If you are looking for tickets, looking to unload tickets, looking for others to go with and/or discuss any topic about the 1998 Lilith Fair, please join the list per the message below. Mike :-) P.S. Please note that the digest version of this list is set up so that it does not come out very often. They've been averaging about four days to a week between digests, but I feel now that the concerts have started, the list volume may pick up and the digests may come every other day or so.
