This could be either because they are simply jealous, they don't really like the work/songs/art/whatever that the person does (hey, there are lots of different opinions of what's good, and variety is good) and they might be sick of hearing/seeing/etc. about that person, or for other reasons. Sure, it doesn't help anything to complain, but we do it anyhow. Anyways, my point is that, we should just ignore the bad things and concentrate on the good things (there are plenty, and alot easier to find than the bad things). And plus, "dorky" isn't necessarily bad. It can mean something similar to "kooky" and stuff like that, and often that is cool. (plus, my mind may be playing tricks on my me (it's kooky like that sometimes :oP ), but I think Jewel might have even refered to herself, or one of her songs, or something like that as being a little "dorky"). Just my thoughts (no offense intended towards the sender). and hey, have a kooky day, everyday!!! "love song number 17...., 19....45..." and that every song is sort of a study in love. which i thought was real true. you listen to songs and so many are about love; studies in love. they all should be bunched together. hehe. that would be awesome. i also just love the song to death; it's perfect. the sarah issue. alright i'm a HUGE sarah and jewel fan. lets say sarah is jealous; which is really against the whole POINT of the lilith fair ; but if she caught the jealousy bug it's rather understandable if you think about it. I know some of you have allready heard this story, but some EDAs havent. I will give a short little version of it so that everyone will know the gist of the story! Jewel was touring with the Rugburns when they went to Mexico City (I think) on a little three day weekend. They decided to try and go whale watching, and ended up riding with some Federales (police if I am correct) who are out looking for drug traffickers. As it turns out they end up right in the middle of a drug bust, I think Jewel says something like 500 kilos of marijuana ( about a thousand pounds). Any way one of the Federales basically tells them its ok to take some weed, which she says they gave away. In the end there is a picture taken with Jewel holding and AK-47 assault rifle, and Steve with his arms around a big brick of pot! Lovely story huh? I am still interested in knowing if anybody out there has access to this picture, it would be quite hillarious to see the Queen of Angels holding an assault rifle (kinda reminds me of Heartbreak Ridge..."AK-47 assault rifle, the prefered weapon of your enemy. It makes a distinct sound when fired....." Anyways, hope that cleared up some questions..... Two weeks ago , I had the good fortune of being able to talk to Sarah McLachlan when she was here in Richmond. Oddly enough, I had run into another Lilith performer, Joan Osborne, on the sidewalk whose guitar player , Jack , I know rather well. So, upon chatting with Joan and Jack outside of the venue where Sarah had just finished up an amazing show. .. Joan wanted to go find Sarah and say "hello." We ended up on Sarah's bus for about an hour (as her doggie ,Rex, took a nap on my lap:) talking about a lot of things. One of the first things that came up was the fact that just that day , Sarah had received the final track listing for the cd set and happily told Joan , "Hey , your back on !" Apparently, because of management and some red tape . . Joan had been on and off of the list quite a bit . At any rate, I'm assuming that this is why Jewel doesn't have a track on the album. However, that is just my own deduction based on Sarah and Joan's comments. I did end up bringing Jewel's name up during some part of our little chat and neither Joan nor Sarah had bad things to say about her . I believe that whether someone is "jealous" of someone has very little to do with who makes it onto the compilation or not. Okay, before I ramble further . . . I shall shut up :) I just thought I might be able to shed some light on the issue .
