I REALLY have to get that page together that I wanted to do about all of Jewel's stories..(no time to sit and transcribe 'em all tho! *sniff*). In any case, Jewel has said at many performances of Daddy that it was when she was young she went to her friends house and they were watching her fav show, "The Jeffersons" but when their dad walked in the room and made them turn it off. They went and talked to their dad and when they came back they were crying and said they couldn't watch black people on TV. So she wrote that song about him (their dad, NOT hers). The small paragraph says: Steve Poltz One Left Shoe You know Steve Poltz-he's the guy who cowrote Jewel's hit "You Were Meant For Me" (he's also in the video). His solo sound? If you guessed folksy, tuneful and acoustic, give yourself a gold star. I know it's not much but I think it is great that he is mentioned in such a national magazine. We should all hope that Steve starts to make it big with his new solo album. Everyone look out for Steve's album which is due out in early to mid march I believe. Let's keep trying. Well and my favorite lines are the ones that makes all of us: " WE ARE EVERYDAY ANGELS" Jewel K. The Mexican Angel Joruz. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Feb 1998 20:02:38 EST From: Love1612@aol.com Subject: Different Tabs Hi- Does anyone have have easier/different tabs to Rocker Girl? My favorite Jewel lines (couldn't pick just one): "Oh, fragile flame... Sometimes I feel the same.." - --Fragile Flame "Lavendar haunted you, so I could only laugh in yellow". --Carnivore "Love I leave, but only a little. This world holds me still. My body may die now, but these paintings are real." --Painters "It's morning time, I wonder where you are. Wonder who you're talking to.. And I wonder if the sun has risen where you are." --A Thousand Miles Away That's all for now. I just read that interview from Soda, and I was touched. I thought wow, I've been doing it all wrong. No wonder I feel so lost. I wish I could have Jewel for a mentor and friend, but I know that won't happen. So I guess I'll have to be content with having her as a role model. She IS an Everyday Angel, and not just cause she SAYS so. She really knows herself, and I think that in itself would make anyone want to love her... Keep smiling (I certainly feel better) Ryan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Feb 1998 02:56:13 -0800 From: "Adrian du Plessis" Subject: Jewel celebrates the Ocean's birthday with style and grace Hi all - I'll post more news later, but, for now, here's Jewel's set list from her great performance last night (Feb. 5) at Legends, in the Strathcona Hotel, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was a special event to mark the 2nd birthday of that city's top radio station, The Ocean FM 98.5 (CIOC) - (BTW, cool name for a radio station, don't you think?). Good news for all EDAs - the Ocean arranged to have top notch recording people there (that'll make Mr. BB happy!) and the concert will be aired sometime soon on the radio. I don't think I get the signal where I live, but EDAs on Vancouver Island - hey, happy birthday Phil Poje in Nanaimo! - can record the show. Jewel's performance was 1 hour 45 minutes long and she did LOTS of talking between songs. The audience loved her (naturally) - here's what Jewel sang: Don't Boy Needs a Bike Cold Song Morning Song Enter From the East WWSYS SIBTW Satellites POY YWMFM Foolish Games (original version) Near You Always Angel Standing By Encore: Amen Fragile Flame (my request!) Nikos Jewel and Michel were both in really good spirits. Gotta give credit to the crew at the Ocean who treated them royally and to the people of Victoria who proved how receptive an audience can be... more in a bit... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Feb 1998 20:09:35 EST From: COWGI10935@aol.com Subject: Re: jewel-digest V3 #90 In a message dated 98-02-06 19:25:14 EST, dcoelho@trinidad.net writes: << "What were the things (qualities) that first struck you about Jewel? >> Hmmm...well, when I first heard her (on Duets with Melissa Etheridge) I loved her voice. Then I saw her on some talk show and I just loved her attitude. I loved how simple she was, but still extremely intelligent. I dont really know why I am using the word "was" 'cause she still is all of those things. Anyways, that is my humble opinion. Well, y'all have a great day filled with sunshine and stuff... (14,000 less emails for smoe.org to send out :) Depending on how many