This is really a wonderful CD, plus a great value for 58+ minutes, 15 tracks of music for $8.99 at Tower Records, and not a bad cut among them. No Jewel last night. Gregory Page, Lisa Sanders, and some other friend's of Steve's, but not Jewel. It was a great show. We sat in the 3rd row. It was a full venue, maybe 1,000 - the largest crowd I had ever seen at a Poltz concert. My friend Michelle had never even heard of Steve before. She loved him. Believe me, if you ever have a chance to see him live, even if it means some hardships, I would urge you to make the effort. My friend Jim, who had arrived just 8 hours before from Tokyo, and had severe jet lag, was rejuvinated by the concert! So, go see Steve, and you won't go wrong buying this CD either. I still have the book release date as 5/10/98 but that may have changed slightly, I'm not sure. For future reference, the ISBN # for "A Night Without Armour" is ISBN: 0060191988. The book is 160 pages in length & will be (approximately) 15 US dollars. Just here to let you know that Steve is going to be in our state 3 times in the next couple of weeks. On March 21, he's going to be in Royal Oak at the Java Coffee House for a FREE performance. April 2, he's gonna be at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. The next day he'll be performing with a band called Ivy (sounds familiar, but can't remember what they sing) at the Shelter in Detroit. This is one of the best places in Michigan to see a concert, so if you go to any of these, this is the one to go to...or not, you can't really beat a free gig at a coffee house. :) It seems that Ivy will be headlining...but don't quote me on that, they were'nt too specific on the info. If you have any questions, drop me a line and I can give you anything else you need to know. Take care all. Darryl "Depravity strips us of our virtues: loyalty, trust, honesty, and thoughtfullness. Hi, everyone, nice to read you all again ... I had been pretty busy for the last few weeks and I had more than a month's worth of digests sitting in my mailbox!! the good news is that I have just caught up after 8 hours of reading (yes I even read all the "true fan/early tickets" posts) ... so does that make me a True fan?? :) anyhow, I just want to say that I don't think being on the net is a sign of economic well-being at all! I mean there are bunch of companies offering sub-$1000 PCs ... forget that, I just bought an used 486 for $80 (and that's Canadian dollar) which includes a modem; and frankly, you can access e-mail with 286 or even XT (which people will practically pay you to take it from them). Then you dial up regional freenet and BINGO! you're on the net. (also AOL trial offers basically fall out of the sky these days :) anyways, my point is that if you can afford to go to concerts, you can afford getting connected. (and I would certainly prefer you guys over the concert crowd from what I've heard) having said that, I don't think it's a good idea to have "first 10 rows reserved" for us ... that kind of thing, which I think will definitely destroy this list because of all the people who join just to get early tickets ... etc. I think a more reasonable thing would be an occasional draw for a few early tickets among list members (after all, the radio stations do it ... and we're not even looking for free tickets, just to pay a day in advance maybe - at least that's what my impression of what people are looking for) I don't think that's too much to hope for, if we keep in mind that we are in no position to demand anything, we can only hope for this privilege. on to my subject ... I recall Mr.BB mentioned that the Bearsville 96 recordings will most likely not used for FCS, as Jewel has grown musically since then and has a bigger collection of songs to choose from. I was wondering if it is at all possible to tree the recordings (I guess I was dreaming ... :) but seriously, I'm wondering if it is a feasible idea to release them as a "B-sides and rarities" collection like the one Sarah did a while back. It would certainly "strike the iron while it's hot" like someone said, and it doesn't involve much (if any) touring and promotional appearances on Jewel's part. phew! another long post, thanks for reading special hellos go out to people who wrote me regarding my last post (over two month ago?) it's nice to know that somebody is reading my posts :) hugs and ... I was talking with Bibi the other night and mentioned that the10th of May fell on a Sunday (Mother's Day) and how Sinjin had posted that the date (May 10th) was quite likely an error and that he had said that such books are generally are released on a Wednesday....well, Bibi double-checked and told me the release date is now tentatively scheduled for the 20th of May (a Wednesday!), although the Jewel website ( http://www.jeweljk.com ) now just mentions that the book has a springtime release (it had mentioned May 10th previously)....the moral of the story???......looks like May 20th or May 27th or June 3rd (or any subsequent Wednesday in the Sping) Mike :-) * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand * The Jewel EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup * * If you have list related questions, feel free to email me * at Ducksoup@spectra.net * * DuckofPrey@aol.com WhyADuck55 on AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 12:00:43 -0800 From: Jan Winters Subject: a couple of comments > before, it was just him.
