Hey E.D.A's Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you guys. I love the way Jewel brings to light, the things which affect us every day, even though we don't think about them. I love WWSYS because what she is saying is so true. We sit around on our butts all day letting people on T.V live our lives instead of following our own dreams. Our lives lack the passion which we need to make something of ourselves. That song alone changed my life. I think it's amazing that a 23 yr old girl living thousands of miles away whom I've never even come close to meeting, can affect me just by channeling the thoughts from her soul and her heart through a pen and on to a piece of paper. I think Satellite is great. She sings it with such an ironic, almost humerous tone in certain parts, yet when she begins to sing "that's o.k we're still learning.." I don't know, she just makes me cry. I don't know whether it's anger or sadness. Why are people so superficial?? Why are they so wrapped up in making money and furthering their careers when they don't even know themselves. Why can't they listen to their heart instead of feeding their greed. Why are they hurting themselves??? Is Jewel going to be touring anytime this year, maybe a few months after she finishes her movie, or is that still undertermained? I know that this only has Jewel involved cause Jewel played on the Lilith Fair, I hope that You guys don't spank me with 5,000 messages that this is a Jewel Web page, but about a year ago, here in LA, KROQ our radio had an Annual concert, An acustic Christmas, it was a two night thing, night two was bands like 311, green Day, and other rock groups, but night number one was Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, The Cardigans, Tori Amous, Sheral Crow, and everyone there was a woman act, remember this was before the LIlith Fair, and it was a huge sucsess, I want to know even though that Sarah McLachlan said that she was inspired by all women not being given their dues, but has she ever said that this concert also inspired her to try a concert series of all women? That article that said "You Make Loving Fun" was turned into a Jewel song is ridiculous. In fact, it sounds very original, unlike any Jewel song I've ever heard. What she has done here is simply give her own passions over to someone else's song, like she has done in the past (i.e. Have A Little Faith In Me, Dancing Barefoot, etc.) So, if you don't have this album yet, go buy it! It's a great compilation. Also, regarding Steve Poltz's new "One Left Shoe" album, WHERE CAN I FIND IT??? I want it really bad, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I live in Arizona. Any other EDAs know where I can find it? PLEASE HELP!! I'm desperate! Jewel will be featured on "The Water Is Wide" in an ensemble performance with The Indigo Girls & Sarah M. (Yes, there was some question as to whether Jewel or Shawn Colvin's version would used. Apparently thats settled.) She will not have any other featured songs on the Lilith Fair compilation. I'm psyched for the live version of Patty Griffin's "Cain" myself! Hi all! I was looking at my wall (on which I have many Jewel magazine articles and pics) and listening to Radio Angels '96 and on that tape she says that her favorite song from POY was Angel Standing By. But I have a magazine article on my wall that says Amen was her favorite song. I also remember someones website saying that Amen was Jewels favorite song. The article says that she likes Amen because it is very strong lyrically, and as a poem as well. The only reason I bring this up was because there was a contest on this list quite a few months back and to win, you had to answer the question, "What is Jewel's favorite song from POY?" So I have another question, what is her favorite song off of POY? Thanks in advance for answering my question. :) Love, Nancy, the angel who breaks everything sometimes ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1998 09:16:58 EST From: ABershaw Subject: MrBB-NJC: More Steve Poltz/Lisa Sanders Tour dates Hi All, Here's the remainder of the Steve Poltz tour dates prior to his 1st Europe tour at the end of April. I don't know if that line-up (which, btw, also included Natalie Merchant, No Doubt, Garbage, and Poe, to my recollection) was inspired by the same thing that inspired Sarah to creat LilithFair, but I *DO* know that I had been at a Sarah McLachlan concert (also featuring Paula Cole and Suzanne Vega)at the Starlight Bowl in Hollywood a few months BEFORE the 1996 KROQ show, at which Sarah announced that she was going to put together the Lilith tour the following summer; she even called that concert the first "Lilith" show. At one time, a number of EDAs had volunteered to tape that show from a digital FM satellite feed. Does anyone here now have that? Please email me. BTW, I wonder why Jewel is not being *featured* in the 2CD Lilith compilation? Mayor Emanuel Cleaver wlcomed the cast and crew in a session at the Westin Crown Center hotel. Patti Watkins, the city film projects director, reported that typically 65 percent of a movie's budget remains at the shooting locations, to be reciculate in the local economy. The total budget of "to live on" is about $35 million. Schamus described "an exceptional and smooth ride that led to out landing here" and praised the Kansas City and the Missouir and Kansas film commissioners for their assistance in find shooting locations, vendors and local crew members. Lee, who was born in Taiwan, is acclaimed for his "sense and sensibility" and "the ice storm". He said he was intrigued by the project because "it made me look at America very differently. It was more like Bosnia or Vietnam, yet it was dead center U.S.A....more Mark Twain territory." Jewel, a chart-topping artist who was part of the Lilith Fair last summer, said she had become bored with singing and touring and that acting provided a new challenge. Asked if she wasn't concered that the "to live on" set would be pretty much a boys' club, she laughed and answered, "that's the fun part." Also on hand were producers Ted Hope and Bod Colesberry and novelist Daniel Woodrell on whose 1987 book Woe To Live On the film is based. Two of the film's young stars were unable to attend the press conference. For God's sake heuses someone elses' success to meet his.. all Puff Daddy doens is sample someone ELSE'S work, puts in a couple more beats some perfanity and PRESTO! he's got himslef a couple of million in his pocket..i'm not saying you can't sample someone else's stuff, sure once in a while it helps, but ALL the time?? come on! that just proves that he is talentless, and has no guts to write his own stuff. ok, that's it..i probably flamed SPice Girls & Puff Daddy a lot, but hey, it's a free country, and if you like them then that's your opninion not mine.. bye y'all! * margaret * hyper * angel * ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #186 ***************************