more similar posts roll in, there may be a second one of these :-) ******************************** From: Here's mine: Please don't say i love you/ those words toch me much to deeply/.../Don't think you realise the power you have over me/ and please don't come so close. - Near You Always. BTW I'm quite new to this list but i'm noticing from some of the posts that there are some really wise and cool people here, it will be great to get to know you. - Robert, the viking angel ******************************** From: "Krazy Kute Angel" There are tons of lines but i choose by they way i fell right now. i have a line for every mood and everyone's mood changes. Line comes from 1,000 miles away: "What Do I do When I'm 1,000 miles away" I just moved and it feels like that. ~Kevin the krazy Kute Angel ******************************** From: "<< D >>" Gods gift to women "I've been saving myself my whole life For some motherfucker like you to come along I am so desperate I am writing you this song And you're so vain You probably think this song is about you" I don't know why I like this so much, I just do. /Daniel =D6dling ******************************** From: CHERuBUG1@aol.com My fave line is "Same old story not much to say...hearts are broken everyday" OH and i like "Excuse me, think I've mistaken you for somebody else, somebody who gave a damn, somebody more like myself" i also feel very personal about the song 1000 Miles Away "What do i do you're a thousand miles away, and i'm lying next to you" When i first heard that i was so shocked to hear the last line and then i felt like a knife was going into my heart cuz i've felt like that so many times.. michele ******************************** From: VampSlayr6@aol.com my fave Jewel lines are as follows: "I'm half-alive but I feel mostly dead. I try and tell myself it'll be alright, I just shouldn't think anymore tonight." "Where are my angels, where's my golden one, and where is my hope now that my heros have gone? Some are being beaten, some are being born and some can't tell the difference anymore." "I'm sorry is a stupid thing to say. Especially considering it's not like I planned it this way. But I'm sorry is all that there is left of me. I'm sorry this love left me hollow and made you empty." I don't know why these are my fave. lines...they just touch me in no way any other song lyric has touched me before...i have others but none as good as these.. Beth - The Wondering Angel ******************************** From: "David Loewen" "They thought blue prints were to sad So they made them yellow" -Painters I think this line basically sums up the kind of love I hope to find someday. David Loewen - The Cynical-but-getting-better Angel ******************************** From: "BRYAN T SHANAFELT" " They were carpenters of love... they thought blueprints were too sad, so they made them yellow." - JK..(Painters) I think this line means alot.. about how sad alot of the simple things can be... and what we can do to make them better..... (and i just fall to pices when she says "yellow".. i just love it.) ~Bryan -- The angel on the inside ******************************** From: JennyDansr@aol.com My fav jewel lyric is from Sometimes It Be That Way: "I'm sorry that Jesus died for my sins and I swear to God it won't be happenin again" ******************************** From: Catnumber9@aol.com My favorite line in a Jewel song is: "Oh well sometimes it be that way" they are words to live by! - Gina ******************************** From: Angeljlb96@aol.com Mine would have to be: ~It's not that my body's overlooked, my soul is just unknown~ from Unsung in Your Eyes. ""I'm taking back my songs and my poetry, this time I won't be so easy to read..." -Kim ******************************** From: PucaFddlr@aol.com I really like the line "Half skinned gypsies crying 'leave this place'" (from Sattelite), not necessarily b/c of the words (although they certainly do paint an image!) but because of the melody line that goes along with them. Really great. - Alana. ******************************** From: jonarena@juno.com Maybe if we are surrounded in beauty, someday we will become what we see" - - JK in "I'm sensitive" I like the message here. I don't know why, but I smile everytime I hear it. - -Jon ******************************** From: jewel fan Well here I go again. I have so many lines that I like from Jewel's songs but here a a few I can think of right now: AMEN- In the bible only angels have wings and the rest must wait to be saved.
