(I had been listening to "Jewel Unplugged" constantly since I bought it.) Jewel is suddenly sounding very young on many of the songs! (YWMFM is an exception.) I was just wondering if anyone else agrees? I guess that makes sense. Didn't she record "Pieces of You" at the age 19, and Unplugged and VH-1 were sometime later.... Just wanted to share. Show your support for Jewel and go here to cast your vote: http://www.radiofree.com/mus-poll/ballot.shtml The poll really has no point but to see who the majority of the people vote for. The neat thing about this poll is you get five votes and for the overly-obsessive (me, for example) can use all five votes for the same artist, like Jewel maybe? Of course. So go and have fun! I did :) Love, Nancy the angel who breaks everything sometimes and should be asleep because it's nearing 2 in the morning but doesn't want to because it's Spring Break so she's going to make the best of it and veg all night. Hello Everyone Again, I just finished watching Lilith Fair Behind The Music on VH1 (recorded earlier) and noticed something strange. When Jewel is asked about being on the Time Magazine she says that she thinks it's stupid to call her the gang. You know Jewel and the gang. Anyways she goes on to say, "i think it's stupid to call us a gang...Was Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam ever referred to as a gang?" This is where I realized the strange part at. Nirvana, Peral Jam, and Soundgarden were/are all Seattle bands. Does she have any reference to Seattle? I hope she does because I live in Washington state =). Any responses would be appreciated. Since she's into health food and natural healing, hotdogs would be the antitheses of these. Noone really know what's in them. They are the UNhealth food. So, treating someone like a leftover piece of hotdog would be the ultimate insult. Eating a hotdog would mean "I really don't give a crap". I thinks it's clever and quite funny. This makes me think of camels in the Bible. According to what I've been told, the camel was considered a laughable animal. Every time one is mentioned in the Bible it is supposed to evoke a comical image. That is how I think of hotdogs in Jewel's songs. I have two things I would like to share. First of all, I would like to thank all the people that helped me get my angelfood collection started. You are good generous people and I am forever (or at least for a while) greatful. You really showed me that there are truly good people on the list. When I first posted something here, I got a few emails that were a bit unpleasent, and one that was just plain nasty (not to name names or anything). I got an email from Mike, who is the other Israeli EDA I know of, and he told me that almost all the people on the list were very nice, and I will soon find that out, which I did. OK, with that out of the way, I know this might be a bit inappropriate, but I noticed that there were a few Tori Amos fans on the list. My brother is a big Tori fan, but has been out of touch with the Tori mailing list because he's in the army. His birthday is coming up, and I was wondering if any of you have some good Tori stuff (fairly recent, though) to share with me. He has plenty of tradeable Tori stuff (a lot of it very rare). Well, I guess that's all, Sharon (I haven't thought of an angel name yet) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 13:11:00 EDT From: CornflkGl Subject: NJC: Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive Hi everyone ! Thought I'd let you know that the Lyrics Archive now has all the lyrics to all of the songs on the new album ( thanks Jerry ), as well as everything from LWG and lots of unreleased songs. ( like I Write the Book and The Long Ride Home ). There are still songs that aren't up there, though, and this is where I need some help :). I need to find a kind soul or two who will offer to either make me a copy of a newer boot or two, or spend the time transcribing songs I don't have. The only tape I have is from the Eli Whitney Barn, so I know I'm missing things. Any help would be greatly appreciated, so let me know... Anycase, i was just listening to wwsys and busy reading the lyrics out of the cd sleeve and i noticed that they're different to what she sings. i was just wondering if what the lyrics are to the US album version? (i.e. r they the same as the British ones or are they the ones about the hot dog and burger). its right near the beginning of the song. Lyrics inside sleeve - another burger another hotdog , some fries, a wish in the well, hope your teeth dont go to hell, well. Actual Lyrics (british album version) - he says"hold my calls from behind those ???" his boss says "come here boy there aint nothing for free" i know theyre not totally accurate but its just something im curious about. Anycase, thanx for your time coz this post actually ended up longer than i expected. One more thing, if you live in the UK as do i (like you may have already guessed !) then u might understand y i chose my angel name (i live in newcastle), if not then ill explain another day. I've been exposed to much new music Jewel's and others... One thing I've noticed in my quest to enjoy and support musicians I enjoy is that most of the concerts and LRTs take place out West and in the Northeast. I was just wondering if this is just a recent trend or am I forever destined to be listening to radio and strictly local performers here in Florida? Although, it is almost the end of the semester and summer is a good time for travel, hmmmm. About the Jewel, Seattle connection I think she simply grouped those bands together because of a similar sound/genre, not because of their location. take care, Marcia the angel wishing for some fresh musical faces to visit the state that is a peninsula ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 22:12:08 EDT From: Beck82 Subject: Re: Upset angel George wrote: << I am so sad to hear "Dance Mixes" for Foolish Games or of her poetry book, what ever, I am sooooooo sad to see that, Jewel is not like that, at least I hope not, This is not like her, the other day i saw on MTV news that Janet Jakson had like 50 different versions of her newest song, that is a sign of someone who can not right new stuff.
