I don't know why she said she wrote it for a kid who's dad died. Maybe she met a kid whose dad died and said "Don't worry, I wrote a song for you -- it's called "Angel Standing By" and she mentioned it in concert because she thought he was there or something. Just an idea. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 20:25:56 -0500 From: thumbkin@juno.com (Christa L Hinman) Subject: NJC: any EDAs in Rochester? Hey all of the EDAs out there in computerland! How ya all been doing??? I'm fine, perfectly fine. Sorry for the NJC post, but I would like to know if there are any angels out there who live in, or around Rochester, NY?? I live right out of Rochester. I was just wondering if there are any angels out there near me. I was thinking we could meet sometimes in the summer?!?! That'll be fun. I'm just a little dissapointed that there are no other angels my age, but there might be. Is there an EDA out there around the age of 11? If so, even though you may not live near me, maybe you could Email me and we'll talk. Well, have to run. Love, *Christa* the Sunshine Angel :-) "What? Your hungary? Uh huh!! I reminded myself by searching the Jewel lyrics archive! http://www.endor.org/jewel/lyrics2.html > You were my Romeo > I was your Juliet > Hiding in the trash can > We both got wet The song is Need a Piece of Your Love Machinery. It is off of Rare Angels. :-) Now I am trying to remember if I did the LTD for this one...hmmmm.... LURKER MODE!!! HORTER!!! ******** ADDED NOTE from the list moderator: To save Horter and the list from a gazillion "what the he** does LTD stand for?" emails, I figgered I'd tell ya now. Many moons ago, when the list was quite small, a list member was trying to get fellow list members to help type out the lyrics to Jewel's songs, but there was a lack of interest/ambition. So the list member started a Lyric Transcription Drive (LTD) to get the ball rolling. That's why you'll see things like "Carnivore LTD" etc as the subject of a post to the list if you ever read the list archives at http://www.smoe.org/lists/jewel/archives Mike :-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 18:58:08 PST From: "* Jewel *" Subject: Jewel News: "Dulled Jewel" Hey guyz, this little article wuz in the Northwest Herald today, a chicago land newspaper. It reads: Dulled Jewel: In Kansas City, Mo., Jewel hopes starring in Ang Lee's Civil War movie will help with her singing doldrums. The pop star told reporters Tuesday she is turning to acting because she is bored with touring and isn't afraid of the boy's club atmosphere on the movie set. "That's the fun part," she says with a laugh. "To Live On," based on a Daniel Woodrell book, is about Missouri farm boys who become Confederate raiders. It folows Lee's "Sense and Sensibility" and "The Ice Storm." Well, thats it guyz. L8er! Hi all you angels!!!!!! I have a question: Is the title of Jewel's new movie called "A woe to live on" or is it "To live on"?????????????? I heard on this radio station that it was "To Live On" but I have heard other places that it is A Woe To Live ON. Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Geez, one character reminded me so much of Jewel. I seriously think they were trying to portray her. She was a homeless girl, dropped out of school ( i know Jewel didn'y drop out), and then does back to the school now that its winter because its warm. Anyways, Angela (Claire Danes) was looking for Rickie, and there was this girl in this empty room sitting there singing this beautiful song with her guitar. Well anyways, Angela and this girl, they never say her name, started talking and she told Angela that Rickie was alright and not to worry about him ( the reason shes looking for him is because she finds out that his dad beat him) . Then at the end of the show, everything turns out good, and they show this girl at the top of the church spread her wongs and fly away. I mean, i was so amazed by how much this resembled Jewel. I wish i would have known so i could have taped it. If anyone else saw it, please E- Mail me back ( privatly) and let me know what you thought, bye. ~Lesley *~The Shocked Angel~* ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 23:24:20 EST From: Brandis850 Subject: NJC: Poltz in MI Anyone going to the 7th House show for Steve in MI? Most of you say this is from a guy's point of view, but if you listen to the song, it's not. Does she sing it from both points of view? I'm still scratching my head on this one. Please help me!! Amen was for Kurt Cobain. Anyway, a song can have many meaning and reasons. When they talked about the way guys treated women (i.e. sticking their tongues out as they drove by), this is expressed by Jewel through a female perspective. But the male perspective WAS talked about in the analyzations, therefore confusing some of you. Mm__) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #189 ***************************
