So I'll introduce myself. My names Chris and I'm from Ireland. I got into Jewel about 2 years ago ( actually on MTV's video music awards when she she was nominated for WWSYS ). I thought it was a beautifully crafted song. As you can imagine it is very difficult to find music here so I was wondering if anyone could help me out :-)) I'll do the necessary (blank tapes, postage etc) Also I'm missing the TAB for 'Painters' ( URL anyone? ) Any other Irish EDA's out there? I'll sign of for now! Erm, I'll see ya's around soon. Thank you Chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Feb 1998 01:16:01 PST From: "Veronika Mitrevska" Subject: Want more Jewel music? Hi! This is my first time posting here, and I haven't been on this list that long. However, I have seen that some of you are looking for more Jewel music. Last fall she was here in Sweden giving a concert. Unfortantly I didn't had the chance to go and see her, cause it was sold out. A couple of weeks later they aired the concert on the radio and I taped it. It was a great concert, so if you interested mail me for more info. I also have Jewel Unplugged from NY last year. It's on a videocassette, but my dad has in some way taped it in on a musictape. I'm also looking for more Jewel music, so if you have anything please mail me. The only thing is that I was playing it through with the POY CD and there was not enough music. I know you are supposed to repeat at the end for the second verse and chorus and ad lib but it did not quite make it through all of the first verse. Did anyone else notice this?? I was also wondering if there is anywhere else which has sheet music for the piano part on the internet so I can fill in the holes... Anyone know of somewhere? I am not sure there was even sheet music put out as in music stores, but if I were to find one would it have a piano part or just guitar tabs?? - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- {\o/} Lara, a daisy angel I'd rather see the world from another angle /_\ larajean@gmx.de ~Jewel Kilcher - ----- http://come.to/daisy ---------------------- ICQ UIN 7535343 ----- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Feb 1998 12:43:33 EST From: IcicleTA@aol.com Subject: Jewel on pop-up video (Grammy nomination version) Hello All, Did anyone catch the pop-up video last night? Foolish Games was on, it was a special Grammy nominee version. There were a few new facts that I didn't know. One being that Jewel usually travels with a personal nutrionist, and that the kimonos were supposed to sybolize the Chello music. It also said that the video was taped in a cow pasture and several thousand lbs. of sand were brought in to make it seem like Hawii (or something like that). At the end it also said that the video was supposed to be very intimate and something like: "Jewel kept the intamacy between shots in a private tent with her boyfriend". It also had the usual stuff like "dyslexic She's", she loves horses, and she originally wanted to sing the blues. It'll probably be on again sometime today....keep your eyes open =) Does anyone know where VH1 gets these facts? Is it from the video crew that shoots the videos, or the recording company, or the managers, or what? I've always wondered that..... Take care, Karyn...who is excited about her B-day in 2 days and the Grammy's (which she has tickets for!!!) in 13 days =) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Feb 1998 13:00:43 -0500 From: Scott Broughton Subject: JC: foolish games sheetmusic This might have already been answered, but Foolish Games can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7887/foolishgames.html - -Scott e-mail: brougdms@wcta.net IRC: JWagner on EFnet Angel Needs A Ride: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7887/angel.html The Midnight Club: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7887/midnightclub.html "A little dust never stopped me none" - Tori Amos, HONEY "Okay Sita, breathe deep. Jewel's best friend BiBi, who maintains the site has been sick for some time. She's currently doing fine after a routine surgery & is recovering as I write this. She'll be bouncing back soon & updating the site in a week or two, I'm sure. In the meantime, all current info has already been posted & I'll continue to update when I can. Send BiBi happy recovery vibes..... Two major radio broadcasts are coming up on opposite sides of the world. Here's something to think about: Where did your favorite performance by Jewel take place (live or on TV) and why? My favorite performance was at the Lilith Fair... I saw it at Star Lake Ampitheater in PA. It started POURING down rain, and everyone got into her music even more in spite of the rain. (not good :) We all know YWMFM is a rather depressing type of song, but it's cool how each version can portray a different "mood" to it. The Juan Patino mix gives a kinda happy feel to it with it being upbeat and also the missing line "dreams last so long, even after you're gone" makes it 'feel' better. Then, the radio version is a bittersweet type of feeling. The POY version just makes you wanna cry. Her drawn out voice in this one gives it a sadder feeling. Well, I'm sure I'm not the first to realize this, but I thought it was really neat, don't know why it took me so long to really think about it. Just thought I'd share. I think I'm gonna go put the POY version on.... Peace, Priscilla. Yes but I think it's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that we bear down on something here. This page at tapetrader.com has a link to the recipes for angelfood, which will put a lot of non-EDAs in touch with EDAs. Why is this important? Because people will want to trade with you for the Jewelstock tapes which jewel has asked us to keep among members of the list. I know it's probably hard to tell now that tapetrader.com has put this link in, but Jewelstock is mentioned on the trading page and I can't seem to find Alan's original post on this so I'll quote Dave DiCicco: >Date: Sat, 19 Jul 1997 13:10:44 -0400 (EDT) >From: the emperor of smurfs >Subject: Re: Tape Dubbing >> I was just wondering which ones we are aloud to dub for others. > >> I know tapes like Jewelstock are out of the question but >> what about tapes like Jewel Rocks the Paradise, Radio Angels, or the >> Inerrchange Days tapes? >the ONLY tapes we are not allowed to distribute to non-list members is >Jewelstock. i believe Jewel would encourage us to distribute tapes >of all of her material that is not commercially available. >to the best of my knowledge, the restriction on the distribution >of the Jewelstock tapes is to prevent the tapes from falling into the >hands of the makers of bootleg cds. >peace, >dave How to tell if someone is an EDA or not if they email you wanting to trade for Jewelstock? I can't think straight enough right now to answer that, someone help me out here. I'm pretty sick and want to go to bed now so I'll move on... Another point I want to make is, PLEASE don't ever pay money for any Jewel tapes or bootleg CDs. I was speaking with someone in #eda yesterday who had purchased two live jewel tapes from someone and I'm sure that a lot of us have seen these around, all I can say is, there are so many of us willing to copy tapes for you, if you just send blanks and return postage. There's entirely no reason for other people to make money off of Jewel... it's just wrong. I hope the point of this email came through because I don't think this topic has come up lately. I always write to Jewel at Jewel@jeweljk.com and I always get this stupid auto-reply thing that really pissed me off, but today I didn't get it. I had written Jewel this letter two weeks ago wishing her good luck and don't mind all the negativity about her being a singer and going into acting. I told her that if she can, if she has the will, and if she's gonna go part way, then heck, might as well go all the way. I never got an auto-reply to that letter but today I checked my mail and I saw a reply from that letter (there were others after it) and when I checked it, all it said was "Thanks Nancy!" Now I can't say for sure that Jewel wrote it, but even if she didn't, at least the offices that operate these thingies are going to greater lengths to make the fans feel as if they're making a difference. Instead of writing for nothing.... But I shouldn't say that because I'm pretty sure that we can cheer Jewel up tons just by writing her positive letters of encouragement. Love, Nancy the angel who breaks everything sometimes (clumsy) **I think this happened to someone else on the list.
