Come on. I can't be the only one who is > dismayed by the loss forever apparently, of Fritz Creek Store/The > Bearsville Session/whatever you want to call them>> first of all, yes i think this CD will not be so great, and i wish she would have made it better, secondly, i'd like kick who ever is dissapointed in jewel, Jewel has written so many songs, and has had it easy for us to get some of it (angel food), and lets see, She has done well over a thousand tour dates in less than 2 years, let us legally record them and let us trade them, she has done interviews on TV and for magazines, written us a book, is staring in a movie, and if we collect all her angel food we would have over 250 songs GOD DAMNIT, she has given more to us than anyone else i know in the music world, so GET OFF HER BACK, i though every day angels were supposed to be supportave, understading, and forgiving, but all i hear is ungreatful whinning, i am sending this letter to everyone that said something about being dissaponted, if ducksoup don't let this get bye inspection, so i won't be left unheard. you guys try to say it in nice words, that it will be "dissapointing, and Jewel "dissapointed" you, but in the end, i hear bitching, its not like the world will be eprived of Jewel other songs, make copys of you angel food with your non EDA jewel loving friends you jerky basterds i'm sorry if i piss of the angels who did not complain about jewel and suportid her P.S. angel is a religious thing, and Christianity started of in the latin language, so you "angeles" should be happy The now dissapointed in his fellow EDAs angel "My immortal thoughts turned into just dreams of my dead future" -Green Day ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 May 1998 22:22:26 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: MrBB-Lilith/J's Website Stuff/Lisa Sanders & Mary Dolan/Sean Hooks Hi all, Regardless of what VH1 reported today, Jewel is NOT currently scheduled to do ANY Lilith Fair dates. That is official as of today. If this changes or Jewel decides to do some LF dates outside North America (which is possible) later on this year, that info will be posted both here & on the calendar at Jewel's website. Speaking of the website, BiBi has been busy creating some new features, more of which will be revealed soon. One new thing that's already up is a "rumor/truth" link that will hopefully handle (ridiculous) rumors that seem to pop up more often lately. There's two entries up already (guess which ones ;-) & I'd expect this "Wish You Were Here" song rumor will be the next entry up soon, hehehe. ;-) You'll find this as another link off the FAQ link on the site. For those who still don't know where Jewel's site is, go to: http://www.jeweljk.com/ (It's down at the moment, but should be up again soon) Also, as I said recently, BiBi plans to have audio & video clips of Jewel's upcoming recording sessions on the site for your viewing & listening pleasure. Several great longtime projects & new merchandise will soon be announced (in about a week) as well as prices dropping on the ANWA Book & CD when buying it through the website store. Check it periodically for updated info. A lot of great new stuff is coming! Also, in related San Diego Scene news, Jewel's friend Lisa Sanders debuts her awesome new band tonight at Java Joes. Check out this for a lineup! Vocal & guitar: Lisa Sanders Guitar & vocals: Peggy Watson Violin: Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Dixie Dregs) Bass: John Castro (The Rugburns) Drums: Jeff Darymple (Joy Eden Harrison's Band, S.D. Philharmonic Orch.) If anyone goes to this, please email me privately & let me know how it goes. It sounds like incredible potential to me! Lisa's good friend (& sometimes partner) Mary Dolan is currently on tour around the US & she's in the process of trying to put together a few LRT stops along the way in June. Stick around for info on that. I know most EDAs would really enjoy Mary's music & I recommend her highly. For current info on Mary, go to: http://v-music.com/artists/mary.dolan/mryhm.htm Finally, I'd like to say I'm really enjoying the thoughtful "new album" discussion provoked by Sean Hooks. Several people have written me (privately) who are very upset at Sean & others agree with him & wanted me to know it! Although I often disagree with Sean, he is almost always very thought provoking. I hope he stays on the list forever because he always seems to get intelligent discussion going. That's one of the primary reasons we're all here, isn't it? WISH YOU WERE HERE, ;-) MrBB ************************************ New to the Jewel lists & confused about anything? Redundant is a fine word, don't be ashamed. ^_^ It's not that I begrudge Jewel what is her right to do (that is, if it IS her decision?), I'm just sorely, sorely disappointed to be missing out on this record. I want the cover art and liner notes and guest musicians! And also, if the problem is being forced to perform the same old songs on tour... well shoot, don't you think if she has the leverage to veto the release of an entire ALBUM, she has some control over her concert playlist? It strikes me as bizarre that she won't at least just put it out and be done with it, as opposed to letting it rot... Now that I think of it, though, I'm in a similar boat to the one we're imagining Jewel is in... I started working on an album in 1996... I more or less wrapped it up in early 97... but at the time, I didn't have the means to have it duplicated, so it went on a shelf while I wrote and produced new stuff, broadening my horizons, building my skills... so needless to say, my 1996 record, B.R.E.A.K., is hopelessly out of date to me. So much so that I may just abandon my old dream and not release it, because I've already put out something much better as my first release... and to follow it up with this old stuff would be a terrible anticlimax... but... ... ... well, it would such if that's how it was for Jewel, because damn would I ever like to hear that record. | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 May 1998 00:42:13 -0400 From: Jeff Hamilton Subject: Variety Just in case anyone's forgotten, variety is a GOOD thing. Who wants to hear "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games" a million more times? They're wonderful songs. But saps write and perform the same kind of stuff over and over and over again, while real artists with worthwhile visions aren't afraid to diversify a little. "Pieces Of You" was excellent. I'm sure the next album will be excellent too, especially since she's hinted that it may sound nothing at all like the first. I would expect this to increase people's anticipation of the album, not wonder about whether it will sound just bad or completely terrible. (I'm on a mailing list for fans of Jamiroquai and half of them are doing teh same thing, being not too happy about an album that might not even be available for another year, just because Jay (the lead singer) hinted that the album would be kind of different from the first three albums). P.S. Not to sound rude or anything, but to say that "arias, Latin, and classical are not really generally enjoyed music" is a little bit off-center. Contrary to popular belief, classical music still has a greater grasp on this entire planet than pop music does.
