Also. So, is this like a fan club list? I guess the EDA's have kind of a little community going here. Does this mean we get to go to special Jewel concerts or that we have more of a chance of meeting her? Or that we know about them more often? Does anyone know when Jewel will be performing in California (anywhere from L.A. to Irvine to San Diego is fine)? I would really love to see her. >Jewelstock was a concert Jewel put on for EDA's only. >Chances are she didn't play any song more than once and because >Jewelstock is three tapes long it probably contains the most variety of >all of the Angelfood out there. Bye 4 now- Norm That's pretty cool. So then EDA's have a unique connection with Jewel....Am I right, is she more personal with EDA's than with her other fans..does she only get stressed with other fans, or is there a certain limit to just how 1-to-1 or "inside" EDA's get? Sorry for my endlessly curious mind. Okay, well, the Jewel song(s!) that hit closest to home would first be the Sensitive song. I guess I am waaay too sensitive, but maybe that's a good thing? Next is Near You Always and Who Will Save Your Soul, the former because...I can identify with what she's saying, the latter because I'm generally critical of society and all the rest. Hey folks, Jewel did a cover of "The Water Is Wide" with Sarah McLachlan and The Indigo Girls at Toronto Lilith this summer. You may have heard it on the special... its a TRULY incredible song and a rare opportunity to hear those 4 women sing together... I had the opportunity to hear it there and I must say it was beyond comparably beautiful and everyone should have to hear it! WELL, I heard this ~rumor~ that they are NOT going to put it on the Lilith Fair CD set because someone or other (at Atlantic perhaps?) doesn't want it on there. SO, I was thinking that perhaps if "they" know the fans love it and want it on there, this person will change their mind and grant us the priviledge. I have no idea *how* exactly to let them know this, but I'm sure someone out there knows someone who can pass along our general desire. So, if that's you, do it, if you want it there... I dunno, post it or something . I have it on good conscience to say that "they" who want it (including Jewel, I believe) need our help, its worth a shot. Who knows, we may have power afterall ;) thanks angels, I really appreciate it!!!! - -Mia ~~~~~ Vale et me ama, Amelia S. Well, last year I started out with my Jewel Compilation Videos (JCVs) project and it's finally done. I searched, collected, traded and spent hours upon hours and about 6 months compiling these videos. All together there are 4 videos. Except for the unfinished #4, each has 2 hrs of Jewel, Jewel and more Jewel doing t.v. interviews and performances. I think it's a shame to have great Jewel footage on video not even tell anyone about it or take the time to help spread it around. I know many people out there have some great stuff on Jewel that they are just keeping to themselves, which in my opinion is selfish. What good does that do to just let these precious things just collect dust on the shelves? So, I thought I'd try my hardest to get whatever I could that's out there and help spread it around and keep it alive. Here's a sample of some of the footage on the videos: JEWEL COMPILATION VIDEO 1 (JCV 1) 1. Original YWMFM video from Blockbuster Promo, ETBN 16. The Late Late Show, Interview by Tom Snyder 18. Charlie Rose Interview, "Emily" JEWEL COMPILATION VIDEO 2 (JCV 2) 42. San Diego Channel 8 News, Encinitas High School 35. George & Allanah Show, WWSYS, & interview 37. The Conan O' Brian Show, YWMFM (remix version live) w/Steve Poltz JEWEL COMPILATION VIDEO #3 (JCV 3) 54. LAUREN HUTTON SHOW, Unsung In Your eyes 59. AM PHILA. (3-10-97) interview 60. GOOD DAY PHILA. (3-10-97) short interview & YWMFM JEWEL COMPILATION VIDEO #4 (JCV 4) 65. Jay Leno (12-25-95) WWSYS 66. KROQ X-mas Show on MTV's 120 Minutes (12/96) - interview. 74. WWSYS Video w/introduction by Jewel on Top 50 of 1996 on VH1. Those are just a few that are on each video. If interested, e-mail me requesting setlists. I will send the entire setlists for all 4 videos and we can take it from there. I like what Jewel says in alot of songs, but I don't know if I necesarily see myself in alot of them, but I do feel a strong attachment to 1000 Miles Away because my boyfriend went off to college in San Diego (I live in Houston) and I still am missing him everyday. There are a few. Firstly, I'm Sensitive. Usuallu\y, I'm on e of those people who hide their souls, even though I am vulnerable underneath. And then there is Foolish Games, which reminds me of the way I feel sometimes, like no one is listening. I have never heard any non POY songs, so I can't be the judge of too much. My name is Antonia. I'm 15 years old. I have loved Jewel's music since i first got her CD a couple of years back. I listened to the whole thing and was breathtaken. I loved it. Jewel is what inspired me to start to listen to other excellant female musicians like Fiona Apple, Ani Difranco, etc. Before that i was never really seriously into music, I never really listened to the lyrics of the songs and actually understood them. I find this to be funny considering what it became. I wonder if she ever thought it would become the song it has become. My question is, does anyone know if she performed this live in 1995 before she performed it with Melissa Etheridge on VH1 Duets in Oct '95? (2) On Atlantic Records Digital Arena website, they are playing a Jewel homecoming concert from San Diego from March 1997 (this was mentioned before). I have two questions. First, was this really an April 4, 1997 concert and not in March? Her "Tiny Lights Tour '97" book sold at the concerts says she was playing S.D. on 4/4. She was elsewhere in March. Second, I have the setlist to the concert, but I don't know the name of the 2nd song. It was new at the time. Can anyone who has listened to this webcast or who was there tell me what the name of this song is? It's between "Near You Always" and "1000 Miles Away". I'd appreciate the help. But since this list was set up to talk about Jewel, we don't think that it was wrong of anyone to post that. If it was irrelevant to the topic of this mailing list, then that would be another story. But since it is a Jewel, we should be able to speak freely about... Jewel(in positive ways)! And because what this person was trying to say wasn't negative in any way, it shouldn't be causing so much hipe. We actually give two thumbs up to whoever originally posted this because a lot of people wouldn't say anything in fear that they might offend somebody. First, I just read the "Fruit Roll-Up pants" post that Jewel sent. I have been on this list a little more than a year, but I feel that I've lost something not being able to have known Jewel and her music during the "early year(s)". That post shows exactly what kind of person Jewel really is and was. Her apparent coldness to us now probably comes from a need to be introspective. Her starring in a movie is her being selfish. That post confirms the post of Sean Hooks, in my opinion, and engenders the ideas that I had before about Jewel and her personality. Thank you Jay. On the weight subject, I don't care, but if she did gain 20 lbs., would most of us guys be here?
