Hello Everybody! I just wanted to say how great I think this idea is, which was just mentioned by "George of the Jungle - the pschedelic angel" about requesting MTV and VH1 to play some of our favorite live performances more often. This would simultaneously satisfy some of your own Jewel Cravings, and give those who have not seen them the chance to do so. Let alone some of the fans who are not on this list and don't have the benefit of Angelfood and personal messages coming to them. Hey! Bonuses all around! Anyhow, when the original post was sent out, it gave you all the AOL addresses you would need to go to for voting, and here are the WWW addresses for the same, as well as what I sent to each if you care to take the time to read, or can't think of what you say yourself. Let's just Flood them both with all kinds of requests for Jewel, and restore some EDA spirit among ourselves in the process... How about it? :) MTV's URL: http://www.mtv.com/mtv/feed/feedmusic2.html My request to them: Hey There all you MTV Producers, Executives, and other Peoples empowered with deciding the shape of our minds, I just wanted to share my opinion that Jewel is an amazing artist, not only for her songs, but for her poetry, her philosophies, and everything that she wants to share with anyone willing to listen. It would be wonderful, not only for me, but for many of the young and impressionable minds out there in MTV Land, if you could find time in the Airplay scheduals to show Jewel's Performance on UnPlugged whenever you might have hole to fill in programming. If you have plans of doing so any time soon, please feel free to let me know in any reply to this which you might send. Thank you! Now for VH1: mailto:Request@vh1.com As for my request here, it will be about the same as above, except that I will change any MTV references to VH1 of course, and Jewel Unplugged will more likely read Crossroads or Hard Rock Live... Pretty simple really, and if all of our voices call out together, each one won't have to say vary much. Hope some of you like this idea, and get behind us on it. Otherwise, thanks for your time and reading, and have a Great week! "Your life becomes what you believe" -Jewel Make your life extraordinary! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I promise that I have been reading everything! Just wanted to let you guys know that I found the Wizard of Oz Soundtrack available on cd. Didn't somebody tell me that it was only available on video? I dunno, maybe they did, maybe they didn't anyways. To make a long story short it's available at Newbury Comics. If you guys don't live around Boston, the website is www.newbury.com. Have fun! I love you guys. Majick The Racecar Driving Angel P.S. Racing season starts April 4th! Today I turned off my brother's annoying Sushi cartoon thing on MTV to VH1 to see what was but.......Before they were rock stars. It had about Jewel for about 5 minutes and then went into Bruce Springsteen. Did anyone else see this episode??? Um... Is this the only episode with jewel on it??? It said that her father taught her to yodel but in a magazine I heard that her swiss grandfather taught her how. Which one was right??? It had her singing onstage with who I am guessing was her father. It also said that her parents divorced when see was small and she sang in bars with her father. Is it true that a man tried to rape her once after a show while her father was away form her??? I would appreciate any response!!! Very early in her career, before anyone outside of San Diego had heard of her, he took her under his wing. (Also for the new here, (by the way) he's the one who co-wrote You Were Meant For Me and is the dude in the video of it with her) The reason why he's a topic on the list at this moment is that he just launched his solo career and his CD "One Left Shoe" (on the Mercury Records label) just came out. So here goes with the first four Steve Poltz show review posts: ****** From: AMYSUE Subject: A cool Steve Poltz story Hey guys. I know this is the Jewel list, but the coolest thing happened to me and my friend Theresa at the Steve Poltz concert at the Mercury Lounge in New York City. Here it is: I was planning to go with my friend Theresa. She and I had gone there last fall to see Letters to Cleo, and had no problem getting in. This was, however, not the case last night. We got there at eight, and I was supposed to meet some people from the list outside at 8:30, so we went to go inside to get our tickets. The bouncer guy was standing outside with two (big) cops, and when Theresa showed him her license, to prove she was over 18, we found out we had to be 21. Uh-oh. And we were totally screwed, because she proved she was very under 21. Whoops. So, we were going to