That ad was promoting a new radio station called Radio Disney, which targets pre-teen listeners. Curiously, I tuned in and it was playing Jewel's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which came from the 1995 Wizard of Oz concert. Radio Disney can be heard in the San Diego area on AM 1240, which used to be country station KSON. I don't think her remarks should be blown out of proportion. I think that she is the perfect example of why our friend who's been mailing us unexpected messages lately (as per Mike's warning) is completely wrong about us. She *is* living her life, championing worthy causes, instead of sitting around doing nothing. I would say that she is practicing what she preaches. (so PLEASE don't do it :) a good guideline for flaming is: "don't post/send anything that you wouldn't say to his/her face" I hope this helps Joseph ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Apr 1998 06:05:41 EST From: JewelK411 Subject: Re: MTV Unplugged Jewel on Mtv Unplugged says "This is for Ike" before Angel Standing By... Therefore, I was wondering whether I can enquire through the group as to whether anyone has a recording ? This would especially apply to EDAs in Europe as that is where the BFBS show was broadcasted. Anyway, perhaps you could get back to me when you get the chance if you can help me out ? Thanks a lot folks ! It's just like the American MTV, only different shows. I hope all of you out there that can watch will be able to catch this program. It's on Spotlight on April 20th. Check your listings for times, they do repeat the show a couple of times during the day. For any of you that don't receive this channel and are wondering what it's all about, I'll quote the statement they use at Much Music: " A different artist each day, front and centre, for a full half an hour. The best way to discover a new artist or trace the career of your favourite." It will probably show clips of interviews with Jewel, along with some footage of her performing. Enjoy! Thanx! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Apr 1998 17:58:27 -0500 (EST) From: Sean Hooks Subject: Meaning of Innocence Maintained The lyric, "Innocence can't be lost, it just needs to be maintained" is a good one. What it means is that no one really loses their innocence, but sometimes in this modern world we live in, we neglect it and our upkeep slips and we forget what it's like to be innocent. But it's not because we've actually lost that innocence, but because we refuse to keep those feelings alive, we ignore the innocence that still lies within us all. In this song Jewel really isn't referring to innocence in terms of sex, drugs, life experience, escaping from being sheltered, loss of naivete, or anything like that. That's not what innocence means. It's a state of mind where your being is pure, calm, serene, and full of youthful vigor and lack of cynicism and doubt. Well, they have this thing that rates all the c.d.s according to a poll, and no one had rated Save the Linoleum or Shiva Diva Doo Wop, (which I thought was also interesting that they listed those). Soooo.... when I rated those, I gave both of them 5 stars-classic. So as of now, they are both rated 100% 5 star classics. =) Heheh, I just thought it was funny. (Btw, yes, I have heard both, and I do think they're classics) =) Bye bye Peace, Priscilla.
