(If the subject isn't reaching you, here it is again:) Subject: YWMFM now as "new"single in Holland? My main question for all you guys in the Netherlands or anybody who knows: Is it true YWMFM is the "new" single in The Netherlands? An extract of it is used in a radio-jingle on 3FM that usualy contains songs that are just released. What is going on? I didn't have time to check the local recordstore. Well, it makes me curious. That's for sure! Click on "jcards". If you see any errors on it, don't download it and I will correct it asap. While you're there, take a look around as I just redesigned my whole page. It isn't a Jewel fan page or anything, just something I threw together for the hell of it. Please sign my guestbook when you're there, thanks! I only included the Jewel content of the article, but there is more in the article with Steve alone. A number of people have asked for the entire article, but typing it out for me will take out time that I cannot spare. But don't worry there is a much better alternative. I have looked around on the Internet and found the entire article. The article not only has the entire text but also includes a small picture of Steve. So if you are interested follow the link below, followed by the "music" link. http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/eye_magazine.html well everyone have a really nice day, and hope to talk to you really soon bye Wojtek Kowalewski Electrical Engineer Ryerson Polytechnic University, Toronto PS. If any one is a member of the Rugburns mailing list, could they forward this, I think that they would enjoy it as well, Thanks in advance. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Mar 1998 00:51:10 +1100 (EST) From: Laurie Boddy Drafting Subject: aussie angelfood hey guys, just writing to say I got my first piece of angelfood the other day. It was "Jewel Rocks the Paradise" and it seems as though everyone else has it anyway. It was a real moving performance and I certainly appreciate Jewel more for it. Thank you Mary. If there are any aussie EDA's who would like a copy of it, please e-mail me personally and we can arrange something. Early tickets for jewel....well how about any tickets for jewel. You guys should be so lucky to see her once. There are thousands of people in australia dying to see her one day. Its a pretty good idea though. It doesn't sit well with me that some people consider it elitist or consider us priviledged to have a computer. I am certainly not priviledged because there is a computer in the household. It gives me no particular economical status in the community by having one. Anyone has the potential to make an effort to be a part of the mailing list, we are the ones who fulfilled it by getting on it and making this ML a stronger community. It shouldn't be seen as a reward for being a fan of jewel. I get too much out of her as it is to be expecting more but we are as close to a fan club as she has so it would be kinda special to be certain of getting a ticket for a particular show. Organization is a big factor though. Hope it comes about one day, just like we hope Jewel comes about. Ciao for now, take care Bodhi, angel down under ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 11:05:06 EST From: "Katie" Subject: "Been Down So Long" I've been trying to figure out how to play "Been Down So Long" on the guitar. I've looked on the internet, and I can't find the tabs for it anywhere. Does anyone know where I could find them or does anyone know how to play the song? Please e-mail me if you can help. Thanks! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Mar 98 10:09:46 Pacific Daylight Time From: Bill "Wizard" Downey Subject: recording techniques WHEH! So the Jewel Doll was all just a bad dream! I can step down off my soapbox now. Here's a strange question. Mr. BB can probably answer it, but someone else might know, too. Here goes: When Jewel's vocal track for the single version of "Foolish Games" was recorded, was this track routed through a signal processor (other than an Aphex Aural Exciter)? I've only heard this version on inferior audio equipment (car stereo, elevators, etc.) but her vocals seem to be altered slightly. Is this my imagination? Anyone who knows can email me privately, no need to clutter this list w/something so insignificant. Just wanted to update you all a little since I got a response from the poltz aol account to an e-mail I sent. Here is an excerpt from my response: "Indeed, there is scant time on this little mini tour for any real LR appearances, but rest assured, there will be some LRT dates when the tour kicks into full swing. There are some European dates in April, so expect to hear info sometime in May about the LRT dates." Hope this eases the minds of all who volunteered and are wondering what's happening :-) Tammy :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 11:05:36 -0800 From: moonsong@ix.netcom.com (Charlie, Sami, Cobby) Subject: YWMFM radio version I was just wondering, is there any way we can get ahold of the radio version of "YWMFM" and any of the others? Hey I am singing at this coffee house thing for my school and I was planning to sing 1000 Miles Away with my friend Paul playing guitar. (and a total speech on how it was Jewel's song and maybe even tell her background on the song and its meaning). But Paul could not play it because it was hard for him to figure it out becuase he says it was mainly picking at the strings or something. So I am singing WWSYS instead. But anyways, has anyone else had trouble playing 1000 Miles Away on the guitar? Does anyone has good tabs for it? Steve Poltz co-wrote a few of Jewel's songs like You Were Meant For Me... etc.. he's the lead singer of a great band The Rugburns that Jewel somes times tours with and he also was her boyfriend while she lived in San Diego for quite a time. he's an amazing singer and I hope to meet him someday.. i love that guy to bits..