leave, and go get food, but I wanted to hang around til the people I was supposed to meet showed up at 8:30. Well, at 8:40, a cab pulls up right in front of us, and Steve Poltz gets out. (Woohoo!) A couple people went up to him to ask him to sign their CD's,and when they left, I went up and asked him to sign mine, and told him that we came to see him play, but we couldn't get in. So he started asking the bouncer if there was any way he could let us in, but he told him he couldn't do anything, but if he wanted, Steve could go talk to the manager and see if she could do anything. So Steve asks us our names, and went inside. Three or four minutes later, I looked at Theresa, like "Riiiiight, like he's even going to remember." I no sooner finished saying that when he came back outside with the manager who told us not to touch anything, and to just go in, see the show and get out. Yippy!! So we went in to the club, and we were sitting on the edge of the stage for the whole show. (A GREAT show, by the way, which I will be getting a tape of if any of you are interested) When it was over, Theresa asked him to sign a poster she had stolen off the wall, and he did, and he said, "So, Theresa, how did you like the show?" She was all happy he had remembered her name. But when I thanked him again for getting us in, he shook my hand and gave me a kiss on the cheek, and when we got outside, Theresa was all gushing about how cool it was that he remembered her name, but I said, "Yeah, well, he KISSED me." She conceded that that was cooler. So I win. ~Amy, the angel who loves mystery ****** From: VampSlayr6 Subject: NJC: Steve's show! WOW that's all I have to say. He played a great set. By the way for everyone who was there I was the angel in the Jewel shirt sitting in the corner by the stairs. Steve is a very pleasant man for all of those who have not met him. He gave me his autograph on two things and my sister got it on her shirt. And I also got a few pics of him including one of me him and my sis. All in all it was a great show except for the rude people that were there on which I will not comment. Beth The Wondering Angel (who needs sleep) PS. Anyone at the show please email me privately. I'd like to know what you thought. ****** From: "Todd Safra" Subject: NJC: Steve Poltz show in Belmar NJ Well for those of you who weren't there, you all missed a great show. The Java Hut was a small intimate setting that was fantastic (with the exception of the jokers in the back on the second level who were pissing everbody in the whole place off with their laughter during the set from time to time...) Steve put on a great show after an apparent quick bar tour of Belmar (along with his flask of Holy Water...). I got to meet my first EDAs Eric(crashboy), Amy, Kim, Rob, and Stacy. You guys were great to hangout with, hope to see you again on the 11th. Steve met all of us after the show (Kim brought chocolate chip cookies, and Steve seemed to like them by the length of the hug she got, Way to go Kim!). Anyone who has the opportunity to go see him, you should really do it, he's got an incredible stage prescence! Looking forward the monday show at the Tin Angel! Todd ****** From: "Todd Safra" Subject: NJC: Steve P and Cookies correction Just to give credit where credit is due: Tammy Cambell made the cookies for Steve, Kim just delivered them... Sorry about that! Besides that Steve probably thought we were trying to poison him when he asked us if we wanted some of the cookies for ourselves and all 5 of us turned him down... He took a bite anyway :-) Thanks, Todd ****** * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand * The Jewel EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup * * If you have list related questions, feel free to email me * at Ducksoup@spectra.net * * DuckofPrey@aol.com WhyADuck55 on AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Mar 1998 17:17:09 -0600 From: kriskringle4@juno.com (Kristin L Achterhof) Subject: correction Hey angels In regard to my Jewel facts, in one fact I left out a word it was supposed to be "she cleaned HERSELF in Kmart bathrooms, not she cleaned Kmart bathrooms. I got all of them right,.. the last one was actually a lucky guess though. It said that Jewel wrote the song "foolish games" after losing a game of twister. Is that really true? I was just wondering. I finally remembered to ask this: I asume there will also be a soundtrack to the movie Jewel's filming (as it is to almost all the others)... and I was wondering will Jewel be writing music for the movie... or will she at least have a song or two in it?? Is there any info about that available??? I mean in this last letter to us she says she's writing some Civil War tunes... could that be for O.S.T.???
